5 stars for Whitney. 4 stars for the crêpe. I like how you get to create your own, so of course it will taste pretty good. Personal favorites = any fruit, any fruit sauce, green tea mochi, with whip cream. YUM!

After recently having a religious experience from a dessert crêpe establishment in SF I have been craving dessert crepes constantly. I passed this palce after dinner and decided to give it a shot. I love the flavors they provide and the establishment is clean and inviting when it’s not jam packed, typical for businesses in that plaza. However, my 3 star rating is on a combination of value and texture. For the price of the crêpe they do not fill the crêpe much. When I got my crêpe it was a sad sight to see. Not only was the scoop of ice cream tiny but the rest of the filling were given in tiny portions as well. One positive quality about the crepes here are that the flavors/options provided are amazing, their problem is the execution. To be honest, I do not know if I’ll be back here. Let’s just say my once insatiable craving for dessert crepes has been diminished for now. Had I not recently visited an amazing crêpe establishment in SF I would’ve been none the wiser. Curse that place.

I absolutely love crepes, and that’s the only thing I came for. There are both the goods and the bad about this place though. GOOD: –delicious crepes –design/presentation of crepes -«make your own crêpe» option –nice cashier BAD: –very expensive crepes –crepes served in cheap styrofoam plates –very small place –limited tables/seats I enjoyed my strawberry & nutella crêpe and my mango & custard crêpe. I have to say both were very yummy, but I don’t think it was worth how much I paid. If I remember correctly, I’m pretty sure the total for 2 crepes came out to be about $ 12. So that’s practically $ 6 per crêpe. in my opinion, that’s way too expensive even if I was really craving crepes. The presentation of the crepes looked good, but the idea of using cheap disposable plates really got to me. I think I almost cut through the plate itself when trying to cut the crepes. There can be great improvements to this place such as its size and the prices.

I feel like if you are not Asian, you will not understand how to eat a Japanese Crêpe. Because of this, they definitely changed the way they make crepes! BEFORE, it was presented in a cone-like shape, now they serve it on a plate with a fork/knife. WTH, THAT’S NOTHOWYOUEATIT! Ambiance: Small, young, fun, fast. They moved to a smaller facility right next store, so there is very limited seating now. Service: There was no one there at 2pm. The man took our order and made it right then and there. We waited about 5 minutes for our order. Taste: I USE to love the crunchy crêpe that tastes so delicious with ice cream, nutella, and fruit. You eat it like a cone-sandwich and every bite is devoured! Now, the crêpe is not so crunchy, and it is just odd eating it like a French crêpe. Luckily, it still taste good. Price: 1 fruit, nutella, and ice cream crêpe cost $ 5.48 Overall: The presentation is clean, fresh, and nice. But I am very disappointed on this«French-style crêpe». Of course it does not compare to Sophie’s, Genki, and Crêpe Temptation in San Francisco, but I’ll come back only because it is the only Japanese crêpe place in San Diego.

1.2.12: I just don’t understand… I didn’t read the reviews of this place until I decided to write a review. So I was actually quite shocked with the rating they had. On this day the person who help me was a guy and his son. The guy I believe was the owner. They were very nice and patient while we just look through the choices. The place is small, but I don’t think they need a big place. It doesn’t take long to eat a crêpe. The whole origin of crêpe is that you order to go or you order off a food stand. So I didn’t mind the limited seating. So we ordered the strawberry banana with nutella and ice cream. The nutella definitely made this crêpe a winner. Also the guy did a great job on the crêpe itself, it was nice and crispy just the way I liked it. Maybe I just came on a good day? Read reviews about the woman making the crêpe, yeah that scares me a little. A place should have consistency and if she was there, I probably will not order from here either. Overall maybe they just need to train the other person everyone is disliking. Great place!

Crêpe World is not really a world. Almost like a small hole in the world… wall. We made our own crêpe(Strawberry & Nutella). It was pretty good but not worth the price. I’m sure there are better ones out there. There seriously are like 2 – 3 tables. And the workers were sitting down and waiting for customers as we walked in — I felt bad for them. Ambiance: Eh, lost a star. I’d rather go to Café Hue. So plain. Sorry, i wont be coming back unless someone specifically wants to. Which I’d be surprised if they did.

Lots of crêpe options, you can even create your own. My friend and I got a strawberry & banana with nutella spread. It was a small crêpe portion for $ 5…and it was okay, not bad. The nutella spread didn’t taste like nutella, I think we got ripped off, we think it was chocolate spread instead. And we paid for the nutella price. psh! I wish there were better crêpe places, but this place isn’t too bad. It’s not worth coming back for another 6 months or so.

I guess it’s hard to rate crêpe places in SD because, umm, it’s not like there’s a whole bunch to try. My experience with San Diego crepes is basically this place and… this place before it became a closet for Coconut Tree. I had a crêpe filled with custard and topped with whip crème. It tasted good. And that’s about all I can say. Summary: Crepes: they’re not just French for crap.

I really want to like this place a lot but for some reason I just dont care that much for it. I am a huge crêpe fan so whenever I am craving a crêpe and i am in the area I will usually come here or café Hue. Café Hue has better quality crepes and better ingredients but I like to come here for the custard. I always get my usual here when I come which is the nutella and custard crêpe with banana and strawberries. The Strawberries are usually a hit or miss depending on the season. I love their custard here so thats the only reason why i come back. Their crêpe is a bit on the thicker side. I think its a pancake mix not really a crêpe mix so it doesnt have the typical crêpe taste. Also they recently raised their prices and they let customers know via a handwritten note at the register that is illegibly written in cursive or something so I was surprised to see that my crêpe was more expensive then it was on the menu.

I got a crêpe with strawberries, nutella and the purple taro ice cream.(I think it was taro, right) and it was really good. The actual crêpe itself was good, kind of harder/crispier than the normal crêpe but it was really good the perfect amount of sweet. It’s just a bit too pricey when it’s not like FABULOUSS. It’s just. good.

… What a rip off this place is. They are a bit too stingy when it comes to everything that’s going into the crepes. They only give teeny tiny slices of fruit. Not worth it at all. Go down the street to Café Hue, and you’ll be much happier.

I went here about three times in my life, and I can say I’m never disappointed. I went here recently last week and I shared one of my friend because they’re so massive in my opinion. My friend wanted mango ice cream. We came when it was almost closing so there wasn’t a lot left. So our server gave us the rest of mango and scoop of coconut(: I thought it was more than enough ice cream which was really nice of her. I don’t really understand the complaints with this place. It’s just a crêpe I don’t think you can really go wrong with a crêpe. The 1 $ price change isn’t a big deal either. If it was a big deal people wouldn’t still get it hmm?

Wow, the amount of bad reviews for Crêpe World is staggering. It seems everyone’s bitching about a ONEDOLLAR increase? C’mon guys. And all of a sudden, everyone’s a crêpe expert, commenting on the intricacies of crêpe technique and how this establishment sucks at it, etc. I see one star reviews for everything they’re doing relatively wrong, but no credit for what they’re doing RIGHT. I, for one, had a wonderful experience here. Got the fruit combo which was about $ 6 which came with an eclectic variety of fruit, a scoop of ice cream(Taro, I chose) and a delicious crêpe, lined with nutella and whipped cream. I split it with my girlfriend and it was more than enough and considering the work, effort, and size of this establishment the prices are EXTREMELY reasonable and the quality of food was more than just subpar. It seems as if the bulk of the Unilocal community are just as worse as those of Youtube. Uninformed and half-ass opinions with little legitimacy.

Their crepes are garbage. All the crepes I’ve ever eaten outside of Crêpe World have been soft and delicate, while Crêpe World’s crepes are more akin to flattened fortune cookies; they’re crispy like fortune cookies, and they taste like them, too. I even used a semicolon to show you how serious I am. These are not real crepes, y’all. Crêpe World should change their name to Waffle World. I’ve had one waffle that was perfect. It was fluffy, perfectly cooked, and evenly covered in taro ice cream, Nutella, strawberries, and whipped cream. That waffle earned the one star I gave this place. I refuse to give any additional stars for these reasons: — They take FOREVER. It doesn’t matter if you’re the only customer here. I’ve waited upwards of 20 minutes for one waffle. — On two separate occasions, they ran out of waffle batter. Once at two in the afternoon, and another during dinnertime. Why didn’t they just go in the back and make more? They would’ve taken 20 minutes to make my waffle anyway. — Every time I order Nutella as one of the toppings, they forget to put it on there. EVERYTIME. They end up giving it to me in a cup on the side after I’ve reminded them. — The last time I was there, they were out of taro ice cream. I asked if they would have it in the future or if it was out indefinitely, and she told me, «We just couldn’t find it.» I mean??? Partly because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but mostly because my waffle iron was in storage, I came back a couple of times. But they have screwed up every time, so I think I should take a trip to my storage unit and give up on this place.

Today’s dessert: Fruit crêpe(mango) with custard. Price: over $ 4 Result: 3 stars The crêpe was the right consistency and a little sweeter than I’m used to, but tasted just right with the mango. She was a little skimpy on the fillings, and there was little custard to speak of, so the almost $ 5 price tag seemed a bit high. 85+ degrees outside and quite possibly even hotter inside. A/C people! A/C!!!

I thought the crepes were pretty straight forward and standard… plus I’ve been having a hard time finding asian style crepes. So you get an A-OK by me Crêpe World! The chairs and benches weren’t that comfy. Didn’t stop me from taking a seat and loitering though!

This place was better as a purikura joint. We walked into this place and placed an order for a crêpe with ice cream. A few minutes later, two people walked in and placed an order. Out of sheer coincidence they ordered the same thing as us. They got their order first. I don’t know how. When the person finally gave us our order, it didn’t have ice cream. I told them I paid for a crêpe with ice cream and she didn’t believe me. I don’t know why. Aside from that, the place had flies and it smelled like fart the entire time. Not my fault. Also, the set up they have is so bare. It’s kind of like that facebook game Restaurant City’s first level– really random furniture thrown together without much thought. Metal chairs meant for outdoors inside, five folding chairs crowded around one tiny table, park benches indoors. It just didn’t make sense.

For some reason I can’t hate this place, even though I can see why many of the reviewers give Crêpe World such low reviews. Heck, the only reason I’m giving this place a solid 2 stars is because I went 15 minutes before they closed, and it was empty. I noticed that whenever I’m dining near closing or when a place is practically empty, the service is decent. I don’t have to deal with long lines, waiting for our food, or crappy food made in a hurry. I actually had an alright first experience here. This past summer I went to Hong Kong and had AMAZING dessert crepes from Marion Crepes(a Japanese franchise, I believe). The crêpe was perfect in every way — large, soft, moist, chewy, and slightly sweet, filled with multiple scoops of ice cream, mixed fruits, syrup, etc. In essence, the best damned dessert crêpe I have ever had in my life. It was like heaven in my mouth… Delicious, filling, and CHEAP. When I heard that crêpe world had opened after I came back to the U.S., I hoped that I could possibly experience the same… Anyway, back to my first visit. I ordered the mango with nutella for about $ 4.50. The texture of the crêpe itself reminded me of a very thick, yet soft, and really sweet fortune cookie/tortilla, lol. However, it was quite dry, which was why I was glad there was nutella inside. The girl at the register asked if I wanted whipped cream, and I said yes. BIGMISTAKE. Half of the crêpe had mango, and the other half had whipped cream. The whipped cream was overwhelming, so I was practically digging for buried treasure – I mean mango chunks. Next time I’ll skip the whipped cream. The mangoes didn’t taste fresh and crispy, but they were still sweet and delicious. Overall, this place does kind of have an identity crisis. I mean, it just doesn’t really scream«hip delicious dessert place!» at you, and the interior just seems thrown together… In addition, it seems very dead, even at night. Heck, there’s usually a bunch of froyo mongers at Yogurt World near closing, even on a cold night. The cashier looked really bored and unhappy. I liked that this place was cheap, but obviously the crêpe from HK was cheaper and infinitely better. It’s still an alright place to go to, but I wouldn’t recommend spending more than maybe $ 5 if possible — it’s just not worth it. Buying a slice of cake from an Asian bakery would be more cost efficient and tastier. I might have to pay this place another visit if I’m in the area, although probably not on a weekend since this parking lot is as horrible as trying to park in downtown SD on a Friday/Saturday night. I’ll add an update when I do. I wish the owner(Michael?) would bring back WOW… This makes me a sad panda… D;

I’ve been interested in trying this latest concept from the same guy who brought us Tapioca Express and Yogurt World since it opened. From the price points, he’s doing everything right. The crepes are significantly cheaper than anything you’ll find on UCSD’s campus farmer’s market and it’s just novel enough an idea to work. The quality of the crêpe however, left something to be desired by my palette. My friend and I decided to share a Nutella crêpe with fresh strawberries and banana. The fresh was good, but there just wasn’t enough of it, even for nearly $ 5. The crêpe itself was a bit soggy for me and was generally a poor imitation of the authentic Japanese version. And yes, it did taste like a fortune cookie. Seeing as though the crêpe itself is the only thing being cooked, it is apparently also pretty easy to botch. I think the concept of cheap crepes is a great idea, but considering that a normal one typically costs twice as much, corners obviously had to be cut in this preparation. Crepes have always seemed like a classier dish and something special to be enjoyed, but Crêpe World’s concept has really cheapened the experience while serving an inferior product. So I’m writing a review update for Crêpe World a lot sooner than I expected! I came back craving their mangoes, haha. I decided to order the #15 with mangoes and asked the cashier if nutella was good with mango and she said yeah. I was skeptical, thinking she probably just said yes to keep the line moving. However, she was right! The mangoes were sweet and mangoes with nutella didn’t disappoint. Since I only got one fruit, the crêpe was only $ 4, which doesn’t surpass my guilt meter ;P I’m not complaining. The only thing I would complain about was the wait! When we arrived, there was no line but when they called out the first number, I realized there were 7 numbers before me. I was wondering why they were lagging so much. I brought my boyfriend here because he says he’s never had a crêpe before. I crossed my fingers and hooray! He liked it! He doesn’t even like sweets so the fact that he liked crepes made me ecstatic because I love ending dinner with something sweet. Finishing a date at Crêpe World is nice if you don’t care for an «extraordinary desserts» type feeling. Although not such a romantic environment, we were still able to enjoy our time together in our own little world at the corner of the room! It felt real nice.
