BSA Flooring & Window Coverings

We redid all the floors in our house. I spoke to a number of flooring vendors before selecting BSA and ultimately chose Bob because of his excellent customer service and constant willingness to help us understand all aspects of our project. As we looked at flooring products, Bob went out of his way to patiently help us find good choices, even hand delivering samples as he was able and not pushing anything on us. When we got toward the estimate, Bob was great at explaining his very reasonable quote and why he recommended one thing over another. Bob is honest, straight forward, and seems to just want to do a great job for his customers above all else.
Once we hired Bob and started the project, he continued to give us great communication, constant updates and fulfilled all promises on his end. His installation team was excellent and Bob made sure they did a top notch job. He continued to give us fair pricing and good advice as things came up (such as sub floor prep we hadn’t expected). We were able to finish the project on time and as promised, with no hitches and no surprises.
I can’t recommend BSA and Bob enough. This is an honest company and Bob couldn’t be easier to work with. Having had bad contractor experiences in the past (with extremely poor communication and failure to meet deadlines), I can say that Bob and his team are great at what they do. I will happily use him for future projects.

Great Service, and we had blinds installed that are great.

I bought my condo which came with really ancient window coverings. Bob came over, measured and gave me a very reasonable quote. Then he installed them, a double honey comb cellular shade to insulate against the sun in my dining room, and classy horizontal blinds for my front window. I’m very satisfied with both-​especially the honeycomb cellular shade. I don’t have a/​c and the room doesn’t get too hot. Personalized service and a great job. Can’t beat that!

Bob is DEPENDABLE, HONEST & has high INTEGRITY. I know from experience because his company did my remodel to perfection.

Bob came to my home with floor samples to re-​do our kitchen floor. He did not push one product over the other, letting us choose what we liked best. He was honest about the price differences between products and we chose the product we liked best. When he gave us the bid, I was amazed at what a great price it was. He told me exactly what they would have to do, what the labor cost was going to be and was up-​front about everything. They came out when they said they would and got the job done in a very professional manner.
This is the 2^nd time I’ve used them, but the first time to post. I have since referred BSA to others. I am thoroughly impressed with Bob’s knowledge, professionalism and honesty.

I’ve had the pleasure of doing business with Bob and BSA Flooring on two or three separate occasions, at two houses, 15 years apart. In each instance, my experience was so good that I recommended them to friends, who have been as happy with the results as I have been.
Bob is a straight arrow as far as his business dealings, and he’s very experienced and diligent and stays informed about the latest products and techniques. He’s also an excellent communicator and very patient, as others have pointed out. All of that factors into the excellent experience that I and others have had with BSA Flooring.
At the first house, my now-​ex and I purchased engineered hardwood from a large, high-​profile flooring store on Miramar Rd. and had them install it. We wanted it glued down, not floated. When the flooring began separating from the slab within three months of installation, the store blew us off until my ex stopped payment on the credit card transaction. Only then did they start returning phone calls. As we did battle with them (they threatened a lien on the house at one point) and the manufacturer was called in, we learned that not only had the installation had been extremely shoddy, which we knew (with putty everywhere to compensate for sloppy measuring and cutting), they’d sold us the wrong product for the application.
In the meantime, through a friend, we’d met Bob, who began advising us about how to proceed and encouraged us over and over to work with the other company to get the matter resolved. In the end, the other company removed the flooring, and we were so disgusted with them that we turned the job of replacing it over to Bob. And were we ever glad we did! He conducted multiple moisture tests and determined that an underlying problem (though not the reason the flooring had come up) was moisture, which could have affected the warranty on the new flooring if problems arose. We had the drainage around the house, which wasn’t to code, addressed, and then Bob had his people begin installation of the new floor, and there was not a single problem with it for the 14 years we lived in the house (unless you count the time a delivery company gouged the floor, and a couple of boards needed replacing – a repair we had Bob take care of and that was unnoticeable). Bob also sold us the window coverings in the house.
Flash forward 15 years. A few months ago, the flooring in the living room of my new house began separating from the slab. This was flooring that the previous owners had purchased from Lumber Liquidators and had installed by their people. By the time I realized what was happening, about a year after moving in, there was an enormous bubble of hardwood in the middle of the floor, and I called Bob. He pulled a board up, diagnosed a moisture problem, noting that there had not been a moisture barrier or sealer of any kind used before the flooring was installed. It was so bad, the glue came up with the boards, and it was permeated by mildew. The entire floor had to come up, the slab dry out and the mildew treated. A leak detection company couldn’t find a slab leak or any other leak, and the conclusion was that the floor had been installed incorrectly, just as the one 15 years ago at the other house had been. After a few weeks of drying Bob did a moisture test and found that one area had higher than normal moisture. A general contractor couldn’t find any reason other than perhaps a moister than average location, so Bob researched the new generation of sealers and advised a «belt and suspenders» approach to head off any future problems. The new flooring was installed last week, over carefully sealed concrete, and to say that I’m thrilled with the results is an understatement. The installers were first rate and did an outstanding job, and the floor is so beautiful that I don’t want to put the rug back down!
Reading through the other reviews here, I’m frankly beyond incredulous at BP’s review, as it’s so far out of line with everyone else’s here and certainly with my own, multiple experiences with this business. I would take that review with handfuls of salt. I frankly don’t believe it and believe the person must either have impossibly high standards or an ax to grind. Bob is the best, and I wouldn’t even consider calling in another flooring contractor if I need one again.

We so wanted to like Bob/​BSA, and after seeing all these RAVE 5-​star reviews thought it would be a slam dunk. I bet this place can do carpet and blinds just fine, but undergoing a big marmoleum job was a nightmare. The real issue seemed to boil down to BSA not being able to manage the subcontractor (or the job itself). First off this guy asked for 50% down, which is illegal because their company isn’t bonded/​insured for enough to ask more. Waited weeks to get scheduled, ok fine, but when installation began we were told 4 days. Three days in they had only completed maybe ¼ of the job. We asked for a new realistic end date, we had to get really direct and upset before they would provide an actual date, which was another week out. This totally screwed with our schedule and had to end up renting a hotel room. Okay fine, at least the job would be done, right?! Nope. They ran out of material and it took over a month since they started and though the rest of the flooring arrived, we still didn’t have a time scheduled for them to lay the final piece of marmoleum. The reason they ran out– «The flooring doesn’t come in precise amounts.» Really… so you really have no idea how much you’re ordering?! I’m so glad that they did finish the job. At least the floor that’s gone down looks nice, but the baseboards looked so shotty and so did our walls. They kept punting touchups because they’re just «SO busy», which include lines of caulk they didn’t remove after moving our baseboards down, chunks of drywall missing (I didn’t know installing sheet was so violent), cracks in the baseboards, brad nails exposed, and epoxy smears. Bob finally did come out to do a few hours of touchup, and said he completed our list, which he didn’t :(. And YES we had to make a list of things to fix, because he couldn’t do that himself. I spent literally days doing the touchup they should have. They even got plenty of epoxy on our carpeted stairs, because they thought we were replacing it soon anyway– NOT true. They didn’t clean-​up the installed floor, instead they left it dusty and grimy. In fact there was dust on every possible surface b/​c they didn’t cover more than maybe 2 or 3 things in our entire house. They left half-​full coffee cups in random places, including over our desktop computer and artwork. We’re lucky more stuff didn’t get ruined. We would’ve been more forgiving, but it’s just SO insanely difficult to work with this company and there’s always an excuse that doesn’t make sense to anyone with half a brain. SO happy to be rid of this nightmare. The only reason I can think they have any decent reviews is because other people had very small projects like a single kitchen, or they’re friends. I will give them credit for actually putting all the flooring down. BSA also didn’t issue any change orders and wanted to charge us THOUSANDS MORE without even conceding all the extra work they caused us. They threatened us with an intent to file a lien because they wanted the extra money– despite the fact that our contract didn’t put our home up for collateral, it wasn’t even filed at the correct time to cover the work they did and that there were NO change orders. Crazy unprofessional. AWFUL experience. Find someone else to do your marmoleum job unless you’re ready for an aneurysm.

We found BSA through Unilocal and first off a big thanks to everyone who took the time to review, otherwise we would have never discovered this wonderful business. My wife and I had reached the point being ready for flooring for our vintage trailer. We decided on marmoleum flooring. We spent a frustration Saturday going to about 5 places that claimed to be factory representatives. I put marmoleum in the find window on Unilocal and we were off to see Bob. This was such a wonderful experience that we just used BSA on another project. My only complaint is with myself for taking so long to write this view that is way over due.

Bob replaced our blinds for us and they are beautiful. He showed up when he was supposed to, was fast and efficient, he knows his stuff! We were just talking about him yesterday saying he needs to come back and do the master bedroom. When we need new carpet or flooring we will also use BSA. Great job and great customer service.

I just have to say… First off that I don’t usually write reviews. But if i am going to write one it would be about Bob and BSA Flooring. ;) From the very get GO! Bob came out of his way to my house in Eastlake on a whim that i may hire him, knowing ahead of time that i had two other bids before him. He would be one of three that i needed in order to make the best decision financially for my homes carpet and blinds. Bob told me he was busy and had a a lot going on that day, I explained to him that i too was in a hurry and needed to receive one last bid in order to get the ball moving on my project. Bob selflessly put aside his day and came to my house and gave me a bid… ON THE SPOT!!! Needless to say I hired him. He even was willing to work with me on the expenses, I really appreciated that.
One week later carpet was in my house… Beautifully done, his workers are SUPER! Professional, I wasn’t there to help move all the stuff around. I guess Bob and I miss communicated a little bit on our dates but that was fine. The guys were so AMAZINGLY PROFFESIONAL AND HELPFUL that when I got home and had seen all the great work they had done I tipped them each 20 $ for a job WELL done.
I really have never encountered such a hospitable crew and such professional behavior. If there were 6 stars to be given… THEY WOULD GET IT. HERE BOB! ******!! ;)

We bought a house that had high end window coverings. The kitchen for some reason had no shades and when the afternoon sun came in it was blinding! We called Bob and BSA and had him give us some selections. We picked out one that was affordable yet matched our other high end ones. Bob was incredibly knowledgeable and patient during the whole process. He installed them perfectly and I absolutely LOVE them! I use them daily and love the way they look. I would highly recommend BSA for all your Window Treatments and I would use them again in a heart beat.
