I began my photography journey as a self-​taught hobbyist and started photographing others seriously as a profession when the universe pushed me into it. I received a call that I was let go from a corporate financial position of nearly 15 years while I was in the middle of a nursing session with my (then) 5 week old. It was very frightening but exciting time and something I would have never had the guts to do on my own. Never ever. After years of mistakes, monetary investments, and time spent holed up in my office studying and planning, my business and my camera finally know who’s boss. I started out thinking weddings would be my calling because I loved the candid nature of them but soon found that incredible, real moments are also found in our every day and quickly became fascinated with capturing that magic for families.

Teaching has also been very rewarding. I mentor hobbyist parents and new professionals through my in person and online workshops, quarterly.

People are always asking about my name so I’ll start there. Cienfuegos (See-​EN-​fuegos) is my married name (a far cry from the simplicity of Chrystal Walker — ha!). I love it because it translates to «100 fires/​flames» which I happen to think is pretty fun! I guess it’s just one of the many cool things I should thank my husband for. Speaking of my husband, like I mentioned above, I’m a married mama of 3 littles — 2 awesome «big» girls ages 5 & 3, and the cutest little boy ever who is just turning one. So I’m probably a lot like you — surviving the meltdowns, loving the kisses, and wondering where the time goes.

Crystal came highly recommended to me when I was searching for a maternity and newborn photographer. After two wonderful sessions and countless cherished photographs, I highly recommend her too!
Crystal has the technical chops AND the ability to capture the sentiment of the moment. The result — emotive, honest and breath-​taking images of the most important life milestones. Her tender approach ensures that first time moms (even on the modest side) will feel more than comfortable showing off those new maternity curves and belly, and that baby will have a safe, loving, and gentle experience through the photo session. In short, Chrystal is an incredible photographer and overall fabulous lady. I could wallpaper my home with her pics.

Chrystal is one of the best most talented, and creative photographer you can find. She has a way of capturing the moment, and that’s what she did at my daughter’s birthday party. She even caught my husband playing guitar and there is one photo that could be on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine!

I think it’s easy living in the San Diego area to become so spoiled that nothing delights you beyond expectation. However, each and every picture taken from our newborn photography session with Chrystal was absolutely wonderful!

We first used Chrystal for our wedding photography and she was phenomenal, so obviously she was our first choice for maternity and newborn photos when I found out I was expecting twins. She did such a great job that we’ve chosen her as our permanent family photographer. I’ve had sessions with other photographers and while they were good, Chrystal’s pictures are pure magic.
Our twins were 2 years old when their baby sister was born, so you can imagine the nightmare involved in getting good shots of everyone. TWIN toddlers?! Enter Chrystal — no problem, she says. In one short newborn session she captured our gorgeous little girl and my beautiful boys. Not only did she get those perfect posed newborn pictures, but she got some lifestyle shots that we will treasure forever. I plan to have her photograph my family every year.
When it comes to photography, you really get what you pay for. If I was a millionaire, I would hire Chrystal to follow me around with a camera. As it is, I save money on other things so that we can afford to have our family memories captured. I love pictures and as a child always loved to spend time going through our old albums — I hope some day my children will grow up and do the same.
Some people think that it’s more important to capture the «real» moments than to have professional photos — the wonderful thing about Chrystal is that she does both. She has an eye for personality and can really get that on camera. It takes an astonishing level of skill to capture the different personalities of identical twins, yet somehow she manages to, each time.
To sum up, you will never be anything but satisfied with her work. Her photography truly demonstrates her patience, care, and thoughtfulness. As a mother herself, she knows the value of letting your family’s beauty and individuality shine and she does it spectacularly. I can’t wait to work with her again.

I can’t say enough amazing things about Chrystal Cienfuegos. Her skill is on another level and her love and passion for her craft shine through in everything she does. We hired her to photograph our newborn and she far exceeded any expectations I might have had. She was so gentle and loving with our new little one and patiently took her time with him to get the best shots possible. Her work is simply exquisite and I now (even months later) constantly look through her images and smile at the (many!) I have framed throughout my home. She captured amazing moments with our little and we were blown away when we first saw the photos. I couldn’t have asked for a better photographer or more beautiful photos. We hired Chrystal to take holiday photos of our 1 year old daughter for our annual Christmas card. I went in to it thinking we’d be super happy to even get one card-​worthy photo, but ended up with so many beautiful pictures! Chrystal was amazingly patient and good at keeping our girls attention. I could never have chosen just one favorite, so we ordered the cards through her and got to use a few different images. Love love love the way it turned out. We hired Chrystal to do our newborn photos and could not have been happier with the results! Our baby girl was 4 days old when she came to our home for the photo shoot. She was a little fussy in the beginning so Chrystal did some shots of us holding her and just kind of hanging out. I was feeling anxious because I felt like we were wasting her time but she kept saying it was okay. Once the baby fell asleep she really got to work. She would put her into a position ever so slowly and take her time to get the perfect shot. I’ve never witnessed such extreme patience. I was in awe! This went on for a really long time while she got one amazing photo after another. Oh and I forgot to mention she was pregnant! I cried when I saw the photos, they were absolutely incredible! You can tell that Chrystal loves children, it really comes through in the images. She’s very sweet and her talent is mind blowing. You will not regret hiring her for your photo needs!

I was lucky enough to discover Chrystal Cienfuegos’ talent before she’d totally acknowledged them herself and gone pro. When she was dipping her toe in the water of professional photography I was one of her very first boudoir shoots. I liked her demeanor and her work so much that since that day I’ve hired Chrystal to do a second boudoir shoot and a family shoot.
