if you are a big fan of spicy food, you definitly need to try the place. my wife and i used to go to china chef in mira mesa for szechuan foods. after china chef closed, we tried several szechuan restaurants in convoy but we still prefer china chef. i walked into this restaurant by accident few days ago. before getting inside, i saw a post of new owner/new menu on the window. once i walked in, i recognized that the cashier is the lady who used to work for china chef. she welcomed me friendly and strongly recommanded me to try new menus. omg, exactly the same flavors as china chef. my stomach is finally satisfied. i cannt wait to go back again.

Worst food ever! We ordered Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef and Garlic Chicken. It was all bad. Most of it went into the trash. This is also the only Chinese restaurant that I have been to that steamed rice doesn’t come with the entrees. It needs to be ordered and of course they charge for it. I am never eating here again.

I wish I could review the food, but I never got that far. I love Chinese food and I was sick recently and didn’t want to leave the house. As fate would have it, a menu was left in my door! I called to order for delivery and first I was placed on «hold», which was just the woman putting the phone down, for 7 minutes while she took what sounded like 3 or 4 other orders. Then I tried to order their Dragon Value Pack I. It seemed safe as it is a set combo and she was definitely having a hard time understanding me and I couldn’t understand most of what she was saying. It took another 5 minutes, at least, of back and forth before I worked out that the menu they sent out was incorrect and one of the items listed was not actually included. Not the wrong item, just one less item included, so a little less«value» in this value pack. Already exhausted at this point, I’m kicking myself for not having cash as I know the card number exchange is going to be like pulling teeth. And it was… I was not surprised when she asked for my phone number, but I was when she asked me to text my address to her cell. Now I needed her to wait while I tried to find a pen. Finished and off the phone I thought I was good to go and just had to wait for my yummy food to arrive… Not so. She calls back 5 minutes later saying my card didn’t work. She reads back the number and no surprise it was wrong, so I give it to her again. Again she says it doesn’t work. I ask her to read me back what she had and again the number was wrong. She asked me for another card and I asked if I could text her the number like I had my address, she just kept asking for another card. Finally, I gave up and cancelled my order. Guess I’m getting pizza! *Update– Food showed up at my door and I told the gentleman that I canceled the order over the phone, did not have cash and was told my card didn’t work, so I could not pay him for the food. He nodded his head, mumbled something I couldn’t understand, and did some hand motions. After sending him on his way I decided to check my bank, SURPRISE, my card did work! Called them back, let them know they needed to refund my card. Of course now she doesn’t seem to understand anything at all that I’m saying and I certainly could not make sense of what she was trying to say. So where I thought they brought me for I hadn’t paid for, now I have paid for food I don’t have… Will update once I find out how this refund goes.

Under new ownership-definitely miss the old Dragon! Not sure if it was due to the sprinkler flood they had, but Dragon is under new ownership and it’s simply not the same. I have been a patron of this restaurant since 2001 and have always continued to come back because the combo plate was a great deal and the food was good! My go to was a small container of beef broccoli and veggies and I would only be charged $ 4. Went to get the same last week and the prices had all increased, the menu had changed, and I had to pay $ 10 for a styrofoam container of(albeit fresh) beef broccoli. I’m sure the new owners will offer a lot of great items… but I’ll miss my convenient and quick Chinese option.

I have gone here many times before & it has always been pretty good, however there seems to be new ownership & this place is definitely not as good. The woman who answered the phone barely spoke English, so it was difficult to place our pick up order. We ordered the shrimp in lobster sauce as one of the dishes & we were very disappointed. It was very runny & had very little flavor. We also ordered the beef with garlic sauce. This dish was slightly better, but the beef had little taste. There was very little seasoning. The best part of the dinner was the wor won-ton soup. The total $ spent was $ 30.00, so to say the least we will not be going back for a while. It is time to look for a new Chinese restaurant in Penasquitos, any suggestions?

Came in for lunch at around 2pm. The food containers were empty, and the fried rice looked like it was sitting for at least a few hours. Ordered two item plate with fried rice, orange chicken, and beef and broccoli. Server scoops fried rice on the plate and says that they will make the entrees fresh. Cool. Get the food fast enough. Entrees were good but fried rice was hard. I should have walked out when I saw that poor rice laying under those heat lamps. Coke was off too. Mentioned the Coke and all she said was«sorry.» I know, I should have known better. Should have walked out when I saw that rice. Oh well.

As a Chinese, who have lived in US for four years, this is THE best chinese restaurant in this area. I know they don’t have fancy decoration to make you feel Great to eat inside, but their food is really awesome!

Incredibly oily Chinese food that does not taste fresh. The chow mein and fried rice taste like they were made a week ago and reheated. Veggies look incredibly shiny because they were obviously soaked in oil. Would not eat here again. I feel bad for this review since it’s obviously a family-run place, but you gotta step up your game, people. Panda Express tastes better and a heck of a lot healthier. I gave two instead of one star since at least the service was snappy(although this was probably because I was the only one in the restaurant).

Love this place. I usually get the sweet & pungent shrimp, double pan fried noodles, and war wonton soup. Family owned restaurant. Owner is very nice. Food is fresh and fast.

The lady at the counter was very sweet, the food was alright– definitely not somewhere I’d eat again. I got the beef and broccoli, the beef was not all the way cooked and also I got almost all broccoli and no meat. Very dissapointed and will not be coming back here.

This is the best Chinese fast take-out place in the area… to be honest, I think it’s the only one. Surprisingly, I enjoyed my chow mein and my garlic chicken. It was as expected: greasy and salty(everything I would want in a fast food Chinese take-out meal). The service was quick and the staff was very nice. I stopped by for lunch and the lady behind the counter said that if they didn’t have what I wanted already made behind the case, they will make it fresh for me. I chose something they already had out because I didn’t really want to wait. For under $ 6, I got a one item combo with chow mein and garlic chicken and it was plenty of food for lunch. I highly recommend you stop by and try for yourself. If you’re craving something deliciously bad for you, then this is the place! I will most definitely be coming back!

Food is really fresh. This is your pick and choose combo entrée type place. Came in and got the Orange Chicken and Eggplant tofu. Both were very good. Orange chicken was not bland and had lots of flavor, also did not have orange rinds that some places have. which i dont like. They had no problem with cooking up a fresh batch of eggplant tofu since there was none left. Cooked up quick and tasted awesome! Service– very friendly, and welcoming. I will visit here again.

I would give this place 5 stars but sometimes they are not consistent. But most of the time the food is great! The customer service is wonderful, they are so nice. It’s a very clean place. It’s our go to place when we are craving chinese.

Visiting family and craving some Chinese food. This place was close to their house. And they had TONS of choices and they were really good. I’m picky about my Chinese food… Because I’m from San Gabriel, the Chinese food capitol of the US… But this place was pretty good and actually made by Chinese people! I love it! FOOD: Tofu Pork with Chinese Black Bean Garlic Sauce — wow. That was good. I love tofu. It’s pretty good. Orange Chicken: I’m honestly not a Orange Chicken girl because I never like the tangy sauce, but this sauce was really sweet and not so tangy. They told me they made it themselves. Whaaa… Hot Chinese Sweet Chili — this was hot. I love it. It reminded me of Thai spices and then I learned the chef makes his own chili sauce using peppers from Thailand and China!!! Whaaaa… I asked for more sauce and it was amazing. Ask for his chilli sauce. Service– very nice. Very quick. They were really friendly! Ambiance: very clean and fancy for fast food and sit down. It’s really well decorated! Total sit down and relax with friends. Parking: tons, near home depot Price: fast, cheap, and easy… And really good.

1 star for having friendly people. Another star for being a local shop. And one more star for food that’s slightly better than Panda Express, though unfortunately that’s not saying much. I’m sorry to say I was disappointed. First of all, some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had has come from small independent establishments like this. Second of all, I detest Panda Express. It’s one of the most disgusting, overly salted, diarrhea-inducing fast food restaurants I’ve ever been to. The fact that Dragon’s food tastes almost identical to Panda is what makes this a major bummer. To their credit it’s not as salted which I appreciate but it tastes like fast food. It’s just not as good as it should or could be. It was all just okay. The orange chicken, the rice, the beef. Just alright. I wouldn’t mind coming here every so often if I’m in the mood for Chinese as I always want to support a local business, but I feel like they’re missing out on a huge opportunity by not changing around their recipes a little bit. Plus Panda is right down the street. Not sure how long they can stay in business with such a similar product.

I concur with the previous posts about the friendly staff; however, the food quality has gone down since I first ate there in 2009. Last night I ordered sweet and sour chicken and the orange chicken for my house full of kids. It’s been awhile since I had ordered food from Dragon and upon arriving home with the take out, I found that they now have replaced the normal chicken breast with dark meat. I called the restaurant and they were nice about making a new order of the sweet and sour chicken for me with white meat. I should have looked at my order before leaving the restaurant again. Once I got home, I found the 64 ounce container to contain slivers of chicken breast that may have equaled one chicken breast. The rest was vegetables. I am not happy about spending $ 16.50 for a container consisting of just veggies! That doesn’t feed teenage boys. I will never order from this restaurant again. The $ 37 I spent last night was a total waste of money. The orange chicken was thrown out and the sweet and sour chicken was a complete disappointment.

The people here are so nice. They get 5 stars on customer service and care. Their food on the other hand is just meh. I ordered the house special fried rice — extra extra extra spicy. They made it spicy but the chilli oil was not drained at all and had all pooled at the bottom of the take out container making it a soggy mess. The beef tasted a little odd and the chicken was bland. The shrimp was good but there were only 1 ½ pieces. So I will go back becuase it is convenient but not becuase it is tasty.

I wanted to like this place so much more because the owner is so nice. It’s basically Americanized Chinese fast food in a nicer looking interior than you’d expect. I went for the Udon, an egg roll and an iced tea. Takes them awhile because I don’t think anyone orders Udon. I jump into the egg roll first. Horrible. Cold, soggy and way too greasy. I tried to power through it with mustard but that was watered down. The Udon was disappointing. Everything comes in styrofoam so you get a big quart sized soup with a tiny styrofoam bowl and the tiniest plastic spoon to eat with. The soup was bland and the chicken and noodles were under cooked. Thank fully they had sriracha. Stick with the standard stuff here and you’ll have a much better experience. I was here at prime time lunch time and only a small family was there. I’m hoping they do a lot of dinner take out business. I really wanted to like it because I love family run places, but my experience was just bad.
