I had their samurai wrap at my son’s elementary school Halloween event. It was delicious and my wife and I decide to also try their signature chop suey. Amazingly good. Everyone we talked to there loved it.

Never seen this truck stop by near our work before so we figured to give it a try. The menu at the time had an interesting variety of items. I opted for the Samurai Wrap which had the shredded pork! The wrap comes with the meat that they have, lo mein, cabbage, carrots, pineapple and greens. I really liked the lo mein, very unique. Overall, it was an okay tasting wrap though. Nothing really stood out as crave worthy for the price. I’m definitely down to try some of their other items though! I’m just not sure when they would return to our workplace again…

This place does not have the reviews it deserves! Most of the complaints seem to be about the service, which I had no problem with, but the food is delicious! The sooey could use a little spice kick, but I appreciated being able to add my own spice to it. Yummy!

Chef Deborah Scott has another winner! My company gets food trucks once a week and this week, Chop Sooey stopped by. I must say that I was impressed that they could cook that kind of food in a food truck. It looked and tasted like a work of art! I opted for the Chop Sooey($ 9) with skirt steak(it was an additional $ 4 but teriyaki chicken is also available for an additional fee). They have decent sized portions and you definitely won’t go hungry. The wait time was very minimal. The only issue is that it was a little pricey. It didn’t bother me that much and it didn’t seem to bother any of my co-workers who stood in line waiting to place their order. Definitely recommended. Look forward to trying the fries next time!

The reason im giving this a low review is simply the service… food looks ok. They were on base in Miramar and we decided to go and check it out when we got there we asked whats the most popular dish they have and the lady looks at us like were dumb and says well our truck name issssss? And we asked what meat its good with and she caught a attitude and we left…

I’m surprised this doesn’t have at least a solid 4 star rating. Ordered the breakfast croissant sandwich with ham, bacon, egg, tomato and a yummy aioli. So good! Also had a bite of the grilled cheese breakfast sandwich with chicken & apple sausage. Super good but took longer to make(grilling obvi). They had ketchup, sriacha, and other condiments next to plastic silverware and napkins. Typical food truck, but very tasty food!

Decent food truck. They don’t have an actual location from what they told me. I see them every week on Saturday at the Little Italy farmer’s market. Great food for breakfast/brunch and decent price.

I don’t understand why this truck isn’t at 5 stars. Everytime they come around I order the steak Chop Suey which I think is their signature. The steak is always spot on cooked. I do know that this is a Deb Scott owned truck and I do look forward to trying Vintage in Esco one so these days. :)

The food truck took over 45 minutes to make one order of chop sooey. Wouldn’t do it again. Very disappointed, but food delicious

I have always wanted to try food trucks in San Diego but never got a chance to do so. We had a food truck event with about 7 food trucks around the San Diego come and showcase their food. I chose Chop Soo-ey because I like it’s Asian fusion type of food. I ordered their most famous Chop soo-ey stir fried noodles! The portion was very good for $ 8 that came in a medium Chinese to-go box. The noodles were well cooked with slight firmness in the middle. The flavor was mostly Asian with a little of Japanese style including the red cabbage, marinated ginger, and sesame seeds. Overall it was a fairly decent dish except that the flavor wan’t evenly cooked and some part of the noodle was completely plain without seasoning. I understand the event was quite busy but I just felt the dish was well designed but poorly executed. I also recommend to ass Sriracha to the noodle. It tastes excellent with some spicy on it.

Very surprised that I actually found the food in this truck to taste so good. I had the Red curry with a side salad. Both were of good quality and rich with genuine flavors. After a questionable experience at Chef Deborah Scott’s *ehem* Vintana… I found that the food at this truck was more refreshing and innovative than her car dealership restaurant. — Owned by a large San Diego food corporation, not a mom and pop. — They catered our large company event, but only had two people working, Long long wait.

Very hefty portion of the Chop Sooey. I just had my first experience with this Cohn Restaurant Food Truck. Saturday, August 3rd, was the 3rd annual Gourmet Food Truck Festival at the Del Mar Races and Chop Soo-ey was on my list of trucks to try. Our order was taken quickly and the food was out in less than 10 minutes. We ordered the Chop Soo-ey with Shrimp. It was filling and a tad spicy. I don’t know why everyone is complaining about the heat in that dish. There is a Chili next to the name on the menu, anyone who has looked at a menu knows that Chili = spicy. We also got the Banh Mi steak sandwich. I actually really dislike Banh Mi, never down with the pickled veggies or meat, but the one Chop Soo-ey offers was surprisingly delish! It did have some heat, but again on the menu board it says chose from blackened shrimp, grilled chicken or FIERY skirt steak. Learn to read before you eat, people. An order of the vietnamese dumpling was pretty basic, but still tasty; as were the rice paper wrapped Prawns. A nice surprise was the Kobayashi Waffle Fries. Very soft and yummy, but had a little crunch with the blackened bacon bits. Very Tasty indeed. Give Chop Soo-ey a try, or I will Karate Chop You!

Today was the first time I tasted Chop Sooey after a full year hearing friends rave about the delicious food. They were absolutley right! Their waffle fries tasted like a sophisticated version of carne asada fries minus the carne asada, lol. The shrimp chop sooey was delish and the flavors danced on my tongue with perfection. Potsickers were light & flavorful. Overall a delicious medley of food. If you see their truck stop what you are doing & order everything on the menu, it willbe worth it!

I tried this food truck at Comic Con yesterday and its prices from looking at the menu attracted me because it was cheaper compared to the other trucks. My brother ordered the pulled bbq pork sandwich. It came with a side of yam fries. I ordered the lobster bisque sandwich and it also came with a side of yam fries. The bbq pork sandwich was good. The meat was tender and the sauce was okay. The lobster filling was not good and I honestly could not finish the sandwich because I couldn’t take the taste anymore. It was cold and bland. As for their fries, they were cold when served and they tasted just like any other yam fries you’ve ever tasted. The customer service was good. The guy who took my order was really friendly. The order was made pretty quickly considering how busy the area was that day. However, I don’t think I will be buying from this food truck again. Not worth my money.

I heard about Chop Sooey’s plans to hit the San Diego streets a few months ago and anxiously awaited its arrival, but after trying it out over the weekend at the SoNo Holiday Fest, I have to say I’m really pretty disappointed. They were only offering their El Pignini & hot dogs, so the selection was super slim, but we ordered both. The pignini was bursting with pork and ham and looked delicious, but in reality it was pretty dry and not that flavorful. Also, looking at Ian F’s review, I’m a little irked because I’m pretty sure mine was $ 5 and it was only a day later that I was at the truck. I didn’t try the hot dog, but the boy said it was just so-so. Basically if you’re only going to have a few offerings, they need to be really really good, and I just wasn’t getting that from here. I might give it another shot once they get a little more experience out and about, but in the meantime, I’ll continue chasing some other trucks around San Diego.

People like to make fun of trendy things, and as targets go, this is an easy one. Chop Soo-ey isn’t exactly on the front end of the food truck movement, and given that it’s part of the Cohn restaurant empire, you get the feeling it’s just a side project for one of San Diego’s biggest name chefs, Deborah Scott. And they won’t satisfy the dollar fish taco lovers either. But my first experience with the truck at a local festival was definitely a positive. Fair prices, fun food items, and a quick-moving line. El Pignini, their signature sandwich, came with both roasted pork and ham. The«curly tail fries» came covered in fried onions and bits of «cubed pork». Nothing blew me away, but everything was good. One minor criticism. There is a reason why the taco is ubiquitous on these truck menus, and I’m not referring only to our proximity to the border. If you’re standing in the street, it’s real easy to cradle a taco, a lot harder to navigate barbecue«pork wings». Sure, you can get napkins, but after eating the barbecue pork, I needed a shower. Or at least a half dozen wet naps. Never a problem at the usual trucks.
