History

Established in 1984.

Gary De Forest is a native to San Diego and started his practice in 1984.

He has owned and operated San Diego Chriopractic and Sports/​De Forest Chiropractic and Sports since 1990. The business was built on word of mouth and very little advertising. Dr. De Forest is a feature columnist for San Diego OffRoad Magazine on the subject of Health Tips.

No big pressure on treatment plans, pay as you go, see how you respond. As a San Diego native I have been serving San Diego for over 30 years. X-​Rays are only taken when absolutely needed where many Chiropractors take X-​Rays of everything. I strive to provide the best service and results at the lowest price. We cater to the local OFF-​Road and motocross folks here in San Diego. I treat auto and work injuries and take most group insurance that cover Chiropractic care.

I’m in construction and was referred to Dr D. years ago through a friend. I’ve done a few things over the years to cause me back pain and each time Gary has completely fixed me up in 1 or 2 visits. No extended drag on type of deal, just fix me up and get me back to work! Thanks Dr D

What can I say that others haven’t said already. Dr. Deforest is amazing! I have gone to him for over 5 years and he has helped me with my chronic headaches and neck pain. He is friendly and you can just see and feel the passion he has for his job. I always feel like he is listening to me and has great concern for my questions/​concerns and how I am feeling. Dr. Deforest is also very flexible with his schedule and hands down has the best pricing for his services. Lastly, I love that he doesn’t try to make you get unneccessary treatments or packages. I would recommend him to everyone!

Been going to Moto Doc for over 20 years. Gary has helped myself numerous times as well as friends and family. He «rebuilt» my knee in 2001 and my shoulder in 2003. He uses Chiropractic along with muscle stimulation and other modalities. Is it any wonder he has so many years in business? Highly recommended.

Dr. De Forest is a 6 star class chiropractor and business. I’ve gone to him for 20 years and he always nails the problem. I’ve tried other chiropractors over the years that took my insurance and were in my neighborhood and they tend to over charge and under treat. At 46 years I can still ride motocross bikes work heavy construction and take 0 pharmaceuticals thanks to this chiropractor.

I fell off the hardword stairs and hurt my spine (L1 and L5) over a year ago. I was seeing physical therapist 3 times /​week for several months, but my back got worse despite I was doing all the exercise that the therapist ask. I had hard time driving, sitting, walking. Finally, my co-​worker refer me to the Dr. De Forest. Unlike other chiropractors, he didn’t force me to re-​take x-​rays, purchase an expensive package or force me to do anything I didn’t want to. He is always very accomadating and flexible in his schedule. For someone who travels and work so much, he is willing to see me with moment of notice. After seeing him for several months, my back was finally doing a lot better at least I can do normal daily activities again. I am still going in to see him in a monthly /​bi-​monthly basis for maintenance.

I’ve been seeing Dr D for 4 years. I had severe wrist issues and couldn’t hold an 8 lb dog without shooting pain. He didn’t try to over sell me and gave me realistic expectations. He cured me! Love this guy!

Gary does an amazing job helping people who suffer from pain from old injuries. I wrestled in high school and college and have used the Doc for adjustments in the past. I witnessed him do his magic at clinics that make his clients pain free. I watch them get off the table with disbelief, and amazement about the way they now feel. Nobody deserves to go through life with discomfort and pain, do yourself a favor and
call Doctor D.

Gary is fabulous chiropractor. He treated me with e-​stim and heat, and then a great adjustment, making my back feel so much better. What I really liked is that he did not insist on xrays because I did not have a new injury. I’ve gone in several times since just for maintenance. I highly recommend him!

Love Dr D, he is awesome. I see him about every month or so for a tune up and any other issues that have come up in between. I have been seeing him for about 3 years now and he is a great chiropractor. He also uses a roller table and back massager whenever needed– the roller table is my favorite! I have sent many friends, family, and coworkers in too, all with the same results!
I saw him today because my shoulder was bothering me after a workout, he performed ultrasound on my minor bicep tendinitis and then adjusted it and it is already feeling better!
If you need an honest, straightforward, and all around great chiropractor. Dr. D is the one!

I was originally referred to Dr. De Forest for treatment of my migraines, I thought «what can a chiropractor do to help me with migraines?» Since I had tried almost everything and nothing had worked I decided to give it a shot.
After 5 sessions I was free from migraines but also noticed the nagging back pain in the morning was gone, I go to him regularly for «maintenance sessions» and I have referred at least 30 people to him and all of them have called to thank me after wards.
I realize not every chiropractor is good, just like not every mechanic or every chef is good, but Gary is the best.

Dr. De Forest is the awesome! I recommend his services to anyone that needs an adjustment! I should know — it took me a while to find a good chiropractor to fix a horrendous back pain i had a few years ago. I went to at least 5 other chiropractors, none of which had the strength and experience needed to adjust my back.
For men, I think this can be a significant issue with chiroparactors — they have to be STRONG enough to adjust your back, but also have the quickness and experience to do it safely and with confidence. Dr. De Forest has it all.
I have used his services for the last 7 years and recommended at least 4 of my best friends to go there when they had back pain. He doesn’t put you through the chiropractor BS and mumbo jumbo that you will occassionally find with other chiro’s — he’s straight to the point, courteous, and professional.

I have had lower back problems for years to a point where I couldn’t even get dressed for work in the morning, walk down the stairs, or get into my car. Just the basic things made my back feel MISERABLE. It was really severe pain where I just resigned myself to thinking one day, like my parents I would have to have surgery.
I never believed in chiropractics before but I definitely do now because of Dr. DeForest. I would get adjusted 2 times a week for a few months and I followed his instructions. Now, my back is in such great shape! He loosened everything up so now if I feel the pain coming on all I have to do is flex and I can crack it myself and the pain is gone INSTANTLY! Without his help I would still be in lots of pain and maybe on my way to surgery. He even recommended that I see the acupuncturist in the office as well and between the two of them my back hasn’t felt this great in YEARS! I’m so grateful! I also would get headaches from time to time and getting my neck adjusted by hime always got rid of it.
On top of that he is very affordable and does everything he can to work with you and get you out of pain. You just need to get in a few times a week and you will not regret it!

saw him FEB-​JUN 2011 due to multiple car accidents– whip lash is gone and full ROM is back

Dr. De Forest has been my only chiropractor — I wasn’t a believer until I went to see him over 8 years ago with a problem neck — I could barely turn my head! He fixed me up in just a few visits!
I believe he is committed to preventative health and body awareness — which is so important to me. I think I’m finally convinced that I need to see him throughout the year vs. just when something is hurt.
I saw him yesterday after enduring 2 – 3 weeks of ongoing neck/​shoulder pain, and I felt better immediately. All I could think was «why didn’t I get in here sooner?!»
Either way — he’s the man, and he’ll set you straight again!

Dr Deforest has been my chiropractor for over 20 years. I was referred to him by a coworker after a work injury, and am still thankful she steered me his way.
He does try to convince me to come in for periodic tune-​ups, and I stubbornly only show up at his door every couple of years when I’ve done something to myself again and can barely function!
His office staff is great at handing insurance and billing issues, and I always feel like I’ve been well handled top to bottom when I go there.
I can’t speak highly enough of him, and recommend him with the utmost confidence.

My father and I have been patients of Dr. D’s for a couple of years now. Dr. D is always professional and courteous. I am usually very frighted by any type of doctor (yes, even the optometrist!) but Dr. D is really nice and very quick!
I am covered by insurance, but my dad is not. Dr. D’s rates are VERY reasonable for those of you who do not have insurance. With this economy, who knows how long I will have mine…
Dr. D is highly recommended by me and my family!

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Deforest, as needed, for the last 3 years. I originally went to him with a back strain. He did a great job treating that injury and was very thorough in his evaluation prior to treatment. He also has in office x-​ray equipment. I continue to go for tune-​ups every month or so. I’ve always enjoyed Dr. D’s personality, which I’ve never found to be «shady» or «creepy» as Christian B stated.
Christian B. should have probably got clearance from the other motorist’s insurance before seeing any chiropractor’s help. I have insurance that only requires me to pay a $ 10 co-​pay, so that is not an issue for me. Dr. D has never tried to over schedule me. He treated me more regularily at the beginning of treatment and then less frequently as my condition improved. I’ve been to several other chiropractors in the past and have found Dr. D to be the most effective. If you’re in the Old Town area give him a try.
