I moved to San Diego a few years ago and after several «not so great experiences with my hair cut and color» I found Tru Salon. Deniez is very talented, caring and dedicated to make your experience perfect. I have had so many compliments on my hair.

What a wonderful stylist! I have the best experience with Daniz. She has given me one of the best haircuts ever! I can now freely wear my hair down with minimal product when I am on the go. I am very happy with the customer service she provides as well. She always offers coffee, tea and other beverages to keep me comfortable during my visits. I would recommend Daniz for any service. I especially love how she styles for any occasion. If you are looking to switch up your look, try her out! You won’t be disappointed.

I didn’t actually get my hair done by Daniz, so this is more for the experience involved. I saw the offer for the Global Keratin that Daniz was offering on Groupon so I called to find out more about it. Since I have long thick curly hair I am used to salons upcharging me, when I get this treatment, so I like to call and find out what the range of the upcharge will be.
Daniz was very friendly on the phone and suggested I get a Brazillian blowout instead because it works better for curly thick hair. She said she would give me discount pricing so I could try her out and because I had seen her offer on groupon. We made an appointment for a consultation and agreed that after she saw me, and told me the price, we would decided if I would do the treatment then or not.
I showed up for our appointment and Daniz was still styling her previous clients hair. She didn’t really acknowledge me or let me know when she would be done. I ended up waiting 30 minutes while she finished her clients hair. When she was done she did greet me and apologize, but I do not really appreciate being kept waiting. I have a lot of hair and it takes forever to have it done. Having to wait 30 extra minutes will just add to what would have been an already long appointment.
After seeing my hair Daniz asked a bit about what I’d had done in the past (I have been getting Brazillian Blowouts and Keratin treatments for the last 4 years) and what my experiences have been. I asked what the price would be for the Brazillian Blowout (keep in mind that the groupon deal I called about was for $ 119 dollars). She had said she would give me discount pricing on the phone and when I got there she quoted me $ 250.00. I reminded her of our conversation, and that I had seen the groupon for the Keratin treatment, to which she responded that in the fine print it says depending on length and thickness of hair. I completely understand that, however the most I have ever been upcharged was between 20 – 40 dollars on a Groupon deal. I think telling someone you will honor a groupon deal, and then charging them an extra 130 dollars, is completely ridiculous regardless of whether my hair is thick or not.
If I am trying you out, because I saw your deal on groupon, I can’t understand how you think charging more than double is a good idea. If I ended up liking your work, and I know it’s good quality, I will be happy to pay.
Because of the way that all went down I ended up leaving after my consultation and I definitely will not ever go back. I have paid full price for Keratin Treatments before, and once I know the person I am going to does good work, I have no problem with that. The reason I go on Groupon is so I can try out a new stylist at a lower price and see how their work is.

My husband bought me a deal through livingsocial as I had mentioned that I wanted a trim. The deal was a haircut and style through Daniz at TRU hair salon. I called her and booked an appointment. I try to get a hair trim at least once a year, but it’s been a good 2 years, so I thought I was due.
When I arrived, I was greeted by Daniz and we discussed what I wanted and what I did not want. Now, I know my hair was long and it typically costs a little bit more for longer hair. The length of my hair was just above my waist line and I had mentioned that I only wanted 2 inches removed from the bottom, as I wanted to keep it a little long, because I had a couple of weddings I was attending. I showed her visually with my hands at how much I would like removed and she said she understood.
As she was cutting my hair, we talked about how long she been in the business. She mentioned that she was in the business for a couple of years, so I believed I was in good hands. We talked a bit more and I began browsing through my phone as she did her thing. As soon as she finished, I looked up and noticed she removed more than I wanted. She cut more than 2 inches off. My hair now falls a little below my shoulders– right above my bra line. I was in shock!
I asked her why she removed that much, and her response was, «it looks good that way.»
Now, I don’t really know if she really meant, «I cut off all the dead hair.»
I didn’t want to make a scene, because what can be done at this point? She started to clean up. The voucher was worth $ 65, but she didn’t remember how much it was for. She overcharged me another $ 30 and I paid.
When I got home, I asked my husband how much the voucher was for, and he said, «$ 65.»
I contacted Daniz to dispute the difference and she realized the error she made. She was nice enough to give it to me back and was even willing to leave it for me, just in case I wasn’t able to make it to her shop on time.
Now, I would recommend her, she was very nice and upfront. Her prices are reasonable. I just believe she should pay attention to what her client/​customer wants. It takes a long time for hair to grow and I would have loved to have longer hair to style for the weddings, but I’ll have to make-​do with what I have.

I don’t like to go to hair salon. It just not my thing. After 8 months without hair treatment I went to see Deniez. Her place was absolutely beautiful, well decoration. She’s professional. She made my wire hair back to life again !! It’s soft. Smell good. She cut it nice and stylist. Not too thin not too short. I Felt confident when I walked around. And in the same day my gf make appointment with her after she saw how well done of my hair by Deniez.

5 stars would not be enough to rate Deniez. I would give her 10 stars if I could! I went to see Deniez after 3 months of not having haircut because my previous hairdresser had resigned from the Salon and she is nowhere to be found. It was difficult for me trusting another stylist to do my hair, but the ends of my hair are already dying and desperately needed a cut. Im so glad a client of Deniez referred me to her, so I set up an appointment online at her website, which was very easy. I saw her today and the end result was AH-​mazing. I could not stop touching my hair and looking in the mirror while driving home, I almost bumped the car in front of me! I am definitely coming back. Thank you, Deniez!

I have been going to Deniez for over a year and my hair has never been healthier. I followed her from her previous location to the new salon that she has started on her own. She is very professional and carefully considers your face shape and complexion when recommending a style or color. She used to train stylists and it really shows in her approach and final product. I could not be more pleased with her and plan to continue going here as long as I am in Southern California!

I have been getting my hair done by Deniez for three years. She is amazing at what she does. I keep going back and will continue until she retires. If you want someone who knows what she is doing go to her.

I got an ombré done by Deniez a few months ago but never got around to writing a review. She was so welcoming and accommodating and listened to what I wanted. I had VERY black hair and she was able to get the color to lift quite well! I am very familiar with the orangey/​brassy color that comes about when trying to lift black hair and she did her best to get it as blonde as possible at the bottom of my ombré. The ombré is very gradual and natural looking, and I plan on going back to her to see if I can get my hair to an even higher contrast. Thanks, Deniez!

I love coming to Deniez! I had been going to a wonderful stylist that I loved for over 10yrs & he moved on up to Beverly Hills to advance his career. The search was on. I used Groupon & like programs to try out several places/​stylists over the past few years until I found Deniez. Besides being warm, friendly & welcoming, she listens to what I want. and does it! (that may seem silly but many stylists listen & then do what THEY want!). I have come several times getting cut, color and/​or Brazilian blowout & it always looks & feels great! And i always get lots of compliments weeks after!

I have been going to Deniez on a regular basis for two years. She has made my fine, curly, feather head of greying hair into heathy, shiny, straight hair and maintains my dark locks into something i can manage, feel great and I get compliments. She is a very good listener and will do a great job at cutting, keratin straightening coloring including ombré and will leave you feeling so much better physically and mentally. Friendliness and courtesy are the norm here in this chic salon where everything is kept spotless and many goodies to spoil you. Thanks Deniez for taking care of me after hand surgery and I have been with you ever since.

Best ombré in San Diego! I was referred by a friend, and have been to her several times to get my ombré done. She does an AMAZING job! I work in the service industry, and constantly am getting complemented and asked who does my hair. I would highly recommend her!

I found Deniez through her great reviews in Unilocal.She is super close to where I work, so it was convenient for me to stop by after work. I am newer to the area and was in need of a new stylist. She did an amazing job! She is very professional and super personable! She seems very experienced and intelligent when it comes to knowing what is good and what is not for your hair. I would give 4.5 stars if I could! But I can’t and I’m the kind of person who saves my 5 star ratings for pure magic, so 4 it is.
I found Deniez via a Unilocal search for Brazilian blowout deals after looking in the mirror on an extra frizzy hairday. She ended up convincing me to go for the global keratin treatment in the end, which is looking good so far! My hair is totally smooth for a change — I’ll have to see how it holds up with humidity over time.
I had an eclectic assortment of randomly placed red and blonde highlights when I went in. Deniez transformed it into something that not only looks intentional, but pretty damn amazing! I can’t stop looking at my hair :)
The overall experience was really great. Evian has that modern, chic vibe you expect from a nice salon — and any stylist that offers me mimosas (garnished with strawberries!) throughout my appointment is a winner in my book ;) Deniez is really sweet and funny. We were jamming to the pandora station she had on and chatting throughout the appointment — she gets MAJOR props for bringing up one of my favorite poets! I mean, how often do you get to discuss ancient spiritual poetry at a hair appointment?
I definitely recommend Deniez if you’re looking for a great cut and color :)

I do not recommend! Was here a few months ago and my hair is still ruined. Also just like the other reviewer had said my hair was hacked in some places and I went to another hairdresser and they asked if I cut it myself because it needed to be fixed and layered. I had hair that was one length. :(
A lot of 5 star reviews from Unilocalers with only 1 review each on their profile. Very suspicious. Do your homework!

I found Deniez through the Groupon deal for Global Keratin. I’ve always wanted to try it, so I went in for an appointment. My first red flag was the fact that it’s $ 50 for a haircut, and I was told «that was including a discount.» The keratin did not even last me 2 WEEKS, and when I went to another salon to get it fixed I was told that the keratin was poorly applied, and there was hardly any product applied at all. Plus, I asked Deniez to just give me a trim. She kept chatting while cutting and before I knew it, she cut 3 INCHES off of my hair, which I’ve been trying to grow out for a long time. Again, when I went to another salon they asked me if I tried cutting my own hair! Not only did I pay $ 150 for a poorly applied keratin treatment, but I can’t believe I spent $ 50 on an awful haircut. It was the worst and most expensive haircut I’ve ever had.
I felt totally ripped off. =(

Deniez is awesome! This was honestly the best haircut I’ve ever gotten! It looks like I’m the only guy writing a review so far, but I’m usually very picky with haircuts and she knew exactly how to push the envelope in style. As this is the first time I’ve decided to grow my hair out, I have had no luck with other hair stylists and their cuts — but Deniez quickly found the issues going on with my hair and cut it in a way that has fit my face shape perfectly. I have never received so many compliments about my hair within the following couple weeks as with Deniez’s cut (and she even gave me better tips about how to maintain my hair and keep it growing the way I’m looking to do — most guys have absolutely no clue what to do in this field). She was very patient and receptive to my needs and made me feel very comfortable during the entire process. I am definitely returning to Deniez to keep my hair in tip-​top shape!
If you’re looking for someone who understands modern style and at the same time knows how to bridge the gaps between conservatism and new techniques, go to Deniez! Extremely knowledgeable and professional — and for guys who care about their hair but are always hesitant to step it up with a professional hairstylist — definitely go for it! Deniez is worth the shot. She knows how to dumb it down and basically speak guy language, and fit your hair the way that’s ideal for you.

Deniez is simply amazing. When I first saw her, my blond hair had been turned dark brown by a woman at another salon and all I wanted was my beautiful light hair back. Well, Deniez took on the challenge and matched the color in the photo I gave her perfectly, in one sitting. She didn’t try to give me a line about how difficult it would be or try to extend the change into several visits, she just knew what needed to be done, and made it happen. Since then, she has done an ombré red… which also turned out exactly as the photo and a Keratin treatment. I am seriously in love with my hair after every visit and always get tons of compliments.
She’s very upbeat, friendly, and makes the time go by super fast… every time I see her it’s like seeing an old friend. I would highly recommend her to my friends and family.

I have been to Deniez twice now and found out about her originally from a Groupon Now! deal because I wanted a cut and color the same day. I called up Deniez and told her what I wanted, which was an ombré and that she’s the ombré QUEEN! So she squeezed me in on the same day for the ombré an cut at my convenience, which was so accommodating of her!
Deniez did an amazing job on my ombré color and cut. I got so many compliments :) Deniez gave me a deep conditioning treatment with amazing Kerastase products and made my hair look so healthy/​amazing!!! She really is indeed an ombré queen. I loved the way she cut my hair also. She framed my face with layers and gave me cute side swept bangs just how I wanted them.
Also, I love how outgoing and bubbly Deniez’s personality is. It’s really easy to talk to her and keep fun conversations going. She is so friendly and pretty also! I was hungry at the time of getting my cut, so she went in the back and brought out a platter of crackers with salami and cheese for me, which was totally sweet of her. I booked my next appt with her to do keratin treatment to smooth out my hair and I’m excited! :) Thanks Deniez, you’re lovely! Go to Deniez for all your hair needs!
