Brew Hop

Loved this brewery tour!!! They picked us up from the place we were staying in OB, even getting there a couple minutes early. Summer was super helpful in setting everything up, even after our group had to make some changes at the last minute. She even provided recommendations for which breweries to visit, and they did not disappoint. The driver and host were awesome and super professional; we rode in a nice Escalade and the driver had a TCP license so we could drink in the car. The host brought us all our tasters (you get as many as you want) so we never had to wait at the bar. Not sure if I ever want to do a tour solo again; this experience has me spoiled.

Decided to do a beer tour for my gf’s little sister’s b day. Great tour and great service! Tony was our driver/​tour guide, very knowledgeable about the breweries and beer in general. Very personable and enjoyable. great guide and would definitely recommend and do again!

This is my first Unilocal review, and have no intentions of making any others any time soon, but I promised that I would leave one and it really is very well deserved. If you’re having any trepidations over the price, believe me when I say that this company is worth every cent. Even before I even booked anything, Summer went above and beyond with helping me plan the perfect tour. She listened to what my girlfriend and I liked, and was able to either recommend or steer us away from different breweries based on our preferences in taste. She was not only very knowledgeable in the ways of beer, but was also obviously well versed in the area which she showed by recommending we not go to a certain brewery on the day we were planning because of a Baseball game nearby that would overcrowd the place.
Tony, our tour guide for the day, picked us up right from our motel which was a huge plus. The ride was a black Lincoln Navigator which was comfy, spacious, and in pristine condition. We ended up choosing to go to The Lost Abbey, Ballast Point, and Alesmith, which I won’t go to in much detail in of themselves because these companies aren’t reflections of the company that this review is about, but I will say that I still thoroughly enjoyed all three of them and they also get my recommendations. Regardless, Tony was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and did an excellent job of feeling like a good friend as he explained both the history of the breweries and the specifics of every beer we tried without ever becoming uninteresting. He even stopped at a Carl’s Jr. at one point at my request. Great guy.
Brew Hop obviously takes great pride in itself which shines through in the amazing service you’ll receive from its knowledgeable and over the top friendly employees. I was a little concerned over the price at first myself but no other company that I researched gives the type of private and intimate tours that they do. I would definitely do it all over again and hope to have another amazing experience with them in the future. Keep up the great work guys.
P. S. Sorry for the month late review but I was quite drunk immediately following the tour and it kind of fell to the wayside but I promised Tony a shining review… so here ya go!

Brew Hop Tours was amazing! They were so nice throughout the process of planning out our tour date, time and price. The day of the tour our tour guide was fun and knowledgable on the types of beers and breweries we visited. We all had a very fun and memorable time! I highly recommend Brew Hop!

We’ve used this company twice now and we’ve never been disappointed! We used them for a personal tour for two people and a tour for ten people and both have been excellent! Stephen and Summer have both been our guides and not only have they been accommodating but they’re very knowledgable about all of the breweries and beer we’ve had on the tour. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone!

This is the only way to your SD breweries! After my second tour with Brew Hop, I figured it was time to write a review. Both times we were lucky enough to have Sara as our tour guide. She is friendly, knowledgeable, very accommodating and super cool!
Both times we have toured three breweries, and we had amazing times. I would recommend Brew Hop for anyone who wants a relaxed, stress-​free and easy day of beer tasting. Don’t risk driving — have Brew Hop drive you around!

Had a amazing trip on Saturday. My son purchased the limo for my birthday and we went to Stone, Green Flash & Ballast Point. Our drive Tony was very amazing and knowledgeable about the stops.

We had such a great tour with Brew Hop. Tony was knowledgable about all the beers and breweries without being stuffy. He was unfailingly courteous and really went the extra mile to make sure we had a great day.

We had previously booked with Five Star Tours and were treated horribly (see review) and I called Summer on a Friday evening to see if they had a space for 11 ladies the following day. She went into superwoman mode and found us a giant party bus for the same price we would have paid for a sad van at Five Star. She called me personally multiple times and made me feel completely taken care of. The definition of customer service!
The tour was great, as was the party bus. Summer got us hooked up at Green Flash too :).

Sorry, this review is a bit late (life gets in the way sometimes… dang it).
So I did a Beer Tour as a surprise for my boyfriends and my, first anniversary– last year. He isn’t much for wine and we love ourselves some yummy beer. With our schedules we could only do the tour on a Monday and when I researched other companies they could cancel last minute if they couldn’t get enough people to boo (I assume Monday isnt a big beer drinking day for most). So that would suck and only leave me scrambling at the last minute if it happened. So when I came upon Brew Hop I found out that I could book this trip for just the two of us and it would be confirmed! Well that sold me. So I booked with Summer and explained how we wanted to be picked up in OB but wanted to do tours of the North County Breweries. She said okay and helped with suggestions on which ones she could take us to. Then I booked it! And great thing it was confirmed… no need to worry about last minute cancellations. I even got a hospitality discount for working at a hotel. Yay!
Summer showed up and surprised us both with beers to enjoy on the way to our first stop. Modern Times was brand new at that time and the cans didn’t even have labels yet. So cool
.
I can make this review super long and tell you all about each great thing on our tour but again… life is busy so who has time to read all that. But Summer is so freaking knowledgeable on beer. That lady can answer any question. She also knows everyone at the breweries so it was great being with her– felt a bit like VIP. She would help with samples and learn what you liked to help with getting you more samples of what you liked. It was great.
The only few tips: 1) Don’t eat much beforehand or you will obviously feel too full during the trip. Bring snacks to enjoy. 2) Take a picture of your favorite drinks or find a way to record what you enjoyed. You may not remember later.
I say overall be sure to book a Brew Tour. I am already looking at booking a new tour for our second anniversary that’s coming up. We enjoyed being pampered by being driven around while drinking beer :) Oh and learning stuff too

I can’t say enough about the amazing customer service I experienced using Brew Hop. From my very first phone conversation with Summer, through the follow up after our tour, Brew Hop is the best! We planned a private tour for 20 people for my husband’s 40^th birthday and it couldn’t have been a better experience. Every recommendation Summer made was fantastic and our entire group had a great time. Summer was so knowledgable and all stops on our tour, including the pizza delivery directly to our table at Mother Earth, could not have been better. Both hosts and our driver we’re also fantastic. Everyone was so accommodating with all of our requests. Thanks to Brew Hop, my husband entered a new decade with a truly memorable tour!

If I could give more stars I would!!! This tour company was a complete pleasure to work with. I decided to book a private tour for 2 for my boyfriends birthday. And boy were we spoiled!!!
From planning our tour to booking our hotel, Summer was a complete delight! Summer was very knowledgeable on the breweries in the area and was very attentive to the types of beers we liked. So picking between the over 70 different breweries was much easier with her assistance. She even hooked us up with a great deal on a hotel at the Gaslamp Marriot. She made everything so easy!!!
Now on to the tour itself. Lars picked us at our hotel and was prepared with water and a birthday beer for the road! Lars was awesome. He was very accommodating and really paid attention to what we liked and didn’t like. If there was a beer we were not a fan of, he would quickly take it from us and replace it with another one to try. And if we liked it… he made sure that cup was full! The one thing I noticed is at every brewery we went to, Lars knew the crew and they knew him. Therefore at every brewery we seemed to get perfect service. Lars even took us on the tours of the breweries himself. No staff needed so I assume that means they trust him! That only added to our experience. Not once were we bored or left to wander. He was there when we needed him and gave us some space when it was appropriate. Just a perfect tour!
On a side note, to prove how nice and professional this company is, I share this story. When Lars came to pick us up I thought I heard him say his name was Louise. So the entire day we called him Louise and he never corrected us once. It was not until we got back to the hotel that he mentioned his name was Lars. I felt like a ding bat but he was so nice about it! One more reason why I loved this company and this tour! At every turn it was 5 star service!

Had a great trip with Lars. We were a group of four and did the five hour tour. We went to 3 breweries and learned a lot. Not to mention had some great beer! In the process I turned my sister into a beer girl (crossing fingers). The food trucks at the breweries were awesome too. Lars our tour guide was very attentive and informative. He suggested beers based on our preferences and we loved them. Would highly recommend and plan on doing it again.

Worth every penny! Our guide Steve was super knowledgable and took excellent care of our whole group. Highly recommended and will be back soon.

I have to say, I’ve never been on a brewery tour, nor did I know much about beer, but after spending my 30^th bday on a tour with Summer and Larz I learned so much, and tasted some really fantastic beer I wouldn’t have normally. The tour was so fun, the transportation was flawless, we were entertained the whole time and never had an empty hand! I would highly recommend this tour company and their staff! Thanks for an awesome day!

Summer was amazing!!! My husband and I took a tour when we were visiting this summer. We had a BLAST. I can’t believe how knowledgeable one can be about beer. We learned a lot and got to taste some really cool and different beers. It was also a nice ride :) We got to choose the music we wanted and we were allowed to have beer on the ride. We HIGHLY recommend.

we had a beer tasting tour about a month ago (sorry didn’t have time to write review until now) — summer — the owner and guide definitely deserves 5 star rating. She did her thorough disclaimer professionally. We tasted almost 17 different beers. She was very knowledgeable and presented the tour in a very fun and personable way — everyone of us had a great time — highly recommended!

Our drive in the Navigator started with a bomber of Black Market Brewing wheat and the signing of a nudity, belligerence, etc. disclaimer. We were able to tour and sample brew from five breweries. She kept the brew flowing at a good clip. I enjoyed the ability to tour the facilities in a much smaller group. She answered all of our questions and had alot of factoids to fill in the gaps. I was zombie-​mode tired from the get-​go and I ended up enjoying myself and learning a few things. I can’t think of anything more she could have done to make my experience better.
