We are a top notch STAR certified shop. We perform all Regular and Test-​Only smog inspections, transfer of ownership, out of state or military base inspections. We only do vehicle smog checks, and won’t ever try to sell you any repair work. Wait in the comfort of our air conditioned, tiki-​themed waiting lounge, while enjoying FREE Kona coffee and surfing the web on our FREE high-​speed WiFi connection. We specialize in 15 minute smog checks, with appointment. Imports, domestics, exotics, RV’s and diesel vehicles are all welcome!

History

Established in 2009.

One day while getting a smog check done on my car, I thought, «Why does getting a smog check have to be such a dreadful chore? What if there was a smog shop that was a fun place to go, served GOOD coffee, offered free Wi-​Fi, had awesome customer service and had a clean and comfortable waiting room?» We turned our love of retro-​Tiki culture and our loathing of yucky smog shops into our family business. We hope your experience at Smog Oasis changes your mind about the «dreadful chore» of getting your smog check, and makes you look forward to that next DMV registration renewal that tells you «It’s Time for a Smog Inspection…»

We are San Diego natives and have lived in Point Loma for 10 years. I’m the Proud Daddio of an awesome pre-​schooler named Jett. I enjoy flying, surfing, and riding motorcycles. In our spare time, you’re likely to find us throwing a tennis ball for our ex-​racing greyhound and italian greyhound at Dog Beach, fishing for Dorodo, Tuna or Yellowtail offshore from San Diego or shopping at one of the cool farmer’s markets in the area! We love Baja California, motorsports, snow boarding, and supporting the local businesses in Point Loma!

Service was prompt & courteous. But shop around… saved $ 20 by making an appointment… but even with that[$ 80-​$ 20] it was still twice the going rate of about $ 30.
1÷6÷16 UPDATE: Previous SMOG check was done by SD Smog & Repair Ctr at 3375 Hancock St for $ 38[$ 29.75 for SMOG check; $ 8.25 for SMOG cert].

Got in here last minute and needed a smog ASAP the helped me out even though they were closing in 5 minutes. Scott helped me out. Really great service for something I’m sure isn’t to entertaining. After a long day of work I have to do this tedious task of getting a smog check. I’ve been driving by this place the last 2 years and for efficiency I decided to do my smog check here.
You can’t miss it with all of their flags on the side of the road. The ambiance is really nice. It really looks like an Oasis with the Islander theme in the lobby. The music makes me feel like I’m getting ready to go surfing in a movie/​tv show. Mr. Scott was really nice, approachable, and helpful. Got out in like 20 mins with no other customers.

Got the job done, but they charge almost $ 30 more than other shops. Only got it done here because I was in a hurry and it was late in the day. I’d rather save $ 30 and not have the «tiki oasis» ambience.

Been here a couple times. Took my wife’s Sentra here and it was such a great experience I came back with my Titan. No matter the vehicle, they can almost always do it. Both times I called and had an appointment within an hour.
Both times Matt has been here and been the one to do the service. He is friendly and knowledgable, always happy and does a great job!
The place itself is unique and cool too! Surf tunes, a little «tiki bar» with coffee and Hawaiian stuff all around. Makes the wait time seem even shorted than it is

Why did I put off getting my car smogged for so long??? Smog Oasis made it quick, cozy and painless. Seriously — I was in and out of there in 15 min and I got to chill in their cute tiki inspired waiting room and read for a second.

I am really pleased with this place, their customer service, and cute atmosphere. The gentlemen was extremely kind and I was greeted with Kona coffee immediately upon entering. The Hawaiian music they played was a cute touch! And it only took a few minutes! Thanks for making my morning simple!

Great smog place! I was looking for a place on my way home from work that was open late, and found this little oasis. Friendly staff, free good coffee, and a comfortable waiting area.
If coming form rosecrans, you’ll need to do a loop near corvette dinner as there is a no left turn sign at the business.

Quick, efficient, and actually quite a pleasure to sit in their small waiting lounge, cool music playing in the background and there’s a/​c!
Smog check price seemed steep ($ 80) BUT I’ve never had one done before so I don’t have anything to compare to… Whatever though, I definitely liked a clean & friendly place and if that’s part of what I was paying for, so be it.

Great shop– Always free coffee and water, and a very relaxing and comfortable waiting area. Four and not five stars due to VERY elevated pricing, but here’s the rub. You can come here, and have it done right, your info transmitted properly to the DMV and your car well treated (on top of all the niceties), — OR — you can go to the other type of place where you’ll… 1. Wait in the sun by a dumpster and a crackhead (who’s possibly residing in said dumpster), 2. Have you info screwed up and not transmitted properly, 3. Be treated like you’re asking for a favor or something. So… It’s worth the extra $ 20 or $ 30 dollars. Be sure to ask for his special– He’ll generally honor his internet sale price for asking. Very polite, and overall really well done. Recommended.

I had to get my first smog check on my own, so I frantically searched for a place and they had the best reviews so I thought I would give them a shot and I must say that Smog Oasis was the best place I could have picked. They live up to every positive review on here.
When they say 15 minutes, they mean it. I was in and out. The lounge is very comfortable and relaxing. The two guys that helped me in the front were great! A little pricey but perfect for a quick, high quality job! If you make an appointment online you get a $ 20 off coupon :)

This is actually our second time here. The first time was two years ago (long before I started Unilocaling). We came to Smog Oasis that first time because it was across the street from Liberty Station (where we trained) and it was open kind of later on Saturday.
Of course, we waited till about the last minute to smog the car for the DMV. The guys there didn’t even bat an eye at our sort-​of-​late notice, though. They just took our information, pulled the car into the garage, and had it finished (and passed, thank goodness) before we even had a chance to settle into their «tiki lounge».
Fast forward two years, and we get a postcard (complete with a coupon) from the guys at Smog Oasis, letting us know that we were due for another smog certification. That was a nice reminder, since we had put the notification from the DMV on our side table, and promptly forgot about it. Heh.
At any rate, we stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. There was only guy working, and he had a car in front of us. Despite that, he told us that it shouldn’t be longer than 15 – 20 minutes.
We had the mongrels with us, so we walked across the street to Liberty Station, and let them tear loose on the grass. We had a nice vantage point of the shop, so we could see when our car was pulled in to the garage, and were able to time our walk back to the shop with the completion of the smog test.
The shop automatically transmits the certificate to the DMV, of course, which is also nice. They were quick, friendly, and I appreciated the coupon on the postcard. Sure, they’re not nearly as cheap as some of the other places around, but I don’t mind that so much, somehow.
