I play pool league and this is our home bar and sponsor for the APA pool league.
With the exception of parking, this bar is overall a cool place to hangout, have a few drinks and definitely eat some food off the menu.
Our league rotates through different bars, but we play here at least twice a month. All the bartenders seem nice and cordial.
If you are looking for spot to have a good place to socialize, eat a burger and shoot pool, give Desi’s a try!

Desi’s Bar and Grill is as wonderful as the lady who owns and operates it.
My bro introduced me to Desi’s several years ago on one fateful night. All other bars real and imaginary pale in comparison to Desi’s.
Desi’s has the best cheeseburger in San Diego and that’s no lie.
Desi always makes me feel like family and the atmosphere can’t be beat.
If I make the guest list at the gates of Heaven I hope that St. Pete informs me,“hey we have Desi’s up here and Joey Ramone wants to buy you a drink.”

Love this bar. Looks small from the outside but it’s really quite large and goes all the way to the back. They have amazing food and the burgers are THE BEST. I also love the wings. Desi, Summer, Brittany and Adam are the absolute best. This place reminds me of Cheers. They do trivia on Tuesday nights, and live music on Thursday nights. A real neighborhood vibe. Go in and get yourself a burger.

This place is pretty cool actually. I have come here twice and the second time, they remembered me! I have only gone for trivia night, so the energy is different on its own. There were a few people who weren’t there for trivia, but not a lot.
This is definitely a hang out spot if you’re into just kicking back with friends. If you are on a mission to meet people, try another area! (In my opinion!)
HOWEVER… The food really is magical. The burger is freaking good… And obviously the drinks don’t disappoint lol. I really like this place and hope I can check it out when it isn’t trivia night!

This is great place to go if you want to get hammered and make some bad decisions. The drinks are cheap, healthy pours on all shots and cocktails. 2 pool tables, touch tunes, and dart boards (plastic). The place has kind of an eerie dungeon vibe too it which can be cool if you’re in the mood for that sort of thing. The staff is cool, Desi herself will serve you most nights.

The place is as good as it gets! Been going here since 2002. Staff is always awesome, I have never had to wait on a drink. The drinks are strong and the food is great. All the patrons and locals are friendly; never any drama or fights. Place reminds me of a real life «Cheers». Both the owners are super cool especially Desi. I have had nothing but good times here, I doubt I will find a place like this on the east coast.

This is most definitely your quintessential dive bar in San Diego, but what a great place to listen to Jerry Gontang and his troupe of players! They do serve a good burger with great fries and the service was fast and friendly. Enjoyed spending time listening to music with my son, who was a bit intimidated by the cougars hitting on him, right in front of his Mom, in the San Diego Parrot Club who had a Flock meeting prior to the music. It was kind of fun!

Stumbled on this dive bar last night. It’s mighty deceiving-it’s way bigger than it looks from the outside. It’s huge and goes on & on, upstairs/​downstairs. The owner, Desi, was super friendly and the place was cool. People were chill-​neighborhood type bar. Not overly crowded. Great music (GnR, yes!). Yummy wings and jalapeño poppers. They’ve got a pool table on the main floor (maybe others but I didn’t venture too far from the bar) and there’s plenty of parking. Good times with friends. Will be back! Ps-​I heard their burgers are the best in town-​gotta try next time!

Yes, it’s a dive bar. Comfortable, relaxed, everyone knows everyone and if you aren’t known, like I was, they get to know you!

Desi’s really is the friendly locals «Cheers» like bar where everybody knows your name, or gets to know you. We’ve been several times over the years, and it seems like we always meet friendly, interesting people.
Good drinks; better than average bar food (the cheeseburger and wings are actually very good), pool table, darts, all at good prices.
But the best part is the live music — the group last night (didn’t catch their name) plays every Tuesday, and they were really good. Kind of Jimmy Buffet/​James Taylor style. Definitey check them out.
PS: their upstairs room is available for private events — have been there for charity poker tournaments, meetings, etc.

A friendly local bar with better than decent food. The fish and chips are good and the burgers are too.
We go once a month for a group meeting, and they handle the onslaught just fine. I’ve never had to wait too long for food or drinks.
