History

Established in 2007.

Camp Run-​A-​Mutt is a successful franchised business that started in San Diego in 2007. Since then, eight new Camp Run-A-Mutt’s have opened in SoCal and we are now expanding nationally!

Camp Run-​A-​Mutt, Sorrento Valley opened in Spring 2015 and is now serving the Northern County San Diego community including Carmel Valley, La Jolla, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Oceanside, and more!

Karen and Alisha P.

Business Owner

Cousins, Alisha and Karen Posner, took their love of dogs and their love for their families and left their corporate jobs to open a cage-​free environment for their pups and pups in their community Spring of 2015.

Alisha, with a background in finance and real estate and Karen with a background in sales and marketing joined the Camp-​Run-​A-​Mutt franchise with a goal to create an environment where people could bring their well-​socialized dogs to a place where they would be treated as if they were family. The dogs get to play in waterfalls, splash ponds, tunnels, and ramps during the day and get snuggles with a human at night. The cousins created a place where hugs and kisses are never an extra charge and they can be the unique pups they are.

Jax used to go to the CRAM in Kearny Mesa, but now goes to Sorrento Valley. He is loving it and so are we. The staff is super friendly (and Jax reunited with his awesome staff-​friends that used to be at Kearny Mesa) and the yard is a fun space for Jax to run around all day.
We love the window that lets us peek into the yard. It is fun to watch the pups play while not distracting them. Have not yet met the groomer but probably will soon when Jax needs his nails trimmed again. The hours are a little shorter than Kearny Mesa but we are flexible to the schedule especially because Jax comes home sooooooooo tired from his day and goes right to sleep. Its proximity to the 5 freeway is helpful for my updated commute to/​from work to drop off and pick up Jax too.
We haven’t boarded Jax there yet but have a reservation to do so soon and they require a deposit when making a reservation. I’m sure Jax is pumped for his sleepover there: P

Very happy with the services provided here. My pup looks forward to daycare and always comes home tired! The staff is friendly and helpful, they don’t charge extra to feed throughout the day, they have a great ratio of humans to pups in the yard at all times, and the ‘mutt cams’ are a great way to check in on your dog. Pricey if you take your dog regularly, but worth it for the pups who are high energy and need to play while you’re at work.

My dog loves it there. Everyone treats him like family. There are usually more than 30 dogs there. So it’s very active. All the dogs there have been screened to make sure they’re not aggressive. My dog plays pretty constantly while he’s there. I highly recommend this for both day care and boarding. I really like that its cage free.

Thank you Camp Staffers at Run-​a-​Mutt! Casimir is a rescue dog who’s working on some behavioral issues; he’s super protective and doesn’t play with other dogs (in dog parks). He loves his daycare and overnight camp dates (he misses mama but the staffers take great care of him). They have an awesome outdoor area — there’s a splash pool, little houses and yard room for everyone to hang out together. The mama in me likes they wash their astroturf every day with enzyme based cleaner so it doesn’t smell like bleach. The staffers are always super accommodating (need meds? need nap times? need snack time? They do it all without add-​on fees) and are experienced with all kinds of dogs. My favorite part? After a weekend stay, they noted on Casimir’s report card that he made TWO doggie friends! So thrilled with them.

The team at Camp Run a Mutt Sorrento Valley is incredible. Stevie has never been so happy. I watch the muttcam regularly and see her getting lots of love and every time she comes home from came, she is exhausted and happy. I’m so thankful to have a place to drop her off where I feel completely confident that my pup is being well taken care of.

Camp-​run-​a-​mutt Sorrento Valley is absolutely amazing! My husky puppy Skye has become so much better socializing with other dogs! The staff there are the most friendly and kind hearted people! They treat every dog like it’s their own. Why keep your dog home alone when it could be playing with other dogs in a supervised environment? When my puppy Skye gets home from daycare, she sleeps the rest of the day! I highly, highly recommend Camp-​run-​a-​mutt to anyone that is busy and has a dog that stays at home all day.

My 8 month old aussie shepherd mix puppy, Benson, had his first day of daycare at the SV camp run a mutt this week. As a first time dog owner, I was a bit nervous trusting complete strangers with my dog for an entire day. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the staff’s competency and courteous behavior. My dog has always been pretty timid around other dogs, especially bigger dogs (Benson is about 35 lbs). The staff appropriately moved Benson into the smaller yard once the large yard became populated with many dogs. I was very happy with my experience and I was completely comfortable signing Benson up for more days of daycare! I encourage utilizing this place as much as possible as it is great for the dog to be socialized and spend the day out in the sun with some pals, both canine and human. Additionally, the live webcams are pretty awesome.

Whenever we drop off @junomutt at Camp Run-​A-​Mutt, we can just tell that she loves it there by her excitement and constant tail-​wagging. It’s an extra plus that this location is conveniently located near our home (except on rainy days when Sorrento Valley floods. Yikes!).
We love that we can watch our puppy play with her fur friends on the «Muttcam» online. The Camp has two outdoor yards where the dogs can run and fetch, swim and splash, and rest and play all day long. There are plenty of shaded areas and water for the extra hot Socal days, and an indoor area for those rare rainy, stormy days. Whatever Mother Nature has in store, rest assured, your pup will be taken care of! One time she hurt her leg (from playing too hard?) and was limping. The staff noticed this and called us to let us know that she was resting inside. They made sure she wasn’t badly hurt and was comfortable until we were able to pick her up. So happy that they care for her like one of their own!
My only concern is their hours from 7am-​7pm during the week. It’d be nice if they had longer business hours because some days, us hoomans have to work earlier or later than usual. But this hasn’t been a big problem.
Every time we leave Camp Run-​A-​Mutt, Juno is still full of energy when she sees us, but immediately knocks out of exhaustion in the car (and we only have a short drive home). That’s when we know she’s had a PAWSOME day at Camp :-P

When this location opened we were excited — especially Clark the Pug :)
Previously we had been taking our pug puppy to the Kearny Mesa Camp but we reside in UTC. We knew of the care and focus Camp Staff provides its campers so we had no doubt in bringing Clark to Sorrento Valley and welcoming the convenience of its close proximity to our home. We couldn’t be any happier with the outcome. The staff at Sorrento Valley are top-​notch and really do care for your pets. After using their services many times it comes as no surprise that when we arrive Clark is practically dragging us to get in to play with his buddies. Highly recommended!

We brought our young dog to Camp Run-​A-​Mutt in Sorrento Valley while our house was undergoing remodeling. We really appreciated their patience and willingness to work with our relatively stubborn dog. He was tired out everyday, got some good socialization time while in day care, and I think his time in day care probably improved his behavior and confidence around other dogs. Camp Run-​A-​Mutt in Sorrento Valley is our first choice for day care in San Diego.

If you have a quieter dog with not as much energy, this is the place for it.
I brought my 70 pound pup here for a month or so, and he LOVED It, but unfortunately couldn’t stay too long. Because of their location (outdoors in a business park), my dog wasn’t as welcome due to his barking nature. I admit, he has a loud bark … but unfortunate they don’t allow barkers because of their nearby tenants.
My dog LOVES to play, and has been going to dog day camp since I got him over a year ago, but this location wasn’t for him.

Absolutely love this place and so does my puppy Milo. Everyone here is beyond kind and reassuring that they know that our pups are just not dogs to us they are family. They have staff with the dogs at all times in the yard and there is a waiting room where you can you watch your pup play. The report cards sent home at pick up won me over! I definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Camp Run-​A-​Mutt is nothing short of amazing. Their staff is friendly, attentive, and show a true compassion for the dogs. We’ve taken our year old coonhound mix, Abbie, 3 times so far, and the staff already knows her name. We’re always greeted with smiles and enthusiasm. The grounds are kept clean, and we love that we can check out their mutt cam while we’re at work. Huge plus!
Our pup literally loses her mind when we ask her if she wants to go to camp. She comes home tired after a day full of fun, and with meals fed. They’ll feed whatever portion you give, at whatever time you want. It’s such a stress reliever knowing that we can go about our work day without worrying about her being locked in a crate. Did I mention it’s crate free? All the time?! Even if you board your dog at night. No crates. Unless specifically asked for. We are so glad that we found Camp Run-​A-​Mutt. Thank you!

I am just thrilled with my little Gidget’s first Doggie daycare experience. We just rescued her this past weekend and I was a little on the protective crazy mommy phase this morning. Their team did an amazing job making sure she would do well with the other pups. The play yard is clean, you could tell the dogs were having fun and loved by the staff. The webcam was a huge bonus! I stalked my pooch throughout my day. It was so great, I bought their 10 pack, because their services are the same price as having someone come in and walk her for 30 min.
I am so happy, so is our new family member! Thank you guys and your team!

I’ve been taking my 3 year old Cockapoo, Harper, to Camp Run-​A-​Mutt in Sorrento Valley for almost 3 months now. He goes twice a week and every time has been fabulous. When I first brought Harper in they were very accommodating with my early schedule to make sure he could still get a behavior test in to make sure he got along with the other doggies, I appreciated they take the extra 15 – 20 minutes to make sure all the dogs are social enough to handle this kind of environment.
The girls that run this place are SO professional and SO friendly and Harper always lights up when he sees them an cannot wait to go play with his friends. I love that I can watch him on the mutt-​cam throughout the day. All the staff has been great and you can tell they really love what they do– and I also appreciate how mindful they are of the doggies health when it is extra hot out.
I am so glad that Harper and I found Camp Run-​A-​Mutt.

Wow this place is awesome. It’s like doggie heaven.
The actual daycare is well kept and the webcams are a huge plus. (Helps us feel better that our dogs are being cared for)
The staff is wonderful, attentive and caring. It is so convenient being so close to the train station. When we came to pick our little shaggy he was in great spirits and tired he fell right asleep. Will definently come back soon, given the great service, rates, and friendly caring staff. Thank you for everything.
