Sometimes good things come in small packages. This small package is easy to miss. My mom and I stumbled upon this mini museum while shopping in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park yesterday. It can be accessed through one of the stores in convoluted Old Town Market; look for the«MUSEUM» signs with arrows. The museum consists of a viewing area(let’s not kid ourselves; the«viewing area» is a bench and a flat screen TV) for a short educational film about Father Ubach and St. Anthony’s Indian School as well as a display of several dozen artifacts from the school. A good bit of information squeezed into a small space! I generally like museums but will admit that they tend to bore me if they’re not user-friendly or aesthetically pleasing. That being said, I enjoyed learning about Father Ubach(«The Last of the Padres») and especially liked looking at all the neat unearthed artifacts from the indian school, each of which had its own descriptive paragraph. Check out this little nook of a museum when you’re in Old Town!
