As a kid I would always get candy and other treats from Corey’s since my Grandmother lived on the same street. It wasn’t until I moved back to San Diego and moved nearby that I really appreciated Corey’s. They have plenty of general household items, an excellent always changing craft beer selection, great wines at a good price, and a huge selection of spirits. The employees are kind and funny and I’m always greeted warmly. With so many liquor stores on university, I would highly recommend skipping the rest and coming to Corey’s.

Friendly guy, huge selection of alcohol, including wine, snacks, & non alcoholic beverages. They got it all.

Great beer selection, friendly staff, and engaged in the community. These brothers are always friendly and polite, and I always feel safe when I’m in the store. Recently, when I lost my dog, they let me hang a poster in their door. I’m happy to say I found my dog. It’s nice to see business owners not only there to make a buck, but also proactive in the safety of all the neighborhood’s citizens!

Still the best liquor store market in city heights. They just got bigger and better with more craft beers and even bigger selection of liquor. Best prices in town and the coldest beers.

I pop by Corey’s fairly regularly to pick up liquid refreshments — about once a week or so during football season — and the beer selection is always top notch. The craft menu pays homage to local favorites like Stone, Ballast Point, Coronado Brewing, etc., while also providing plenty of options from out of town favorites like Rogue and even a pretty diverse offering of Belgians. Whatever you fancy, Corey’s probably has it. Besides beer, there’s also a large wine and liquor selection. The other day I picked up a bottle of Bulliet Rye, not exactly a standard liquor store shelf item. The store is always clean and well organized with football playing on the bigscreen above the checkout counter. I can’t pay and leave without commiserating with the big guy behind the counter over Chargers football, but he’s always so positive about our prospects that I’ve begun to enjoy my weekly pep talk ritual before, naturally, the Chargers blow it. The parking situation is never a problem. Some of the people who come into the store have been roughed up a bit by life, but if you’re in this neighborhood already that shouldn’t come as a surprise and the guys at Corey’s are excellent at maintaining a comfortable shopping experience. Because, like, beer!

It’s been a while since I wrote a review, but after my recent visit to Corey’s I need to revise my previous post. There is only one word for their wine and beer selection F*NGAMAZING! The wine, beer and liquor at this corner store is unparalleled. You can get a fine craft beer, fancy bottle of wine, and a deal on a nice bottle of liquor all in the same visit. My favorite right now is the Brazin Zin old vine zin and El Jimador. Though I have been buying smaller shots of Cazadores, Hornitos and Patron. My husband enjoys the array of local microbrews from the larger company Stone, to Lightning, Alpine, Manzanita etc. Recently Maharaja from Avery has been his choice of poison. Corey’s is our one stop shop for great beer, wine and liquor. And, when the party keeps going, we don’t have to worry about drinking and driving since Corey’s is right around the corner. Lastly, I must say the staff are so nice. They are a bunch of sweet, hilarious, Chaldeans who have an amazing work ethic despite working ridiculously long hours. Thank you Corey’s for being our consistently awesome corner store.

I’ve been a regular customer at Corey’s Market & Liquor(& Circus) for years. Everything I buy is fairly priced and in stock. The convenience and accessibility of everything since their recent renovation freely opens up the interior and improves on what was already an above average shopping experience. The entire staff is knowledgeable and accommodating… even Frank, in his own way(lol). There’s ample parking and easy access in and out from both University Ave. and 36th St. Corey’s is a safe, fair and fun place to shop. Corey’s provides a valuable service to this neighborhood, very well I’ll add, and is definitely an asset. Keep up the good work douche bags, and, Shalom.

They have a lot of good beer and it’s cheap. Good specials on Jimador tequila too. Party’s at my house.

Awesome liquor store with real cool staff inside. The guys always greet me and chat whenever I come in. Lucky for me this is the closest liquor store to my house because i have no problem avoiding places with bad product and higher prices no matter where they are in relation to where I live. Eddie works in there a lot and will set you up with all you need. And on the off chance that they don’t have it they also own a 99ct type store across the street that will have it.

I have forever been on a search for a spot in/near my hood where I can buy P-funks(also known as Parliament Menthol Lights). With the prevalence of Parliament as a brand, you’d think the menthols would be easy to find(like Marlboro menthols), but they’re not. So I was happy to stumble upon Corey’s and see P-funks behind the counter. I would’ve given Corey’s a 4th star, but my paranoid self thinks the counter guy shafted me on purpose. I asked for 2 packs and he gave me one P-funks menthol light and the other was a regular menthol(I smoke lights only, dammit!). I didn’t like that not-so-subtle side-eye he gave me when he asked me to punch in my pin # and I realized I left my wallet on the far end of the counter, and reached over to put it in my bag. It wasn’t because I thought he would steal my wallet, but force of habit… and besides WHY does someone deserve side-eye for being cautious about their personal belongings when they’re not being obnoxious about it? Shoot, I wanna take away another star, but I know I’m gonna be going back for more P-funks until I find a different/better place.

This is a great liquor store. Everyone that works there is really nice, and you always get a good mix of customers to observe when you come in, whether it is the tore-up strippers from across the street or some of the City Heights locals looking for a cold brew. These guys are awesome and will go above and beyond the call. One time, my cell phone was stolen from my car in the parking lot, they watched the security tape, recognized the guy, and when he came back in that night to buy more beer, they got it back for me. These guys are awesome! Also, it is fun to see them deny customers that try and get snippy… extra bonus when they chase them out with a baseball bat!
