AMAZING!!! Can’t give this company anything less than a perfect rating (and would give them more stars if I could)! Sam was professional, prompt, diligent and called to confirm after I had called 5 other painters who we’re unreliable and bailed last minute. I mistakenly picked out my own paint colors at Home Depot prior to meeting with Sam and provided them to him and his guys. When they were almost finished with the paint job, I stopped by and realized my «grey» living room and «taupe» bedroom paint choices more closely resembled that of a lavender nursery and freaked out. Sam calmly brought me up paint swatches he had in his car, helped me pick out actual grey and taupe paint colors and ran down the street to pick them up. He and his guys repainted everything right then and there, and it looks freaking AMAZING! He literally saved me last minute, only charging me a meager $ 50 extra to repaint basically my entire condo — This was on top of his already great prices (I was quoted double by the 5 other unreliable painters I got quotes from). Look nowhere else for painters. Best Choice and Sam are your guys!!!

Let me just say in one word «wow». I can’t stop staring at my new walls in my bathroom. It puts the rest of my condo to shame! :) Sammy and Alex are true experts in repairing, resurfacing and painting walls. They were very respectful and friendly and finished my job in a timely manner. It’s always intimidating in the beginning to hire someone you don’t know to do a job but it’s such a blessing and a relief when you find someone who does a fantastic job. Thanks guys!

Professional, punctual, on-​budget, on-​time and meticulous! Sam and his crew did an amazing job on my 1920’s Spanish home! Sam took the time to meet with me to understand exactly how I wanted my home to look. I had no less than 8 different kinds of paints and colors — walls, ceilings and cabinets. He gave me an accurate bid for time and cost. The project was done on time and on budget — no sneaky extras like some contractors like to charge. His crew was courteous and very tidy. I am a bit of a clean freak and they really took the time to make sure the house was protected and tidied every day. Thank you Sam!

Will definitely be using Best Choice Painting Improvements for all my housing needs from this point forth :) Came by my house in a matter of an hour to give an estimate… and since it was urgent, they were able to come at 8am the very next morning to paint my entire condo. I looked through all the top rated painters on Unilocal and contacted about 5 of them. Sammy at Best Choice was the first to respond (one didn’t bother) I had a little floor plan drawn out to scale of the areas I needed painting and re-​texturing which I said I could send him but he said No he would prefer to come out and see exactly what we wanted and where we wanted it. OK cool — he was there four hours later, pen in hand and began writing a detailed quote as he listened to all our details and as we planned how to get this done. His estimate was right in the ballpark that I was thinking and we really liked how thoroughly he quizzed us about paint quality, texture style, etc. But… he was the first one so I kept the process going for three more companies — only one other came out in person the other two took my plan and info and just quoted from that. Anyway they were a little bit higher or they couldn’t do it as quickly and we went with Mr. Johnny on the spot (Sammy) and we never regretted it. He and his crew showed up EXACTLY when he said they would and went to work, moving furniture, covering EVERYTHING in plastic and without blasting of loud music like so many other trades seem to. Three days later the place had been transformed. He even did a little extra work that I added at the very last minute within the same time frame. Oh and he LEFT THE PLACE CLEAN. Yay Sammy — you rock and so does your crew. This is the company to hire for painting and wall texture — if only all companies believed in this level of customer service.

I am Sammy’s father. I taught him how to paint when he was three years old. He paints everything. He started looking for paintwork at nine years of age, after listening to the Jerky Boys. He painted Beavis and Butthead on my basement wall at ten. Once he pained an entire tree in my neighbor’s backyard. His attention to detail especially on that job was incredible. From the age of 16 to 19 he didn’t paint much but saw a lot of different color schemes, especially Purple Haze (if you know what I mean.) From 19 to 24 he served in the U.S. Marine Corps where he excelled at everything including marksmanship. After leaving the Corps, he repainted the yellow brick road (on the way to Oz) and that was the inspiration for Elton John’s «Goodbye Yellow Brick Road» song, because when Sammy was done with it, it could hardly be called yellow again. More like gold. He started his first painting company in Chicago after earning a degree in Finance from UIC (University of Illinois — Chicago). Couldn’t do the white collar, office work so he started painting. One too many nasty Chicago winters drove him to San Diego, where he re-​started his painting business. I’ve read the reviews. Sammy and his crew are terrific! They completely painted our high rise condo to our specifications before we moved in and with no supervision on our part. In fact we were 500 miles away. We specified the colors and sheens and they took it from there. Floor to ceiling! Perfect job. And then came back to fix areas that needed touch up 2 months later… At no extra cost! Highly recommend Sammy and his team! Will use them exclusively!

I want to say first of all that Sam and his helper did a BEAUTIFUL job painting. The paint looks absolutely gorgeous, I picked light colors and they are absolutely seamless and they really worked around my schedule to make sure they got me in on a day that worked for me. The reason why I gave only three stars is for the state in which they left my apartment. They kept cleaning their brushes in my kitchen sink, spilled paint all over my dishwasher and carelessly cleaned it up, I found paint all over my hardwood floors and when they SAW me following them around and cleaning up the paint spots they said nothing. I found large starch marks in my brand new porcelain sink from where they cleaned their brushes and it took me two hours to completely clean my floors.
They did a wonderful job with the paint but j wish they had shown more care to my property.

This would be 10 starts if it were possible! I read the reviews here on Unilocal,for Best Choice, and thought no one is THAT good, but I will go with them. I am SO happy I did! Sam and his crew are everything one would want in a house painting company, and more! Sam showed up on time to estimate, arrived the day he said, started work on time, did what I can only describe as a spectacular job, finished early and came in under budget! The small touches also made a difference, like removing all the light switch and power point plates, prior to painting, and WASHING them and the screws before replacing them! All furniture was covered with care, and floors cleaned afterwards. His team were polite and extremely courteous, I really can not recommend BC highly enough.

Let me cut right to the chase for those of you who don’t like to read the super long reviews. I brought out three different paint companies to look at painting the whole interior of my new house. I chose Best Choice because Sammy gave me the most confidence in his skills and his knowledge right off the bat. He didn’t disappoint a bit. He loves what he does and it shows in his work. If you need a painter, call him! Call him now, in fact, because after I start referring people to him, he’s going to be slammed! Haha. Okay, end of the short review.
If you’re still reading… My family and I just moved into our new house and the one thing that really made it feel like OUR home is that it was painted exactly the way I wanted from top to bottom. Best Choice is the one who made that happen.
Sammy knows his paint and he and his crew know exactly what they’re doing. His estimate was super reasonable for painting the ENTIRE house and he started and finished exactly when he said he would.
His whole crew was super respectful of our house and super trustworthy… exactly what you’re looking for when you’re letting people invade your house for four days. They’re also meticulous about their work for sure. I’ve had a few OCD friend ms come by and comment on how great of a job they did, and that’s saying a lot… even painting flawlessly in the most awkward and trickiest spots. It’s amazing how much painting a house can change it, but what Best Choice did… makes my house absolutely perfect to me!

I spoke to Sam and asked about a last minute paint job to coordinate with my move. I wanted to have the place painted before my stuff was moved in. He could not make it in the short time frame I had but he was quick to refer another person. I truly appreciate that he wanted to help me out.

I knew that a fresh coat of paint would help the bland living room, but I had never painted a room myself. After spending an afternoon online researching what was involved, I quickly called the local painters advertised online. They came equipped with paint chips and patience and helpful suggestions. They set up, mixed the custom color, and protected my flooring and wrapped up as I set the table for dinner. I now have a room I am proud of and it looks like a magazine in there!

Sam and his crew spent several days prepping including power wash, sanding, some stripping, and patching. He is EPA certified which is a huge deal for folks with older Craftsman homes. Prep went a couple of days extra but well worth it as the painting is always the easy part. I also had him paint the bathroom while they were waiting for the first exterior coat to dry. Great communication throughout the job, his crew was great & polite as well as good with my girlfriend’s dog, and the price was great even with using Dunn Edwards which goes for a bit more than many standard brands. The price was very reasonable compared to other bids and he submits receipts of all expenses which is a huge plus. Would happily recommend him.

Sam and co did a great job. They were courteous, kept the house clean and finished painting our whole house bang on time!
The finish was excellent. Easiest 5 stars ever.
