Walking distance from my old office, this place was a good option for breakfast, lunch or even dinner. They have everything you need but be prepared to pay a convenience fee for their location. There is parking around the building which helps and the views are awesome. You can literally watch the planes come in as you enjoy your drink, or snack. I miss this place. The owner is friendly and has most of his family working here. Drop in when in the area.

Bi-​rite is my neighborhood market. I go here for essentials like milk, eggs, beer, soda, liquor, magazines, salsas, red bulls, chips, plastic cutlery, paper plates, wine, liquor, cigarettes. They have a meat section which I was a little scared about and then one day I needed chicken cause I really hungry. And the chicken was great! It didn’t smell like the expected fishermans glove. Go to this place and sneak a peak at the nudie magazines while checking out!

Do not use this grocery store’s ATM, nor shop here. It dispensed less cash than requested, but debited my account for the full amount. Upon contacting the store clerk, I was told the machine sometimes runs out of money, but there’s nothing they could do. Stay away!

Everyone is so friendly and remember me when I come in and always have what I need and in walking distance. Yes it will be a little more than going to Walmart but it isn’t a huge chain store and just expect that when going. I appreciate everyone that works here :)

Happy to change my review! I went back a few more times when I didn’t have my car and it was walking distance. They changed the prices of their cigarettes, the deli looks like it has great sandwiches and slices of cheesecake! They also have calypso lemonade which I love!

it sucks cause i’ve been going for a while and i like to support local businesses.
i came tonight, was drinking, but again had one drink and one shot… so not alot
i bought deli stuff, asked what the ingredients were, my answer, «you have to ask the day person»
what the hell? i don’t work here or know the staff so just tell me you dont know. then when i paid i got charged the extra $ 0.50 for using my card even though i bought more on purpose to avoid the fee.
its not about the money, its about the principle!!! i questioned him and he just rambled on about something else thinking i didn’t notice.
this place is already overpriced but i wanted to support local business. if it were me, go down one block where they are chill, offer deals, and dont steal your $ 0.50. its on ivy and first. how important is your $ 0.50? that just cost you tons of future cash cause you were dishonest.
if i am wrong about the $ 0.50, i still heard you say «ask the day girl that makes the food for the ingredients». is it asking too much to know what i’m eating?
i gave a ²⁄₅ stars cause not everyone is bad in the store, but the management is in charge at all times. sorry for the good people in this store.

Love this place. I have been coming here for a couple years now getting deli sandwiches, but as of lately I have been exploring the place a bit more. I now pick up wine for my girlfriend and craft beer for myself. Great selection at a fair price. I definitely recommend Bi-​Rite to all!

Such a great little market that has everything you realized you forgot to get at the store when you go to cook. It’s much easier for me to walk here than to loose my parking spot on the busy streets around here. The 2 guys are extremely friendly, they have soda, wine, beer, liquor, tons of candy, canned goods, cold medicine, ketchup, silverware, I’ve cream, atm machine, fresh sandwiches… literally everything you can think of! I’m quite surprised their fresh fruits and vegetables they have are always really delicious also!

They cut keys quickly here! I was doing laundry & was able to pop on over there for $ 2.15.

This place is as good as it gets. It appears from the outside to be a liquor store, and for the size of it you will be amazed at the variety of craft beers and quality wines. It is also a market. Several times I have gone to the grocery store, gotten home, and realized I had forgotten an ingredient. I’ve walked down to the Bi-​Rite on the off chance they had what I needed and could save me a trip back, and they have rarely disappointed. They also have a decent deli with a surprising selection of meat, as well as reasonably priced cigars. Sammy and Will are two of the nicest guys you will meet, and seem to know everyone that comes into the store. A truly great neighborhood market.

Stoked when I found this little place. It is near my house and I walk here when I need an onion or something random I forgot at the grocery store. It is a good little market and they even have a deli. The guys behind the counter have always been really nice and try to make small conversation. I was surprised when they had soy milk and they have an impressive beer selection.

Sam and his entire family is great – this place is the BEST. The perfect neighborhood «corner market.» A little too pricey for everyday grocery shopping – but they have just about anything if you need it in a pinch and I love that! They’re the best for sundries, alcohol and even has a deli towards the front for cold cuts and sandwiches. I can’t say enough good things about this place. So glad they are in MY neighborhood.

Just moved to the area and was pleasantly surprised to discover the deli at Bi-​Rite Market. While going through the arduous task of unpacking and organizing all our stuff I wandered down to the local grocer to find something to eat. Walking into the Bi-​Right I was impressed by the selection of food and drinks. There was a man ordering a sandwich at the deli, so I wandered over to take a peak. After seeing the the deliverables, I was sold! Ordered a turkey, bacon and avocado on wheat with everything and a Greek salad to go. It was fresh, tasted great and affordable. On a return trip, we got the tabouli which was delicious! They have a fairly robust produce section and great Greek food. I’m definitely a repeat customer.

Love that Bi-​Rite Market is in my neighborhood and has a LOT to offer — from the «craft beer selection» that another reviewer mentioned, to the fully stocked deli section, to even making keys for you! These guys are always helpful, and once you’re a «regular» — it’s like small town America, with friendly hellos and suggestions of «what’s just freshly made today» in the deli. Great, Great, Great! OH!!! AND, I forgot to mention that Bi-​Rite Market has a VERY GRANT selection of liquors, as well. No need to drive all over looking for that special whiskey, etc… the probably (most likely) will have it!

This place is great. If you’re looking for a good craft beer selection, this is the place to check out! The service here is awesome and the prices are very reasonable. They have an amazing wine selection as well. You won’t be disappointed if you’re looking for a great bottle of savory wine!
Along with the amazing beer and wine selections, the food here is on point! The fresh deli makes it hard for me to walk past each time I walk in. From the few items I’ve tried here, I would HIGHLY recommend pretty much all the produce and meat they have available. My mother always sends me to Bi-​Rite to grab a couple pounds of meat for a weekend BBQ (even if that means driving from El Cajon to Downtown). I don’t mind.
If you’re looking for a tasty beer and nice deli sandwich on a hot summers day, this is the place to check out!

I moved to Bankers Hill a little while ago but didn’t check this place out because I thought it was just a liquor store. I know it says «market» in the name, but that often means nothing.
They really are a market, though!
Bi-​Rite has deli with prepared foods, fresh meat and produce, an impressive variety of pantry staples and specialty items, and household goods (the basics with unexpected things thrown in, like notebook paper). And they’ll special order things for you if you ask.
I do most of my shopping elsewhere, but I come here several times a week for the DELICIOUS freshly baked bread (ask for it, it’s hidden with the regular stuff) and ingredients for impromptu meals. And maybe Ben & Jerry’s. Just maybe. I used to make trips to Ralph’s for things Whole Foods and the like don’t carry, but I just come here instead because I enjoy talking with the guys who work here and I’d rather give them my money than anyone else.
Check it out, you won’t be disappointed!

Good spot to buy your Four Loko and toilet paper.

Its more of a 3.5. The store itself is like a miniature market /​big liquor store… they try to be a lil fancier than 1^st n Ivy down the street but overall most the dudes that run it are good ppl… back wen I lived down the street they used to rent movies also. they’ve been around for awhile now an I hope they continue to stay there… as a local Its nice to have options when going to the store

What can you say, it is a Liquor Store but wait, a market too.
They even have fresh produce and meat at this little market.
You really could go in here and make a whole meal from their items. A pretty good meal at that.
Our normal purchase at this market is beer, I won’t lie but sometimes I need some milk or eggs. Bi-​Rite saves the day. Seeing that they are on my same block, sure beats having to drive 10 minutes to Albertson’s or Ralphs.
It is a little on the pricier side but hey, you are paying for the convenience.
They also rent DVDs, have a pretty good wine selection and sell misc items such as sports hats and sunglasses. For being in the neighborhood it is pretty darn convenient!
