History
Established in 2011.
In December 2011, executive chef and owner, Matt Richman opened the doors to table 926. With the knowledge that there are simply too many flavors in the world, let alone Southern California to have a set menu, Matt has created an ever-evolving menu that focuses on highlighting seasonal flavors that are local to san diego.
In 2012 San Diego Home and Garden Magazine recognized the flavors that were coming out of the kitchen at table 926 and named it a silver fork winner, an honor that was repeated in 2013.
Matt continues to travel, always looking to enhance his pallet with flavors from around the world.
Meet the Business Owner
Matt R.
Business Owner
Matt is a rare, san diego native who loves sports and tapping into his heritage for inspiration when blending California ingredients with Latino and Mediterranean flavors.
The La Jolla Country Day Graduate left the beaches of San Diego behind when he spent time at the University of New Mexico.
In the winter of 1999, he enrolled at the prestigious California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, beginning his culinary career at highly rated kitchens there.
After graduation, Matt moved back to San Diego, gaining experience and eventually becoming sous chef at Pacifica Del Mar. Always looking to grow in the culinary world, Matt, again waved goodbye to his hometown to accept a position at the acclaimed restaurant, Ortanique; located on «the mile» in Coral Gables, FL.
Hoping to apply the knowledge gained while in Miami, Matt returned to San Diego as executive chef at My Place in La Jolla and Illume Bistro in Little Italy before opening his own restaurant, Table 926.
