I should clarify my review with this: INNOWAYDO I ENDORSETHESOCALLED«DIMSUM» HERE. Yes, the joint is called«Dim Sum Café» but this was probably a bad business decision by the owners. Come here for the nice people and cheap 99-cent style Chinese food and convenience factor — especially now that Shanghai is gone. Again, I highly recommend the chicken curry. DONOT come here for anything that is labeled dim sum.

Blechh! So my I went here after my indecisive friend and I could not figure out anything cheap and Chinese in Mission Valley, he convinced me to go here. You could just stop here and take my advice never to come here because the food is just atrocious, or you can read why. So the place gets one star because the lady here is super nice and friendly, and there are Lego models in one of the food windows. The rest of the place looked like a cafeteria complete with heat lamps and trays and all that jazz.
The food didn’t look bad, so I ordered the kung pao chicken over rice. I ate three pieces of chicken and then decided it was just not for me. I ate the veggies and rice. This is one time that I am sad to say that I didn’t just spring for Pick Up Stix.
P.S. Literally the thinnest chop sticks that I have ever used in my life, I am surprised that they did not snap under the pressure of trying to dig out rice from under my chicken.

Food was horrid. The lady was really nice though. Good in theory but the food just needs a lot of work.

Not the place to get Dim Sum. They should just call this place Chinese Fast Food because that’s all that they really have to offer. I guess I can get by with getting food from this place once every couple of months, but definitely not a daily thing. Food’s okay, but not that great.

pros… they close, and they are not open late. cons…where to begin… i used to go to pcom(acupuncture school), up the hill and i would have to eat lunch at this plaza at least twice a week for 3.5 years. and i can say that i have only been here once. it is by far the the worst restaurant in this plaza. the food is greasy, oily and bad tasting. it is not really quite edible, it probably won’t make you sick, but you probably won’t feel all that great eating it either. the service was slow, and there wasn’t anyone else in the place. that was a bad sign right there. the dim sum if you can even call it that was horrible. over fried, used the oil way too many times. dumpling skins were way too thick. can’t believe this place is still open. but i guess people need to eat.

I don’t know about the rest of the food which looks pretty tasty, but I had the dim sum and it was absolutely horrid. It was super greasy(more so than normal dim sum), the dumplings sat in your stomach like rocks, it was too salty, and the dumpling skins were thick and overcooked when they should be delicate and light. Maybe I’ll edit my review if I ever try their other food, but for now, it’s just two stars for me — what I had was practically inedible and the only reason why this place gets an extra star is because the lady who works there was so nice to us.

I hate it when good people make bad food. It makes it so much harder to knock them. The lady that works here were super nice and me feel all warm inside. Point for her. Unfortunately, the Dim sum is sub par. My Sui Mai was falling apart. My other items were too salty. But I guess I shouldn’t have expected so much from an express kind of place. I got what I paid for. As the only place in Mission Valley that serves Dim Sum, it’s a nice change of pace from fish tacos. But If you have a chance, go to Jasmines or Emeralds for better Dim sum.
