My favorite restaurant in mission valley. Big enough portions and the healthiest, tasty meal you can find in San Diego. The staff is always great too. Wish there were more locations in SD. I come back often.

Marie was great! She was very helpful. My husband and I had never been to CBW before. Marie noticed we were unsure of what to order. She came to us & offered to help, gave us recommendations, & explained the menu & choices.

I have eaten here a couple of times, and the food has been fine. Here’s the problem, and I consider it a big one. My husband and I were sitting eating our dinner on a Tuesday or Wednesday night a couple of weeks ago, when a man walks in with a small dog(a bichon, or something like that, I would guess) on a leash. Clearly not a service dog. The young male cashier(whom I later learned was the manager for the evening) served the dog owner who, a few minutes later, picked up food to go and left, with his tiny canine n tow. After he left, I asked to speak with the manager(and it was then when that I learned that the man at the front counter was the manager). I complained that it was against the health codes for a dog to be in the restaurant, unless that dog was a service dog. Another couple in the restaurant, also sitting down and eating their food, voice their agreement with me to the manager. The manager then informed us that he knew it was against the law for dogs to be in the restaurant, but that he he would not give up a paying customer because of the code. The woman of the other couple commented, «Well, you’ve just lost four customers!» I agreed with her and, soon after we all left. It appears that this manager was more concerned about his gross sales for the night than he was with keeping his restaurant clean and healthy. If CBW is neglecting to follow this basic sanitation/health code, it makes me wonder what other codes are being neglected in the interest of the bottom line. Needless to say, we won’t be back.

It was lunch and my first time here. I didn’t even get a «Hello» when I entered. There wasn’t a line at all, yet I stood in front of the counter with three associates avoiding my eye contact. Finally one of them told a fourth associate to help me and even then all I received was a short«What can get you?». My food choice was alright: salmon, avocado, and spinach salad; I liked the dressing.

BBoooooo. First of all the cashier is really rude. Didn’t really care about me not knowing what I want. Really inattentive and insensitive. Then she hands me my change back really sloppy. I felt really rushed and uncared for. Their dishes are horrible, I HOPE they go out of business… Luna Grill beats these guys out by far.

Healthy and yummy. I usually create my own bowl. Tip: Order the sauce on the side because it could be a bit overwhelming. Customer service is really good. They’re always nice. Their salsa bar is so yummy! Free hummus! I love hummus! Location is nice. It’s in a Mission Valley shopping center and right next door is a smoothie shop for dessert:)

Generally, the procedure here to CYOB(Create Your Own Bowl) goes like this — First, you choose the following: Bowl Size(Small or Large) Type(s) of Protein(Meats; for double meat –add extra $) Grain(Rice or Noodles) Vegetable(usually an assortment) Sauce(Teriyaki, peanut oil with stir-fry, garlic ginger sauce, etc.) I chose the High Protein bowl for my selection. It comes with the choice of 2 meats plus steamed vegetables underneath, plus your choice of sauce. No rice or noodles. The 4 meat choices are fried chicken(all white meat), grilled wild salmon, grilled grass fed steak, and grilled organic tofu. For my protein, I picked salmon and fried chicken, steamed mixed vegetables with teriyaki sauce on the side. I also asked for a side of avocado, which was also omitted, so I had to wait an extra 5 minutes while the line cooks stuffed 3 slices of fresh avocado into a tiny Solo cup. The fried chicken was the best part. I should’ve doubled it for the extra charge, because my salmon came out sans any grill marks, was kinda smelly and very dry and tough. The teriyaki sauce was not in my to-go bag :/Luckily, there were enough other ingredients to make up for the inedible salmon. I recommend that you skip the salmon. Fancy restaurant this is not. This being my first time here, I admit I had no idea what I was doing. Although the lady taking orders was very nice and cheerful, I felt as though she was trying to steer me away from having my veggies stir-fried, which, in the end, actually would’ve been better than her suggestion of steamed veggies. I was tired of the fact it seemed she was arguing with me about what I wanted and trying to confuse me, but I knew I wanted the veggies stir fried. Especially since the vegetables lack of the omitted teriyaki sauce definitely could’ve benefitted by having it. I do think in the long run it was my money, my choice. But like I said… fancy restaurant this is not. And now I know how I should’ve insisted on what I wanted to order. They did mess up by not including the teriyaki sauce. I added Sriracha sauce at home, so I took care of it, though. This place is okay for a quick, somewhat healthy meal(without fried chicken lol), but for some reason, I was still hungry after eating. I wouldn’t go out of my way for it again, though.

My companion and I came in here for dinner after running errands around town. We got really good customer service from Maria and she took her time explaining how the menu works. She directed us where the salsa bar was at the end of the transaction and offered to take as many as we needed. She was in great spirits and you could tell she loved her job and did not get aggravated once. I see room for improvement here. I will be coming back to try new things. I ordered something I thought I would like but I now know how to make it better. There are so many other things I want to try here. «Under the options» I chose Jasmine as my grain, Grilled Hormone Free Chicken Breast, with steamed veggies and Teriyaki as my sauce. I thought the steamed veggies were cut a little thick. Too much for my liking. They did skimp on the chicken though. I got like 4 or 5 pieces. We took home some Pico De Gallo and some others but I only used the Pico De Gallo. See you soon.

When I want something filling but healthy, I go here to satisfy my chicken craving. The grilled chicken pesto wrap with quinoa is my go-to here! I love everything at the salsa bar, especially the jalapeño cilantro salsa. If you get chips with you meal, they have hummus to go great with it.

The Stir Fry plate was good. The chicken was moist and there was a good amount of it. I got the regular size which was plenty. The choice of sauces/salsas/dips was perfect. They also had a nice variety of organic teas and juices. I got there right around lunch time which I won’t do again because it was pretty packed. The time it took to get my food was reasonable though, about 10 min. Overall, I love their concept, enjoyed their selection and will definitely be going again.

This place is awesome! wonderful selection of vegetarian, vegan. and also meat eater selections! The selections are very creative and enticing. I ordered some food togo for my niece this visit. It looked and smelled great. She watches her weight so, I tried to help her with that. The restaurant is clean and well kept. Parking is ok. The variety and selection is pretty darn good! The customer service was good. Prices were fair. I could come back again.

Not going to lie, I didn’t have high expectations when my bf told me he wanted to take me here. The pictures on Unilocal just don’t do it justice! But after trying their food and their amazing salsa bar, I can’t wait to come back again! Their options cater to those who want to eat healthier but don’t want to miss out on the flavor. They have salads, bowls, and wraps that can be completely vegetarian or with meat. I opted for their grilled chicken pesto wrap with brown rice. If you’re not a brown rice kind of person, they also have quinoa and Jasmine rice. But I have to say, their brown rice was soft, warm, and very inviting. It gave my wrap extra texture that kept me coming in for more bites. I was only able to finish half so I took home the other half. The only downside to my wrap was the fact that it didn’t taste as good the next day. The brown rice was hard and dry so I recommend finishing your wrap in one sitting if possible. My bf got their chicken fajita bowl, which comes with avocado and black beans with the option of tortilla chips or a warm tortilla. I got to try some of it and it was amazing! I have to mention though, the best part of the meal was their salsa bar. I absolutely loved their spicy buffalo sauce. AND unlimited hummus. YES I said it… unlimited hummus! Parking was a breeze as they have their own private lot, which tends to be an issue when you want to go somewhere with good food in SD like North Park where it’s only street parking. Not an issue here! I will definitely come back and get their chicken caesar wrap next!

Oh my goodness this place is yummy!!! It’s very fresh and light. I never leave super full but I do leave feeling like I had a good meal. I’m happy that they have a hummus area. I grab some and eat it with my chips. Sometimes I get a bowl but my favorite is their steak Cesar wrap! I’m craving one right now!

I came here with my cousin for lunch after he had told me that the place was pretty good and on the healthier side. And for it being quite busy, I figured it must have been a good place to eat. I ordered the protein bowl, and was baffled that they charge extra for the steak AND the chicken. I might have misread the menu, but I was under the assumption that the chicken would be the additional charge. Also, it’s a protein bowl and in my opinion should not constitute an additional charge for the actual protein. So my total came out to a little over $ 12 for a bowl of veggies, steak, and chicken. I ordered it with the spicy teriyaki sauce as well. Overall the food was just«ok» in my opinion. It didn’t really jump out at me as being super amazing. The crunchy chicken was pretty good, and the steak was pretty flavorful. Other than that I feel like the bowl was worth about $ 7 – 8, not $ 12. The ambiance was kinda busy and noisy, but no big deal to me as we just sat outside. This place is kinda pricy IMO, but I’m from vegas and I guess that the area this restaurant is in is kinda upscale. Therefore it probably makes sense as to why it’s priced the way it is. I probably would come back to try the wraps or something.

Their service seems to not be as good as it used to be. I’m not sure if they’ve changed owners or managers but they have made plenty of changes that, in my opinion, have degraded my impression of this place. The food is still tasty but they have made our order wrong the last 3 times we have been here. Their new ‘technologically advanced’ menus seem to be more hassle than what it’s worth to modernize the place. They use to have regular menus above the counter but they’ve been replaced with televisions that are hard to see and on at least one occasion, have simply not worked. Again, IMO, it’s a downgrade. The service just doesn’t seem as personal anymore either. During my most recent visit I didn’t even get a ‘thank you’ at the counter when I placed my order. Do people really not appreciate business anymore? I hope that they can improve their customer service soon, or I’m going to have to take my business elsewhere:(

Most of these reviews seem harsh for how inexpensive this place is! The taste and service might not be up to par with some of the more upscale health food joints but I really appreciate the reasonable pricing for a fairly healthy option! I created my own bowl with brown rice, grilled chicken, steamed veggies, and the thai peanut sauce. There was a good amount of chicken and veggies and a lot of rice. I would have preferred less rice and more of the other stuff, but the ratio wasn’t terrible. The steamed veggies included broccoli, carrots, cabbage, and red bell pepper. They were steamed to a good consistency and seemed fresh. The thai peanut sauce was okay, it was pretty peanut butter tasting. Overall the food wasn’t anything to rave about but I would definitely come here again for something quick, fairly healthy, and affordable. I love that the menu is marked with which items are gluten free. There is also a little condiment bar where you can help yourself to unlimited hummus, salsa, sauces, lemon, lime, mint, and ginger. I wish there were more gluten free sauce items since I wasn’t a huge fan of the peanut sauce and the other gluten free option has garlic in it which gives me a headache. There are two sizes: regular and small. Everyone in the restaurant looked like they were eating regulars and the bowls look HUGE. So I went with a small bc I wasn’t super hungry. It was actually a good amount of food, good for a lunch size. If you are fairly hungry or a male, definitely go with the regular size, it is only a dollar more. I went here about 1pm on a weekday and it was very busy! But I only had to wait like 5 min for my food and was able to find a seat.

I’ve come here many many times and now I’ve had enough. Maybe it’s new management? Maybe the employees quit caring. …idk. but they messed up my food last time and I was already home so I called, they mailed me a free item. Which I had got the stir fry bowl with teriyaki sauce. Which they forgot to put on. That was the 2nd time it had happened so that’s why I called. I come back and use my card, for the same item, I get home and omg, no sauce again. Really guys? That chicken is so so dry it needs thay sauce. It honestly needs extra sauce. So none? To hard to eat. I live to far to go back, so cereal for dinner it was. I’m done with cbw for a while unfortunately.

I love CBW. Favorites: Thai Chicken Wrap with white meat chicken & wheat noodles inside instead of rice…(TRUSTME) Fajita Wrap(this is no longer on menu but as a long time CBW veteran you can still order it. It is the fajita bowl made as wrap and it’s amazing. Ask for the spinach or tomato tortilla) Make your own Bowl with Salmon, Asian Salad & Brown Rice(You can also sub spinach for grains if you are not in the mood for noodles, quinoa or rice) Green salsa from the salsa bar is possibly the best part about CBW and I suggest putting it on every single item no matter what :) While I absolutely love the food, three stars for the Mission Valley location because I have not had the friendliest service here. They are much friendlier at the other two locations, which is unfortunate. Last time I was there the woman was rude and I rushed when ordering even though I was the only one in line :(
