Established in 2000.

Established in 2000, Gayles Rum Cakes started in a home kitchen. After perfecting the process and ingredients, I decided I had a product worth sharing with the world. Fourteen years later, we continue to make the same rum cake with real ingredients.

I started baking rum cakes in 1987 part time. I baked for family and friends while working in an escrow career that spanded 34 years. After retiring from escrow in 2010, I decided to share by knoledge of baking with the world full time.

Bought a chocolate rum cake from Ms. Gayle today and it was sooo delicious! So moist and buttery it melted in my mouth I’m going to the Euclid farmers market on Wednesday to get another chocolate and a few of the butter and lemon!

This morning, I had one of Gayle’s famous coconut and rum cakes with my coffee at work and it was more delicious than I anticipated! I say, more than anticipated, because Gayle was generous enough to have me sample her options at the SouthEast SD Farmers Market. She had butter, coconut, lemon, and chocolate. I am definitely goin back next week for my Lemon Rum Cake, I bought the coconut because she said she wouldn’t have the coconut next week. She’s the real deal!

Gail’s secret recipe is simply the best i’ve ever tasted. It is very hard to find rum cake in San diego and when I tried Gayle’s cakes, i immediately knew i found the perfect rum cake. She is a lovely lady as well. Her customer service is excellent. She is helping me with a large, special order.

The best rum cakes ever!!! Gayle describes her process right down to the number of turns in the batter. Each cake is expertly done and melts in your mouth. She is a local vendor in my community and also has an active role in the betterment of southeast San Diego. Buying her cakes also supports the creation of social capital.

Delish! Went to the Lemon Zest and Garlic Fest and had a savory sample that persuaded me to drop some cash on cake to go. Loved all the flavors, especially the savory Lemon and decadent chocolate. The rum was present but not overwhelming. Plus, Gayle was sweet too!

5 stars for a Rum Cake? Really? One bite, and you are going to be floored. The flavors hit your tongue in waves — just absolutely AMAZING. Like that scene in Ratatouille where the critic takes a bite and suddenly infused with youthful memories of glee! A true artist!

These are the best Rum cakes ever ran by the best lady ever! «Gayle» I called Gayle a week before my daughters birthday and she was so willing to accommodate. My daughter and the rest of the family were so pleased of course once more with the delicious pineapple Rum Cake. These cakes are perfect for any occasion or anytime for dessert after a great meal!

Oh My, everyone is right ! These are the best rum cakes ever ! They melt in your mouth! I bought one from the Farmer’s Market on J Street in San Diego today, Coconut since the chocolate had already sold out when we got there! Next week I will be back to buy more. Fabulous !

The best rum cake I have ever tasted. The delicate rum essence enhances but does not overpower the flavor of the cake. That’s what makes Gayle’s Rum Cakes special. I had the lemon cake and the chocolate cake with nuts at the Taste of 4 Corners event. I’ll definitely be back for the coconut and butter cakes. Totally yummy!!!

Had the pleasure of meeting Gayle at the City Heights farmers market this morning. She pulled us in with her charm and humor, and soon was offering sample after sample of her rum cakes. We tried three different flavors– all delicious– before deciding to take home the lemon loaf. YUM. Needless to say, it’s already gone :)

That Butter Rum cake though…
My eyes are rolling to the back of my head just thinking about it.
I’m contemplating buying a tent and just posting up every Saturday night so I can try all the flavors she offers before she sells out.
Gayle you bake a paradise of cakes for all sweet lovers like myself.
I might be even have to sign up for AA eafter how many I plan on consuming.
You’ve been warned.
Now its not just the Butter Rum. It’s the Lemon Rum as well. She grows the lemons on her own trees. Amazing.
I’ll be back for the Coconut, Pineapple, Chocolate and maybe even go crazy and get one that’s topped with nuts!
