Our engineers & technicians will inspect & repair & maintain your Mac or PC in a record time, usually the same day. We also provide PC services such as repair, virus sweep, cleanup & upgrades.

We offer free technical support with every computer, and every purchase includes a limited warranty. If a product fails at any time before the warranty’s end, we will replace or repair the item free of charge.

Solex Micro markets Apple products in the USA. We have engaged in wholesale & retail of Macs, peripherals & accessories for over 23 years. Our experience includes an Apple-​authorized retail store in Paris, France with a 15-​person staff.

Presently, we concentrate on the sale, maintenance & repair of Macs with an emphasis on the San Diego County marketplace. We do handle PC repair & upgrade on a daily basis.

Solex Micro is a California privately-​held corporation which operates a store under the Dr Chip brand. We employ 4 people, including 2 technicians. We pride ourselves on customer satisfaction.

I purchased 2 of his MagSafe MacBook AC chargers. He assured me that they would last longer than the 90-​day warranty if I wrapped the cords properly when I travelled with them. The one I left plugged in at my house stopped working shortly after the 90-​warranty lapsed, and the other one stopped working a few months later.
Don’t waste your money trying to save some here! It’s horrible for the environment. I hate throwing these things away even more than I hate having to buy another from the Apple store!

Sad the guy knows computers but is stuck on, Middle Eastern tactics always feels like he has to charge top dollar and then do half the work and then uses a sort of extortion if you want your laptop or computer put back together it’s an additional charge or he will just leave it disconnected not put back together, a complete mess after you pay him up front… You’ve been warned

) Techs have been amongst the most pleasant, easiest and most knowledgeable folks I have dealt with over 4 years. Economical, honest, and friendly.
After I left my high-​strung, overpriced, Mid-​city Mac tech 5 yrs ago, I havent missed him; because Mohamad takes good care of me, on issues from hardware, to infrequent software issues, to regular maintenance and phone consults.
I refer mac and PC folks alike, and those who go, report back, «satisfied.» These (solex, Mr chip) are people worth knowing.

I have been a customer of Mohammed’s for over three years now and I am more than satisfied with his products and services. Whenever I’ve had any questions or needed help figuring something out with the mac I bought from him, he is always ready to help– and SO FRIENDLY! He is a trustworthy person and I have had no problems with my mac. I love it! So glad I switched from PC. The battery is still doing great and the power cord and separate extension cord he gave me complimentary are all doing great. He gave me a 6 MONTH warranty which is unheard of when buying second hand, but I never needed it because I never had any issues. He had the best price I could find and I am SO GLAD I found him! Do yourself a favor and check him out. All companies should treat their customers as well as he does.

I dropped my MacBook and the hard drive was messed up and the computer wouldn’t start. I was leery of using someone off Craigslist but thought I would give this shop a visit. Turns out Mohammed has been working on Apple’s for 30 years and is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. He literally diagnosed my hard drive with his software, gave me a price sheet for a list of fully loaded new hard drives, then installed the thing, all within 12 minutes. I even got a better hard drive than before. The whole trip cost me $ 180 and he even was nice enough to hook me up with a free pair of iPod headphones. That process would’ve taken days and probably cost me close to $ 500 if I had used Geek Squad or an Apple store. Best possible person to go to if you have any Mac problems or are looking for a good used one to buy.

Mohammed is a Gentleman and a Scholar. He went above and beyond anything I would have expected pursuant to the repair of my Mac PowerBook. It is like a new computer– though it is somewhat dated, he has transformed it into the very best piece of machinery its processor will allow. He even went as far as to come and pick my computer up from me, and emailed me hours later to let me know it was completely done and ready for pick-​up. Before you go and fork over your hard-​earned cash to any other ‘supposed’ professional who will charge you $ 99 site unseen before you walk in the door– I highly advice calling Mohammed first. He has been doing this a long time and not only did he supersede my repair expectations– he was a pleasure to meet. Without any hesitation I will return to him for any future issues with all of my computing needs, and I highly recommend him if you or someone you know needs honest, sound, fast advice, repair, or maintenance with anything Mac related. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the services he provided. I found him by chance on Craigslist– had my reservations about using him before hand; but after all was said and done, I cannot thank him enough for not only giving back my PowerBook better than it was before, but for just being a good, kind person who does what he says– and delivering a service above and beyond what is to be expected in his field. –CS

Mohamad Hammad is awesome! Someone accidently broke my MacBook so I was introduced to Solex Micro to get it fixed. Instead, I left with an iBook G4 that came with all the applications I needed (Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Excel, etc.). I paid $ 235 for it and I got a receipt and warranty on it for a couple weeks. I took it back in today since it didn’t turn on. He fixed my keyboard and gave me suggestions on how to make more memory all for free. Mohamad is a super nice guy and does his work straight out of his home. This means I don’t have to find parking, fight crowds or people or make an appointment like I would normally have to at the Apple store’s genius bar. He’s convenient and welcoming. I go to him whenever I have a computer issue and you should too :)

Mohamed was a very nice, well spoken, and knowledgeable man. It was a pleasure coming and talking to someone that understands technology like I do. Even though he runs his business out of his house, it’s in a nice neighborhood and it’s a very professional office. You can tell he is very worldly as he speaks not only English, but also Arabic and Spanish quite well.
I would recommend Solex to anyone that needs Apple accessories but doesn’t want to pay Apple prices. Thanks again Mohamed. I look forward to working with you again.

I’m a fix-​it-​myself kind of guy, but one repair that scares me enough to use a professional is my computer. I love my iBooks, I don’t want to mess them up, and I know enough to know I don’t know enough to wrench on them myself.
I originally found Mohammed from Solex Micro on Craig’s List, and I have heard ads for Solex Micro on 1170AM, on a Saturday night gearhead show called the Garage Hour.
Mohammed is a long-​time Apple guy who is adept with Mac hardware and software, and he has a pretty big selection of all the bits and parts that can keep a Mac up and running. Yes, it appears he runs his business out of his house, but San Diego ain’t a cheap place to operate, so who can blame him?
I’ve bought batteries for my iBooks (used — he has lots of good used parts which suit my used Macs just fine), and Mohammed has replaced parts for me like the laptop screen, quickly and inexpensively. He’s also done some software work for me.
Shop around — I always do — and you’ll find Solex is accessible, inexpensive (as inexpensive as Mac stuff can be, which is never too cheap), and Mohammed knows his stuff. He’s also a really interesting guy, so take a few minutes to get to know him.

I have nothing but good words for Solex Micro. Mr. Hammad’s very honest and he knows all about Macs. I brought in an old g4 that had a problems with the screen that I thought I could salvage. He told me straight up that it wasn’t worth repairing, and the repairs alone would cost twice as much as i had paid for the computer. So just when I was about to toss the thing, Mr. Hammad offered to buy the computer off me. Great business! Highly recommend! I will definitely come back to Mr. Hammad for my Mac purchases. Seriously one of the nicest guys that I have met!!! Ok, it’s a little weird because the actual place you go to is a house and he works in one of the rooms there I guess. But he was very professional and helpful! I needed a charger for my macbook and I got it for around $ 50. He was very informational and gave tips as to how you can take care of your things better. He offered to take a general look over my computer (I didn’t have it with me though) at no cost just to let me know if I need any updates or such.
Not only that, I was about to just pay and walk out of there, but then he asked me if I would like to check to see if it even works. haha boy i felt pretty stupid on that part haha but it was so nice of him to even make sure that I knew it worked! Who does that?! haha Seriously, if I have ANY issues with my computer, screw computer repair stores or even the mac stores though they’ve helped me before too but I like that i’m going to a local place for it! :)
