History

Established in 1996.

The Point Loma community is a beautiful little city with its own relaxed pace and sea-​faring culture within close proximity to the hustle and bustle of downtown San Diego. It has been a pleasure to be a part of this hidden jewel of city that boasts of excellent restaurants serving fresh seafood and just about any supply a seaman or water sportsman may need. For the last 14 years, we are proud to have hosted accommodations for a litany of groups and annual and seasonal events such as the Portugese Festa, Day at the Docks, various marathons, fishing competitions and sportfishing events, Merchant Marines, and racing Regatta in the immediate and surrounding areas of Point Loma. The Cabrillo Inn & Suites is located within walking distance to the H&M Landing and America’s Cup Yacht Harbor. We are conveniently located 2 miles from the San Diego Airport, Ocean Beach, Old Town, and downtown San Diego and the Convention Center. Come join us and let us welcome you to beautiful San Diego!

My name is Dan, I am the Manager of the hotel and my wife and I run this hotel, Our hotel was built in the mid 1980’s it is located in the heart of Point Loma. This property is quaint 18 room property. We have a great common area located on the second floor balcony that has beautiful ocean views. We are perfect for the budget conscious traveler. We have a Great location and we have Free Parking, Free WiFi, Cable with HBO. Please come stay with us!

Had such a great stay! Stayed here just for the weekend but could have stayed a whole week! Fridge, microwave, and decent sized tub. And the awesome view was icing on the cake. Friendly staff (Dan and Joy) made sure we were satisfied throughout our stay. Will definitely come back next time I’m in town.

It is my understanding or perhaps suspicion, that this hotel is under new ownership, as I have considered staying at near by hotels before, dis including this one as an option.
The room was adorable, newly redone (or looked as such) & absolutely adorable!
My room was the last one available and still terrific accommodations. The owners are splendid & very kind. The room for myself was not large. If you are looking to stay in San Diego you will probably not be in it long anyhow, as the weather is brilliant & there is too much to see outside.
The sound was non existent. The hotel was full &!could hear not a peep inside.

I needed a hotel for ten nights, and I wasn’t looking to spend over $ 100 per night so I gave this place a try. The staff is super friendly and the room service was excellent. And I was actually pretty surprised at how nice the room was. Everything was in order and very clean. So for the price, definitely five stars. I would definitely stay here again.

Great place!!! the front desk guy was really nice & friendly… gave me a room on the 4th floor away from the street noise. Covered parking, the room was very nice, clean and the bed was very comfortable, and OMG soft towels! Best place I’ve stayed yet. Clean hard wood floors, a frig and microwave in the room. Grocery store right across the street, awesome view of the water, harbor, and downtown skyline.

I really enjoyed Cabrillo. The room was great. I had a frig and microwave. The bad was comfortable which is important to me. We had covered parking. I reserved my room online and messed up the dates but they saved my room. Kindness is hard to find but I had it here. When in San Diego this is where I choose to go. The price was right.

Great location. The staff is very nice. The lobby area is old and does not give a nice first impression. The room was very clean and updated, however, the mattress was too firm and the pillows flat. I did not sleep well. If they were to change the beds/​pillows (I’d say 4 stars), I will be back. All in all it’s a nice place.

Stayed here last weekend and had a wonderful experience. The recent renovations make this place a real bang for your buck! My room was nice and clean. The man and wife that run this place are some of the nicest people. I would recommend this place.

I had a very pleasant stay here with my beau. He gave me full reigns to find something nice. We are not wealthy In anyway. I was expecting very low quality but this place gave me a pleasant surprise. Found them on
. Staff is nice. Not too over the top but courteous enough. We’re a very chill couple and didn’t expect a 5 star service but we find this quaint Inn very adequate. Nice new wood floor and nice counters and very clean. A patio area on the 2nd floor was nice so you can have a smoke. We will be back when in San Diego. There is a bar with music across the street as well as a little liquor store. Point Loma Sea Food is within walking distance. We didn’t have much expectations but this place gave us small home away from home. They didn’t monitor us closely as if we are some riff raffs. Very private. Can’t give them 5 stars because they aren’t the ritz Carlton.

Perfect little hideaway for my husband and I on our honeymoon! Room was clean and kept tidy by maid service. The location is perfect; we were able to do quite a bit of exploring around San Diego without driving too far. Fun area to explore around the inn as well. When we come back to San Diego, we’ll definitely stay here again.

The staff here was super friendly. Cleaned our room everyday and put fresh towels in our room everyday as well. The prices were very reasonable. Close to a lovely trail right on the water. 15 minutes away from the zoo and pacific beach. Had no trouble finding a parking space. Lots of places nearby within walking distance. Bed was comfortable and clean. Really enjoyed having the microwave and fridge in the room. The only downside was that we couldn’t find the phone in the room to dial downstairs. We looked all over and couldn’t find it. But that’s all the negative I have to say! Check in and check out was quick and easy.

Cheapest place you can find. Front desk receptionist, NOT. She dressed in pajamas while she came out front her home, aka behind the counter. She was so rude, and mumbled every word she said. She refused to make eye contact while frowning the entire time we tried to check in. HORRIBLE service, was not worth staying there, even if it’s the cheapest price around. We left immediately, not putting our money somewhere so poorly ran.

Terrible motel. On a weekday the rate came out to like 84 dollars. Price was fair. But not worth it at all. If the room was like 50 bucks, I wouldn’t be complaining. Sure they are remodeling, I didn’t get a remodeled room. Instead I got a room that smelled of funk and was dirty. It even came with drawings on the wall. There are way better motels down the street in the same price bracket. The only thing nice about this motel is the location. It’s a very nice area. I couldn’t stand the room so I went for a walk and explored the surroundings. Very nice area. The motel on the other hand, I won’t be back here.
P. S. They’re lobby picture is really a like 4×4′ area in front of their glass covered front desk, by I mean like a drive thru window. Pictures online were well taken to bring out the beauty.

Seriously, save yourself.
Unless you enjoy the eerie feeling, dirty carpet, hard-​as-​a-​rock bed, holes in the sheets, scent of urine and COCKROACHES, steer clear.
Let me just say that I am in NO WAY a hotel/​motel/​inn snob. I am all about saving money and willing to stay ANYWHERE so long as there’s a place to sleep. But this just takes the cake. Literally walked in and right back out and booked another room at another place nearby.

This is definitely not the place for high maintenance people.
However, this is the place if you are looking for a relatively cheap, safe, convenient, and comfortable spot.
Although I did not use the paid extra twin bed I asked for, the owner Dan upgraded me to a suite the next day for no extra cost.
The owners are very friendly, hospitable, and are willing to cater your needs, which is essential to great customer service in a hotel business.
I would come here again if I was in the area. Thank you Dan!

Stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend and expected the worst.
It was a busy weekend so it was either stay here or double the price for something a little better.
Check in was smooth no complaints.
I got the last room they had left which was a queen smoking.
I asked if it was bad… and they gave me a long yeeaahhh…
Went to my room and the smoke wasnt that bad at all.
Bareable, unless your a stickler that has to have everything a certain way.
The sheets actually had a stain on them aswell as the 2 of the pillows.
But i had brought my own just in case.
The room itself is very out of date. but if your on a budget it shouldnt matter.
