We are a Multispecialty group practice offering General and Cosmetic Dentistry as well as Specialist care in Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Oral Surgery and Pediatric Dentistry. Most dental problems can be solved by our specialist team at one location, with instant collaboration between dentists. We routinely handle cases ranging from simple to very complex. We provide a vast array of procedures to our patients which enable us to explore the best treatment options based on individualized treatment plan that suits your needs. We also utilize the latest in dental technology and materials to provide our patients with Superior Dental Care. Our specialists have advanced training in 2 – 4 years in post-​graduate residency programs and all are practicing in the same location. Dr. Hornsby is a board eligible Prosthodonist originally from Vancouver, WA. He received his Bachelors of Science from the Univ. of Washington in 09. Subsequently, he received his DDS from Columbia Univ. of Dental Medicine in NY. After receiving his degree, he remained at Columbia Univ. where he completed a 3 year post-​graduate residency in Prosthodontics, and received his Masters Degree completing a thesis on dental implants prosthetics. Dr. Hornsby remained in NYC for 2 years where he worked in private practice prior to relocation to sunny SoCal and purchasing the practice. Dr. Hornsby is a carrying and compassionate dentist who is interested in providing you with highest quality of care. Having 3 additional years of training in Prosthodontics has elevated his level of knowledge and expertise in the field of dentistry. His training has given him the ability to predictably treat very complicated and challenging cases with minimal discomfort and optimal results for his patients.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to the dentist because I’ve had horrible experiences growing up but I will have to say that this place was wonderful from the phone call to entering the place and then heading out.
I needed my back, right wisdom tooth taken out because it was in a lot of pain and dealing with everyone here including Dr. Hornsby made this experience one that would make me go back over and over again. They knew I was nervous and they did everything to put me at ease.
It was quite a journey to get my wisdom tooth out (mainly because it’s roots looked like claws trying to hang on) but Dr. Hornsby extracted that thing like none other and I feel 1 billion times better!

I’ve been a customer for ten years, driving from north county because I trust the team and appreciate the services that they provide. As a medical professional I have always felt like all of the staff here has done an amazing job and felt like I have been treated with care and consideration, particularly given my fear of dental procedures! The front desk has always been prompt and courteous, and helped me out when I’ve had billing questions. I have received the gamut of treatments here, from periodontal planing to fillings, to cleaning, to now braces. Jo and Keith are awesome, and I cannot thank the practice enough for what they have done for me as a patient.

I’ve been coming here for the last four years, and am very pleased with the quality of their service.
Keith in the front office is attentive and keeps on top of the scheduling. When I had a recent schedule conflict, he cheerfully helped me reschedule.
Jo is the popular and sought after hygienist who I can’t say enough good things about. She’s meticulous and thorough, and always cheers me up. I know — unusual for a dental office.
As for pricing, they have taken care of all the insurance paperwork, and I infrequently have to pay anything out of pocket. And when I do, it’s a very reasonable co-​pay.

The crew at CDC of SD is EXCELLENT!!! Really loved the whole vibe. The office itself is professional but not sterile. The office staff made me feel welcome (and calm — I don’t really like the dentist!!). Keith was super nice and Fe, the hygienist did such a great job that when I left my gums didn’t even hurt :)
Since I was only there for a routine cleaning I didn’t spend tons of time with Dr Hornsby, BUT for the time I was with him, he never made me feel rushed, answered my questions and even gave me some free advice for a problem my husband was having.
I’ll be back in 6 months :) :) :)

Brutally painful for SOO many different reasons, everything from disrespectful front desk help to deceptive business practices, even outright lying by Doctor Hornsby.
I have always had great dental experiences my entire life before moving and becoming one of his patients.
Now one less healthy tooth, a lot of money, and even MORE time all wasted for nothing other than falling for this scam of a new veneer that isn’t worth the time I just spent writing this review.
The veneer he so ‘carefully’ crafted, by the way not only doesn’t look right, but also has such a sharp edge that it cuts my tong. Would I go back and have him ‘fix’ it? — not even for free of charge!
But hey, keep lining your pocket$ Doc!
There was one very sweet and competent dental hygienist who I wish the very best (lived in Point Loma on a boat), unfortunately I can’t stay for her obviously.

I was referred to Dr. Hornsby by a close family friend. She had told me about how wonderful Dr. Hornsby and his staff were for a very long time. I needed a great deal of dental work and had put it off for years. I had been frightened about the pain I would endure due to the extensive amount of work I needed. In addition I was concerned about the financial aspect of the process.
The first day I entered Cosmetic Dentistry Center I knew I had come to the right place! I was greeted by Keith who came from behind the desk and spoke to me for a while as I was completing paperwork. Keith really put me at ease. He was genuinely concerned for my fears, needs and expectations. He was amazing!
I was then called to the back by another wonderful staff member (the dental assistant) and sat down in a dental chair. Within a few minutes Dr. Hornsby came and introduced himself. What a pleasure! I have never met a dentist or doctor with such a wonderful bedside manner! After my exam and X-​rays Dr. Hornsby went over every detail about my dental issues and needs. He then explained to me a few treatment options that would accomodate my needs. Dr. Hornsby was very honest in what he felt was best for me! I was lead back to the front to talk to Keith about my different treatment options and the cost involved. Keith was very up front yet so sweet and sensitive. He was wonderful in making sure That I was comfortable with the plan I chose. Together we came up with a plan that accommodated all of my needs!
The entire staff at Dr. Hornsby’s office has been amazing!
I have grown to know much of the staff. Rosia and Kristina in billing, the dental assistant, Keith up front, and of course… The amazing Dr. Hornsby!
This office has not only changed my appearance but changed my life!
I am no longer ashamed to go out in public and smile.
My new smile is beautiful!

I was referred here by my husband. I attempted to go to a dentist in La Mesa since it was closer to my house but I ended up getting very impatient because they had me waiting for over 30 mins and they did not have any of my insurance information in their files so they made a huge deal out of it. See my reviews to figure out which office is ran by special needs if you’re curious!
I kind of look forward to coming here. The employees are super down to earth and always super nice. I get to watch Netflix while they work on my teeth. I get emails and texts to remind me when my next appointments are and I am seen immediately every time I come in.
Parking is weird. They share a parking garage with Bank of the West on B St. There are probably 5 available spots and it is a super tight squeeze in there. I drive a Honda Civic and I get nervous I’m going to hit the walls or side swipe the concrete pillars or other cars so be careful. If you forget where parking is, call and they are nice enough to stay on the phone with you while you find your way around downtown (thank you BTW). Also, you can save some money off a cleaning and x-​ray for checking in.
Also, Dentist Nate Dawg transformed my husband from looking like a straight hillbilly to a super model in ten hours. Not kidding. That man does magic.

They are awesome here! I’ve had bad experiences since I was a little girl and dreaded the dentist! I walked in to a nice classy looking office and was greeted by a great staff! Dr Hornsby is fantastic! Joe the hygienist is amazing and their assistant’s just make you feel at home! They even gave me a blanket & Netflix! I could have fell asleep it was that good! This place is highly recommended!

So extremely disappointed. I called to make an appointment, and was asked if my Delta Dental was PPO. I said I am not sure, and did not have the card with me when I called. The girl took my information, and said she would check it for me, and if there was any problem, she would call me. The day before my appointment, Keith called to remind me, and to ask again if my insurance is PPO. I said I think so, but I am not sure. Keith said he would check it, and if there was any problem, he would call me back. I had explained that I did not want to take time off work and lose wages for no reason. He promised that he would call if there was an issue. I received no call, so assumed that both the girl and Keith had done as they promised, called my insurance, and verified it. When I walked into the office, I started filling out paperwork. AT THAT TIME, IS WHEN KEITH CALLED, and found out there is a problem!!! Although he told me the day before he would call and let me know if there was a problem so that I would not take off work for no reason, HE NEVER DID IT!!! And, neither did the girl the week before — although SHE ALSO PROMISED!!! I really wanted the work done, and could have easily put it on any of my credit cards, but I DO NOT TRUST ANY BUSINESS THAT LIES TO ITS CUSTOMERS, OR REFUSES TO KEEP PROMISES MADE! Their complete disregard for the value of my time, and their failure to keep promises made to me, cost me time from work, lost wages, transportation costs, and parking hassle /​cost of downtown parking.
THIS BUSINESS COST ME MONEY, AND THEY DID NOTHING FOR ME!!! Avoid at all costs!!! You cannot trust a business that lies to you and does not value you or your time!

I’ve been been going to Cosmetic Dentistry Center for a few years and I don’t see how anyone could give them less than five stars.
Dr. Hornsby replaced my four top, front porcelain veneers, which were poorly done by another dentist a few years ago (not all veneers are created equal!). I also got a couple new veneers on my canines to help balance the look and make it look more natural. I went to SEVERAL dentists for a consult before deciding on someone for this costly work. Dr. Hornsby gave me a very expert opinion and showed me how my veneers were done poorly befor and how he would make them look more natural. He also didn’t try to upsell on things I didn’t need. I left feeling like he actual cared about my teeth and wanted them to look great.
I’ve also had other «regular» dental work done by him. I’ve had a couple fillings done by him and I can’t even remember what teeth he worked on because they look so natural.
The staff is also very friendly and helpful. There are TVs and movies you can watch while you’re getting work done. I like this as it makes time goes by faster.
Lastly, and maybe most important, the prices are very reasonable. In fact, he actually charged me much less than other cosmetics dentists were quoting me for my veneers. Also, they accept most major dental insurance so you’ll basically just pay your copay.
Oh, and my veneers look beautiful and very natural! They are so much better than what I had before and I know they will last me for years to come! #wortheverypenny #gohereforveneers

If you are looking for a dental care practitioner for general dentistry such as cleaning, examinations, and taking care of a few fillings, the Cosmetic Dentistry Center of San Diego (CDCSD) may be the place for you. However, if you are looking for an establishment that is upstanding in ethics, honesty, and integrity, you may want to consider finding another office to fill your dental, cosmetic, and oral hygiene needs.
I was with CDCSD for close to two years and the service that I experienced there was a touch and go performance, but seriously lacking in ethics and integrity when it comes to services that may require special dental and cosmetic needs.
Right off the bat they lied to me, applied charges to my insurance company for services they did not render, and overcharged me for services that was several hundred dollars more than what was originally quoted.
For example, I sought CDCSD for bridgework in which they quoted a standard fee based on my insurance guidelines. After I checked my statement, there was a $ 200.00 dollars overage. In spite of their promotion to provide excellent care, the bridgework failed in less than two years it was placed.
As a result of the botched bridgework and Dr. Hornsby’s refusal to address this issue, I ended my patient/​dentist relationship with CDCSD. Although they would have you believe that they ended the relationship with me. I found that this dentistry center would do anything to protect their interests more than they would to serve their customers’ interests.
Oh by the way, that signature smile and handshake that you receive from the doctor that you get every time you come through the door may be the same handshake that shows you the door if you question the manner in which they provide for your treatment, materials they use, and how they bill your insurance.
I would steer clear of this establishment if you value your health, dental care, and your pocket.

So I got hammered one Saturday night and went down a water slide at my friends place at about 3am and needless to say it was quite dark out. So after going down the slide face first I got to the bottom of the slide and didn’t realize there was a little lip on the slide that is meant to launch you up into the pool. Well all it did to me was launch my bottom jaw right into my front right tooth and took a nice sized piece out of my tooth. I looked like a freaking hillbilly.
I had to try and get it fixed as quickly as possible. After calling several places on Monday, the soonest I was able to book an appointment was a minimum of 6 business days later. I wouldn’t have cared, but I had a date over the weekend and was not going out with anyone looking like I did. I called Cosmetic Dentistry Tues and they had an appointment on Wed.
With no dental insurance, I was very concerned about the potential cost. The receptionist was very kind and helpful and explained the procedure while providing me a rough estimate of the cost. I booked the appointment and went in the next day.
Here is the bottom line:
I could not be happier with the work of Dr. Hornsby! He’s a very personable young guy who went above and beyond fixing just my chipped tooth. He did work on some of my other front teeth which greatly improved the evenness of my smile. The color match for the chip is phenomenal; you would never know I ever chipped it. Dr. Hornsby did the grinding and evening on my other teeth at no additional charge which, again, made a tremendous improvement in the aesthetics of my smile.
I will return to Dr. Hornsby at Cosmetic Dentistry for any work I may need in the future without hesitation. I am simply ecstatic at my (practically) new smile and I want to thank Dr. Hornsby for going above and beyond the promised work and making me feel very comfortable smiling again!
Only negative:
Parking is a confusing biatch. Its free, but give yourself extra time to get there if you aren’t familiar with the parking.

They are over priced and try to act like doctors. Always trying to up sell. Just because they have to pay for their video cameras and tvs. Stay away and go to a practice that actually cares about you. They hide behind trying to look all new and fancy… Medicine in general is about substance and skill. Not TV’s and movies. And no it’s not all about the insurance company — it’s about people and being upfront.

I have been coming to Cosmetic Dentistry Center of SD for about 4 years or so now, and every time i am there I LOVE it! Dr. Schreiner is so great and really takes her work seriously and is so friendly!
They have NetFlix so you can choose what you watch while they work on you, which is great so you don’t have to watch some boring show on TV. The office is nice and clean and has a great view of downtown buildings.
I have always had an awesome experience here and would recommend them to anyone!
