If you have no idea what you are looking for, all you know if you want a cigar, this is the place for you! The gentlemen that work there are very knowledgeable. They are multi generation owned so you know they know their business. My husband is looking forward to the 3 cigars he got for his birthday. We will definitely frequent this spot.

Great selection and very friendly staff — I am heading over there now to light up. It is a beautiful day and the view is great. When I walked in the 2 owners remember me from last year which is amazing considering how many people come threw here.

Ease up, on the persuasion in the humidor, Its obvious you want to push the higher priced cigars, but I want to be left alone when I’m shopping for a smoke! I don’t like the pressure. This is a turn off to someone who knows what they like and you won’t leave them alone to get what they want because you are obviously pressuring people to buy the most expensive cigars. I’m a local not some tourist.

A great place to smoke a cigar and chill out with a great view. The staff is very knowledgable with all your tobacco needs. The regulars smoking outside on the chairs are great bunch. Friendly and entertaining.

A nice place to smoke & enjoy the weather. The Only drawback was that didn’t have any Lanceros.

This is not the sort of place you would expect to find in a tourist area. Unpretentious, reasonably priced and friendly. The humidor is well-stocked. Comfortable outdoor seating. Part of the pleasure is smoking a cigar while seated there and receiving the disapproving stares of the more prissy among those passing by. A little girl wrinkled her nose at me… priceless. Say hello to Harry, the owner, who presides over the place. He is a Rhode Island transplant(Central Falls)

It’s a touristy area so you really can’t expect much, but I’ve got nothing bad to say about CH — heck, I even bought a DuPont here ’cause it had a nice ping. Decent folk. A surprisingly large selection of cigars considering the shop’s size. Plenty of extra stuff, but no bar. Smoke outside on their patio and watch the boats pass by. You’ll also get the opportunity to watch all the tourists make faces at you for smoking. Prices are average — same goes for the convo, but I’ve heard they have quite a cigar gathering at their once a month dinners somewhere nearby. Give ‘em a try.

Despite the name, this place has nothing to do with anything Pirate. Captain Hunt Tobacco is a seaport village staple for the cigar and pipe community. Most cigar only aficionado’s tend to prefer the more lavish, more spacious, more new age places to hang out at, but most of those places don’t know squat about tobacco or pipes. They buy cigars and they taste good, they keep them properly maintained with an aire of mystery and elitism. Pipe’s and it’s smokers are generally more educated about Tobacco than just about every other type of non cigarette smoker. We care about blends, curing, aging, not bands, labels, boxes, leaves. Captain Hunt is a true and true tobacco shop, so don’t waltz in here looking for swisher sweets or blunt wrappers. They have a decent selection of cigars and a good selection of tobacco, tinned and bulk. For such a small store they are well stocked on many major pipe houses. Most locals sit out front, shoot the breeze literally and enjoy our beautiful weather. Parking can be tricky as with good weather parking goes bad in these parts. Owners are great, they often join our San Diego Pipe Club meetings.

Please attention: All Cigar fans must read. If ur not one Go ahead and move on ur next search. Alright, this is truly my favorite place to come and get me a fresh cigar. Guys am not talking bout those useless and pointless cigar shops you see in san diego… NO no this is real stuff. You walk-in and the smell just pulls you to the cigar you«love» its and will be FRESH unlike all those other shops that sell you expired onces w/o shame. Once you select your beautiful cigar the lady at the casher will offer if you like it to be cut? the answer i hope would be «yes» because you want to enjoy the view outside where you relax and enjoy the cigar. They have a beautiful seating right outside the shop and the view is the beautiful San Diego Bay at the seaport village area. Okay, yes its a bit high on cost but seriously its a CIGAR you want it fresh and well taken care of before buying. Temp. taste and selection would be no problem at this place. Stop there and have yourself a smoke! life is too short not to smoke a Cigar at less once! my recommendations are«Davidoff» best in the house and all their series are amazing so don’t be afraid to make a selection.

Excellent selection of cigars! I was able to quickly and easily find a number of my fave cigars — including an Arturo Fuente 858 in the Maduro wrapper. Prices are a tad higher than some of the cigar shops I frequent back east — but not by a lot. You can sit out front of the shop and smoke your cigar. They’ll cut your cigar at the counter if you don’t have a cutter or punch with you. They’ll provide matches too if you ask.

I love this place! It’s got it all… great cigars, breathtaking views and helpful staff. I have a stressful job and this is the one place that I can truly relax. Everytime I go to Captain Hunt’s they make me feel like family… and in this ever changing world that’s priceless. The selection of cigars is great, and you can be sure that great conversation will come with every purchase! Wednesday nights is cigar and pipe club night. It kicks off at about 4:30 until closing. Come down and see what I’m talking about… it’s «as good as it gets!».

If you want someone to tell you all kinds of BS about their dried out crap or fake cubans, by all means don’t go here. If you know what you want, and want to buy it from a place that has a large selection and proper storage, go here. There’s nothing fancy about this place and their prices are too high, but I’ll take that over some dried out stick any day.

I go to this place to buy Djarum Black clove cigarettes. I only come here because so far, I’ve been too lazy to find another place that sells these cigarettes, and the rest of Seaport Village is fun to explore. The people who work there never seem to be that happy. They don’t speak to me at all except to tell me my total(I feel like I’m being ripped off; the price seems a bit steep for clove cigarettes. I don’t know because I don’t smoke. I just carry a pack on me at all times to pass out to homeless people and other people who bum cigarettes). High prices and unfriendly service… I really should find another place to buy these dumb cigs. If you can recommend a place, let me know!

My friend got married near a fountain which was next to Captain Hunt’s. Not only did they turn their radio on during the ceremony, but they turned it up. And they were talking loudly. I actually went in to look at cigars before the ceremony and they were all grossly overpriced but I would have bought one after the wedding if they weren’t such jerks.
