We are a family owned and operated business since 1981. We specialize in window coverings, valances, shades, upholstery, slipcovers, bedding, and pillows.

History

Established in 1981.

Carolina was born in Durango, Mexico and at the young age of 17 migrated to San Diego, California where she started working as a seamstress at a drapery manufacturing workroom. At the age of 22 she was hired as a supervisor at Mark VII and two years later in 1981, she established her own company.

Since then the business has been growing with her hard work and dedication to provide the highest quality workmanship.

Manager

Karina Young is the manager at Carolina Custom Window Treatments. She is the daughter of owner Carolina Contreras. Having grown up in the business she took an interest in sewing and design at a very young age. At the age of 18 she attended FIDM and studied Fashion Design, textiles, and pattern making. Mrs. Young very quickly discovered her passion for home interiors as well and has been with Carolina Custom Window Treatments ever since. She enjoys helping designers and home owners with the design and construction of window coverings, furniture, and bedding.

I’ve been looking for a new place for custom draperies for some time since Cutting Corners went out of business, and I feel like I hit the Mother Lode when I found Carolina. She helped me pick the perfect fabric for my new bedroom draperies and altered my bedspread to fit better. Then she made two throw cushions from a pair of my pillowcases that match the border print on the bedroom wall. She even went a step further and made custom piping for them from the borders, which is no easy trick. Her son accompanied her to hang them and I couldn’t be happier with her work. She definitely went the extra mile to make sure I was satisfied. I recommend her company highly. I will certainly be returning in the future for new projects.

Carolina did a really great job for us!!! I found her thru a referral from the fabric store and have been 100% satisfied. She was able to listen to my ideas and draw out what I had in mind for valences in our remodel. Each room is perfect. We have a beach house and everyone who comes here asks me if I had a decorator. I know she does work for decorators and the quality is top notch. I am not a decorator by trade but love to put a house together. She guided me on how much fabric to buy and made it all look so great. She also reupholstered 3 chairs for me and made a cushion set for our window seat. She is very nice and very helpful.

I highly recommend Carolina and her fine team of craftsmen/​women for your upholstery needs. Over the years, Carolina and her team have reupholstered window boxes for me. Of late, they reupholstered office chairs and a recliner. Excellent work products at a very reasonable price. Best yet, Carolina and her sister, Elvita, are dreams to work with.

Very nice people and did a great job. I needed foam inserts for uniquely shaped windows on a houseboat that we rent out as well as curtains made. The workmanship is perfect. I bought the inserts and fabric and they put it all together for us. We’re having them replace all our curtains on the vacation rental yacht as well.

They are very talented, artistic, and professional I was having a baby shower and they had only two weeks to make these beautiful elegant draperies for me. They installed the drapes two days before the shower. I couldn’t have been happier! They are now my go to people for anything else I need done. I recommend them to anyone who wants professional quality work done!

I will admit, I measured incorrectly and ordered custom Roman Shades from Room & Board which are very costly. Being that two out of the three sets of blinds were exactly 1″ too wide I needed them cut down to the correct size and re-​stitched. We tried the manufacturer and they wouldn’t do it. I must have called and showed up to 10 different window treatment companies and they all said they couldn’t make the alterations, BUT when I was referred to Carolina’s with my last hopes on the line, she knew what I was talking about before I took the time to go to the workshop.
Needless to say, Carolina’s team not only made our new blinds correct, they did it in 2 days at a fair price before our first housewarming party, and we couldn’t have been happier! They also do upholstery and covers in which I am going to take my C&B couch cover to be replicated.
I highly recommend Carolina Custom Window Treatments for their services and timeliness. They do fantastic work!

If you have any kind of custom sewing needs, such as slipcovers or window treatments, you should go here. I went to several places for having some slipcovers for a settee done before being referred here. The prices are competitive, but the workmanship is flawless. Carolina also graciously used the fabric I had already purchased (two other places I went to required that fabric be purchased from their own selection), The construction of the finished product was both beautiful and perfect, including the hidden zippers. Highest quality work. If I could give 10 stars, I would.

Inspired by a reddit post, I went to Carolina’s a few weeks ago for a special project. My mother past away after a long fight with Pancreatic cancer in October and I wanted to have the same kind of project done with my mothers sweaters so my family could remember her and know that she was always with them.
So I went to Carolina’s with the proposal and she owned it and then some, I brought in 5 of my mom’s sweaters and asked if she could convert them into pillows that I would give to my sisters and nieces. I expected to just get back pillows but each one ended up having a unique personality to them, from flaps that could cover each side of a pillow, to zippers being used for storage, to having the ability to add trinkets and customize them. Here’s the end result, if I ever need anything done again that is within Carolina’s wheelhouse I would go back to her in a heartbeat.
Thanks again, my sisters loved these and it brought my nieces to tears.

I asked Carolina to transform old French lace curtains into window treatments for my home. I expected her to balk at the request. Although she indicated my request was not ordinary, she embraced the idea. In fact she took the idea and «ran with it». The result was spectacular.
