Dog Beach Dog Wash

Cant believe i didn’t know about this place sooner! The staff was super nice and friendly. Its a cute little spot that has everything needed for a do-​it-​yourself dog wash. They gave me a cute apron, a box filled with towels, soap, brushes, and washcloths, and set me up to a tub with warm water for my pups. This place comes in handy whenever i bring my dogs to the beach and need a place to get them clean. Had a great experience and cant wait to come back. Theres also a 10% discount if you wash multiple dogs inside the same tub.

I’ve never met a friendlier and more dedicated staff than the people at this dog wash facility! Suellen is an extremely sweet lady who greeted us very warmly and catered to our dogs without even being asked to. Everything was clean and convenient for us which is great when you’re bringing in three of your own dogs to get washed. Speaking of that, you get a 10% discount per dog when you use the same tub to wash multiple dogs. The shampoo, brushes and towels were given to us without an extra charge and the doggies got a huge handful of treats for free after their visit. The staff was very nice and you could tell they loved their job and the people and animals they work with. I highly recommend this place.

I rate this place so highly because of the great staff. I always take my dogs there after a beach day. My Lab tends to have issues with whoever is cutting his nails. But after meeting Olivia, she has it down pat. She has gotten the nails short enough where it is only a once a month occurence to cut his nails. My girlfriend and I love this place and always get treats and toys for the dogs on the way home to Murrieta. We also tend to chuckle at how funny the dogs look when they are hoisted up in the harness for their nails.

We’ve been going here for the past 2 yrs since the salty dog wash closed. The prices are higher but it’s a block away from where we used to go. Had ok experiences in the past. The staff has not really been very personable. Whatever. It’s a do-​it-​yourself place dog wash. But today, I had an experience which has prompted me to take my business elsewhere.
I have a customer loyalty card where if you do 9 dog washes the 10^th is free. I was aware that you could only earn credit for this on weekdays and my girlfriend and I made sure we came in on weekdays to wash the dog so that we could earn our rewards. Fast forward 9 washes…
I tried to redeem my rewards card today (Sunday) and was told I could not redeem it. I had filled this card several times before and never had a problem redeeming it. I had never been told that there were any restrictions on redemption of the rewards, just that I could only earn the rewards on weekdays. That makes sense. Drive weekday business. I get that. What I don’t get is having a restriction on redeeming it.
I tried to discuss this with the girl at the front desk all she could say was «weekday special». Literally that was the only answer I received, about 5 times. I told her that we have had filled these reward cards before and never been told the was a restriction on redemption. The reward card didn’t say anything on it about restrictions on redemption. I got a condescending reply to this complaint saying, «Weekends are busy. That’s why it’s a weekday special.» When I tried to express further that I understood that’s when you can earn the rewards but I was not told about restrictions on redemption, reply was to just repeat herself in the same tone.
As a business owner myself, if someone had been frequenting my business for the past 2 years and has earned a reward, they earned that reward. I will not restrict them on when they can use it. I understand that weekends can be busier but it wasn’t today. The reason you have the rewards is to entice people and get them to continue coming and ultimately you make more money from their patronage. So if you’re going to restrict a reward in addition to not letting a customer know there’s a redemption restriction, then you are going to lose customers because they feel that their patronage has been of zero value. Further, if said loyal customer is displeased with some thing, offer them an explanation and engage them so that they feel heard. Don’t have your employee condescendingly repeat the same thing five times. Teach them how to engage a customer, otherwise you’re really not going to be getting your $ 15/hr’s worth as the business owner.
Now, I am no longer concerned about the reward that I earned. What is occupying my mind is how poorly I was dealt with as a loyal customer and how crappy my last experience is with this business. I will be trying out new places to see if I can find a place that at least interacts well with their clients. I will also not be recommending your business based on the dialogue that I was not able to have with… Ms. Weekday Special.
It is my sincere hope that the business takes something away from this and treats it as a learning experience when it comes to customer interaction which in turn leads to customer retention.

Fun place to take the dog. Friendly staff 15 bucks for a wash. Little steep for just easing the dog (I typical do my bath tub). Personally not sure if return because the price point but was nice to hit after the beach

Love this place! Awesome friendly staff and it’s so much fun! I’m pretty sure I may have enjoyed it a little more than my dog :) They supply you with an apron and encourage you to make as much of a mess as you need to:) I also got my dogs nails clipped which was an interesting experience. Luckily, Michael was super patient and understanding of my dog’s behavior. There were two other employees who helped me out but I can’t remember there names, Brandon and Micah maybe? Thank you guys! $ 15 for everything you need to bathe your doggeh. The water is always warm and they give you towels, soap, and aprons. They also have toys and treats for sale and they do a loyalty stamp card on week days. Really friendly service and they also have a blow drying station.

Overall god place but i can’t make myself give more than 3 stars Awesome shop and good selection of toys, collars, treats, and shampoo. That being said, I haven’t washed my dog here, only a nail trim on my third and most recent visit.
Nails were done by a guy with a ponytail who was efficient but not very personable. He did a great job and it was my first experience with a dremel and he assured me it would be painless. He didn’t talk much, but i guess i wouldn’t really want to distract him either.
All of those were really good, but i had a terrible experience with one of the other employees. I was not sure if i even wanted to include it, but i saw her again the other night and it assured me that she was really a lame employee.
When i entered the business for the first time, an employee greeted me. Didn’t catch her name, but she was a taller chick with a marine bun. She did the good old «Thanks for stopping by! Looking for anything special?» routine which is fine. I told her i was just looking around and she pretty much left me alone. After picking out some treats, i approached the register. Standing at the register is the lame employee. She is hunched over her cell phone watching some videos and completely ignoring me. Normally i couldn’t care less about cell phones, but i think that when the customer is waiting on you to finish your video, thats not okay. I tried to get her attention and she still ignored me. I took out my own phone and took a picture of her from my side of the register. I will be posting this photo. «Marine Bun» saw this and quickly came over and rung me out. I was so annoyed by then that I was probably a little rude to Marine Bun (sorry).
Now, i was willing to call it one bad night until i was walking past a few days ago. The rude girl was sitting out front on the waiting bench. We will call her braces. She was sitting there smoking weed on the front bench! I am not blind to the area we live in, but seriously? Braces quickly shoved the burning pipe up her shirt sleeve and said hi. I don’t care about weed usually either, but Braces was already super annoying and that time i couldn’t even make myself go into the shop knowing that she was there.
My only hope is that her bosses check this and know who i’m talking about. I don’t know what her customer service is usually like but i was not okay with this. Her paycheck should be considered robbery because in the two encounters i had with her, she didn’t do any work. She ignored me for her phone, and sat outside smoking weed.
Update: Better customer service from employees on most recent visit. I’m assuming management talked to the employees about my review and they fixed the negative behavior. «ponytail» is actually named Steve and he was very helpful in pointing out the anniversary sale signs. Congrats on 23 years you guys and a massive improvement in service. I also took down the picture of the young lady whose name i still don’t know. I realize that it is kind of harsh to leave up on here in case management decides to keep her. That being said, i stand by my opinion that she would have to do a complete 180 to even be considered a decent employee.

I had high hopes for this place as it has great reviews, but my husband and I were pretty disappointed. We took our two small dogs (5 and 8 lbs) in after the beach on a Sunday afternoon, there was no wait time which was nice. The dogs shared a tub which made things easier, but they didn’t have risers for them to stand on like most DIY places. We had to bend way over, totally killing our backs. The water was tepid at best, and it wasn’t easy watching our pups shiver the whole time. There’s an extra fee to use the hose dryer which I’ve never experienced anywhere else, the air pressure was very weak and again, the air was COLD! Our dogs have medium length hair so it normally does take a while to dry them, but it took significantly longer than usual because of the lack of heat and air pressure, around 25 – 30 minutes total. It doesn’t take nearly that long at home with a hair dryer. We didn’t experience the great customer service that other reviewers talk about, the staff didn’t really talk to us at all. There were maybe 2 other dogs there the whole time and I saw at least 3 people working. $ 35 later, we left very frustrated and our poor dogs were still damp and shivering cold. I would have skipped the drying all together but we don’t live close by and didn’t want them to freeze on the way home. Other places have much better prices and offer a better experience overall, I guess you pay for the convenience of being so close to dog beach. Maybe we caught them on a bad day, but we were very underwhelmed.

I thank my heavenly stars for OB Dog wash. Post dog beach dogs are happy, healthy and DIRTY. If I couldn’t wash my dog after the beach, I don’t know I would have done. As you may or may not know, San Diego’s apartments and homes are OLD and to give a dog in your bath would mean that you would have to pay for it dearly for a long long time. Those pipes just aren’t meant for german shepherds! Anyhow, thankfully I can still provide my pups a good time thanks to OB Dog beach. Only one time was there a wait, I have always found convenient parking, and the staff really do seem to love their jobs (Thanks for keeping the water stocked outside guys! The dogs are usually really dehydrated after the beach). Also a great place to buy water toys if you forgot and dog treats after you’re done.

I really don’t know how they have 4 and a half stars, when we said we wanted to shave our dog the guy said well his hair is short but we said he sheds but the guy said if you shave him it won’t make a difference and as he walked away to get us our supplies he was shaking his head. Not the best customer service at all!

Awesome place — and the location is perfect! Treats provided with payment to reward your pooch for tolerating a bath!

This is a really well run operation to take your dog and here are the reasons why I’ve never wanted to return to a competitor (I tried but why go to second best?)
A) you can wash your dog in a raised bath, harness his neck so he won’t run, scrub, brush, rinse and praise.
B) you can get your dogs nails trimmed in a raised harness with the least amount of drama ever.
C) you can buy dog treats, collars, special medicated shampoos that are cheaper than your vet I might add.
D) the staff is amazing and kind and fair.
E) this business donates doggie poop pick up bags at the OB dog beach to keep our beaches clean in case you forgot your bag that day. They also help organize and assist with beach cleanups in general. This business cares about your dog, you, our beach, and the environment.
So I must ask you, why would you go anywhere else

What a great idea! After a day of frolicking on the beach my dogs were covered in sand. The gentleman working got everything ready for me and was very pleasant. Additionally, he didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need. Love this place!

Bring in the novel idea of a dog wash beach side and you have a genius idea that is heaven for your piece of mind. No longer will you be cleaning sand out of your tub at home or worrying that by the time you get home your car will house some pretty gnarly sand dunes. You won’t even have to clean (on top of cleaning a dog) the tub of hair and sand, wash the towels, or worry about the splash zone (because they have aprons!)
No guess work, they give you a basket with diluted soap, grooming and scrubbing supplies, unlimited towels, a professional bathtub setup with a waterproof lead for your pup, aprons for all your little helpers — all for the low low basic price of $ 14 (as of April 2015) — of course you can add on blowdry seshs’ and fancier soaps, but either way it is a real deal. My dog hates getting his nails clipped, the sound causes him anxiety. Even vets complain about how difficult he is lol. A friend told me they used dremels here, so I gave it a shot. I was worried but they do a wonderful job!
The first time I held him, but he was a bit squirmy. The last few times, we’ve used the holster which helps calm him down a lot. He doesn’t Unilocal or jerk like he does when vets clip his nails; the employees are very nice; treats at check out, and it’s only $ 13?! If you have issues with nail trimmings, I suggest giving this place a shot :)

Picture this… My doodle gets a little stinky from a long week of playing at daycare, romping in the grass and spittle from other pups. We get up early on Saturday morning and hit up the OB Dog Beach for some early morning play time.
Once Rocco is good and coated with sand and salt water (he really only goes in up to his armpits) we head to get our wash on!
The tubs are perfect height to save your achin back. The supplies are perfect… Shampoo, two brushes, a wash cloth and two towels. The water is perfect temp and sprayer is so easy to use.
We scrub a dub dub, opt for a conditioning treatment and head on out!
This is SO much easier than doing it at home. Could you imagine getting all that sand in YOUR bathtub? No thank you! For $ 14 we will keep coming back 2 – 3 times per month.
The employees are super friendly and helpful too… There was a non desirable patron who came in once and may have been having some personal issues going on. One of the female employees helped find him some treats for his dog and listened to him talk about a bunch of random stuff. After he left I mentioned that she was much more patient than I was… She just smiled and said that he came in pretty often.
Just an all around good place. We’ve never done the nails so can’t comment on that…
They always give you a big handful of treats on the way out too!
