Bluewater Vacation Homes

We rented a beautiful beachfront beach house in La Jolla from Bluewater Vacation Homes this past weekend. The house was perfect; it was very clean, the photos were accurate, and we had a great time! Bluewater was very responsive and communicative, and remained on call to answer all of our questions, and were extremely helpful. We will definitely be back, and would definitely recommend this rental company!

Let me just start with that I would rather sleep under a freeway bridge than stay at a bluewater vacation house. The unprofessionalism throughout the whole company is disgusting. The house we stayed in had nothing inside and many things were already broken (which they charge us for). The manager, Stefani or however she spells her name was proven wrong for multiple charges over the phone and she started to act like there was a connection problem. Just do yourself a favor and don’t stay with this company.

Beware of shady business practices & fraudulent charges with Bluewater Vacation Homes!!! My cousins and I rented a cottage in Pacific Beach, San Diego and after the first night we got an email from them stating that there was a noise complaint coming from our cottage. Without discussing it with us or showing any kind of proof of this complaint… BAM! They blast us with an immediate an unreasonable $ 500 fee on the credit card that they have on file.
This noise complaint was questionable at best, the police weren’t called on us and no one came by to tell us that were loud. We had our friend and his pregnant wife over for a bbq dinner then they left and me and my 2 cousins went out to the bars. By the time we got back we were exhausted. We played some cards and one of us even passed out on the couch during the game.
With Bluewater keeping your credit card on record so they can swipe it whenever they want and not even give you a heads up about it, this is clearly taking advantage of that. I don’t know what kind of authority Bluewater thinks that they have, but issuing a $ 500 citation for a questionable noise complaint is outrageous. You would expect something like that to happen if you booked accommodations in North Korea, not San Diego!
If you are looking to book a spot in San Diego, don’t fall for the Bluewater trap, book with another company!

The reservation process was easy and we felt well informed leading up to the vacation. We appreciated the activity and vendor suggestions sent to us prior to arrival. Upon arrival, we were amazed at how beautiful, clean, and well decorated the home was! It was very true to its online description. It made for a very comfortable stay and we felt right at home. Every time we callled Bluewater throughout our stay, we were greeted with friendly and helpful staff. We had such a great time, we’ve decided to make San Diego an annual vacation and we will definitely be booking through Bluewater next time. Thank you again!

My family and I recently had the pleasure of renting a cottage from Blue Water Vacation Homes.
I spoke with Kim to book the rental as I was having trouble over the internet. She was beyond helpful and easy to speak with.
Our vacation rental was clean and had everything my family and I needed for our 6 day stay. And again, everything was super clean!
My only complaint with the home was the mattress in the one bedroom– it was so extremely soft that when you sat on the bed, your legs went up and over the bed frame and even my 7 year old refused to sleep on the «squishy» bed. My husband and I ended up sleeping on the pull-​out sofa in the living room by night 2 because it was so uncomfortable.
I liked that on our arrival date, Blue Water Vacation Homes called to make sure we had made it in safely and needed anything.
My family and I would definately book another rental with Blue Water Vacation Homes again. Thanks for a great trip!

We have used Bluewater Vacation Homes 3 times to rent a bay front home. They have always been responsive throughout the rental process, and the home that we have rented is beautiful and very well maintained.

They were very responsive and nice to work with. We were very unhappy with the property we had rented and they did all they could to make us happier.

I submitted an inquiry and received a phone call from Kendra within 30 minutes (7pm on a Sunday night, WHOA!) She was very direct and to the point which I LOVE. I booked a home she suggested within minutes. She made it super easy. Click, click, click… done!
I received an e-​mail with recommendations in the area with discounts and CLEAR instructions.
The home was perfect. Location was perfect. Set up was perfect. It was EXACTLY as Kendra had described.
We experienced one very minor snag and reached out to the after hours service. The after hours service answered the phone and assisted us within seconds.
We just left today and reached out to book the same property for the Labor Day holiday. Once again Kendra called AND e-​mailed within 30 minutes (Sunday afternoon, WHOA) and the property is now booked!
Use this company they have their processes down and ask for Kendra, she is something else!

We arrived at Casa de las Olas on ⁵⁄₃₁ and departed on ⁶⁄₃ and our time spent there was nothing but perfect. The cottage is absolutely adorable and the perfect size for my brother, mother, and me. It is one block from the beach and one block from the restaurants of La Jolla.
Pros–
There was a constant wind that kept the cottage cool.
There were skylights that let in beautiful natural light.
The house has great style and furniture.
The bathroom is very spa-​like.
The washer and dryer was nice to have.
The heater kept us warm at night.
Jose and Zara were very accommodating and helped with everything we needed.
This cottage would also be great for a couple on vacation or honeymooning. In conclusion, Bluewater Rentals is an incredibly accommodating company with beautiful houses that will leave a lasting impression on you and your loved ones.

This is one of the best experiences we have ever had. It was a breeze booking with BlueWater Vacation Homes especially the last minute. We did not know that ComicCon was in town and STILL we they found us a lovely cottage close to the beach. The place was clean, affordable and quite lovely. We were very impressed with the servcie, they called several times during our stay to make sure all was okay. Thank you BlueWater, you are AWESOME!

Kendra and the Bluewater Vacation Home team were outstanding in service. They communicated with us every step of the way and made the check-​in/​check-​out process a breeze. We had a scratched up frying pan in the rental, and they sent someone out to buy a new one and offered to pick up anything else that the condo may have needed. They even did this cheerfully, on a weekend! Lovely people and very professional. We highly recommend working with them!

We had booked a vacation stay at rental home in La Jolla, California, offered through Bluewater Vacation Homes for a week in October, 2013. Upon our arrival, we discovered the following issues:
* Master bath toilet was running continuously and leaking
* Bedroom window latch was broken and lying on the window sill so window could not be locked
* Lower balcony vertical blinds had a missing slat and were so twisted as to be inoperable
* TV remote was not working properly
* Refrigerator was imbalanced causing it to rock and would roll forward whenever opened
* Two bathroom light bulbs were burned out
* Light switches, doorknobs and handrails were dirty and sticky to touch
We immediately called Bluewater’s management office from the condo telephone. After waiting over an hour and receiving no reply from Bluewater, we decided to check out immediately because we could not secure the property for our safety. We notified Bluewater’s office before leaving that we were checking out. At no point during that second call did Bluewater offer any solution to the problems.
After a three-​hour drive home, we discovered five messages on our home answering machine attempting to address the condo’s problems. Bluewater management has never been able to explain why they did not call us back at the condo or on our cell phone the day we checked in. Our cell phone number was specifically requested and provided well before our check-​in date.
Bluewater Vacation Homes promises a well-​maintained vacation rental that is «thoroughly clean and sanitized». They also emphasize communication and promise «We’re here to answer any questions and make sure you have everything you need before, during and after your stay». Bluewater Vacation Homes failed to keep their promises and refused our request for a full refund.
Update: Just a little over four weeks after this incident we did receive a full refund from Bluewater Vacation Homes.

My family rented the Nautilus Retreat during Spring Break. I live in San Diego myself, but my family is from Europe and South America. They come to visit me every year and through an internet search I found Bluewater vacation homes by chance. My first contact with them by phone was very inviting and I met office staff in La Jolla for a tour. The employee was very informative, which was helpful as I had to relay everything she was telling me in order for my family to feel comfortable with making the payment online without seeing the place personally. After making the initial deposit, the house I planned on renting became unavailable do to reasons outside of the companies control. Instead of me having to start the search all over again, they offered my family an upgrade to a house with more square footage and a swimming pool for the same price. The upgraded house was in the same quiet neighborhood, minutes from the beach and downtown La Jolla stores.
After my family arrived, we had some minor issues (items that needed fixing) and the staff never made me feel that my requests were unreasonable or annoying. For instance the knob on the shower fell off, and staff never questioned how it happened, they just took care of it. The maintenance services were scheduled at our convenience and within 24 hours. Staff always called me after to make sure that everything was handled to our satisfaction.
They offered us an extra hour to check out when they found out what time we were leaving for the airport to make sure the check out time was convenient.
Overall a very good experience. My family definitely will their services next year and for many years to come

We worked with Bluewater Vacation Homes on our recent vacation to Mission Beach, San Diego. They made the entire process from booking through our stay very easy and were not only professional, but also polite and helpful as well.
We were provided more info than we’ve ever received when renting a home (our go to is VRBO and you just have to go with what’s on the site and the reviews that make it onto the page). It was also a HUGE bonus to not have to pay a huge deposit or pay for the entire stay up front. We were given tons of photos and they were all accurate but yet still did not show the true beauty of the home right on the beach with amazing views of the sunset and crashing waves just a stone’s throw from the front gate.
There was also a nice representative from BVH on site on our second day doing a check in for neighboring property and he graciously came over to help us figure out the semi-​tricky aka fancy remote system and told us if we needed anything else to call him anytime.
Go with a pro and work with BVH. minimize your risk while maximizing your time and money!
