Small store but they always have what I need for my art classes. Staff is nice. I go in here a lot and the main girl who runs the place has helped me out a lot of questions and other stuff. I would only go here if I was on the SDSU campus, mainly because of the parking and walk to the store.

Invaluable place for the art department. INVALUABLE! Other art colleges should be jealous. It’s hard to find parking, and harder to find the store if you’re not familiar with the campus, but the staff is very helpful and welcoming.
They obviously don’t have the selection of the downtown store because it’s the size of a classroom, but the store is PACKED with as much stuff as possible. It’s small but clean, and the staff is very knowledgeable. They also keep the same prices as the rest of the Blick chain, which doesn’t seem to be the norm for other corporations.
If you shop there enough, the staff will learn your name and it becomes like a neighborhood Cheers… sans alcohol.

Some stuff like basic school supplies, you are better off buying them somewhere else. It’s highly recommended that you get a card with them.
The store gets really busy during the first week of school. The people their are not very socialable or friendly, but they are sort of helpful. I never taken any art classes, and my professor gave me a list that the store has which is convinent. The down side is that, when you ask them where things are located or what does the items look like. They give you a funny look, like «are you serious?» or «are you dumb or something?».
sometimes they do their own discounted sales, but other than that they’re an okay store.

They don’t have as large of a selection as the big downtown/​little italy store or the Artist Supply off of Washington St., but they have necessities. It’s good if you’re in need in a pinch before class. It’s sad that Art Etc went out because they actually had different stuff and it was just nicer to have a local, non-​chain, non-​corporate place functioning in the art building.
Sometimes the employees are not as knowledgeable because they’re just state students who needed a job. If you ask one of the managers about stuff though, they’ll know better what they’re talking about.

Dick Blick opened up in the old Art Etc store on the sdsu campus. This small shop can get really busy when all the students are trying to get their supplies for first day of class. Employees are super nice and helpful.
Its located in front of the art building on 4th floor. They not only have most of the supplies dick blick has but carries exactly what the teachers ordered so you can get things the store on india st does not have like sheets of copper for metal students.
