I brought my wife’s Land Rover in to have fuel pump evaluated for repair or replacement. I’m handy and opened up the fuel pump compartment and could see fuel on top. So, I knew it needed to be replaced or fixed. I have had great experiences with Ismail before. Unfortunately, «Daniel» who says he is Ismail’s brother was in charge. So, I told him I wanted to see if he could fix fuel pump or give me a quote. $ 60 for evaluation. I get a call and told that it needs a new fuel pump for $ 800 dollars! I said that is way to much. Daniel says there are 2 different fuel pumps and in order to know which one I have he had to remove. So, $ 100 labor. I get «good news» my fuel pump is cheaper version for $ 495. I asked if it was a Bosch brand. Yup, it is. I see one online for from Parts Geeks for $ 315. I pick my wife’s car and told Daniel I shouldn’t have to pay $ 160. You are mechanics and should know which fuel pump my car needs. I did some research to make sure I purchased right fuel pump. I learned that the top is totally different on 2 fuel pumps and I was duped by Daniel. Avoid using this shop if Ismail is not in charge. Daniel is crooked.

I phoned for an appointment, printed the alignment coupon, and rest was easy. General Auto Repair is easy to find, It is kiddy-​corner from new High Rise, Pinnacle on the Park. I walked to park, read my book in Beautiful Downtown San Diego sunshine,… and car was fixed, back on my way,.and steering was straight. So I am a happy customer. All promises were kept, service was on time, friendly and I left satisfied… Andy

Did a great job on my jeep where other mechanics had failed. Nice to know that there is an honest mechanic out there that comes with a guarantee in writing!

I love coming to General Auto. Ismael and his staff are the best! I’m always in a hurry and they can always get me in and out quickly so I don’t have to waste a bunch of time sitting around. They do a great job at a fair price.

I needed brakes badly. I saw the coupon got the brakes for the front. Showed me my rear brake wear. Came back a month later (had to raise the money). Got them fixed. Ismael does a great job. And shorter guy in the back that does the brakes does a great job too. If they put out a coupon for electrical work, tune ups and oil changes I’ll be back.

I hardly ever write bad reviews, because I don’t want to spread negativity, I would like to be a good person and I totally understand that no one is perfect. However, in this case I had to make an exception, because I don’t want anybody to be taken advantage of at this shop.
I found a coupon online for a $ 45 all-​wheel alignment. I called them to make sure it was still valid and told them about the make and model of my car. The guy seemed nice on the phone. He said yes, so I decided to go there and get it done.
As soon as I arrived, I was told to wait for a few minutes, but I was actually waiting for more than half an hour. I then made sure again that it was going to be an all-​wheel alignment and signed the paperwork. Later I noticed on the receipt that it’s a «front end alignment», but I decided to wait and see what happens.
The guy took my car for a test drive, but he was driving so fast that something underneath my car (probably a lower part of my bumper) scratched against the road when he was making a sharp turn. Then the guy got my car lifted and told me that he couldn’t do the alignment, because my tires and my shocks were bad. He gave a $ 1879.90 quote and told me that he could do the alignment after I got all that stuff fixed. I was trying to ask him a few questions about the condition of my car, but all he told me was «shocks give you stability».
I was under impression that I would not have to pay anything, because the service I requested wasn’t provided, but the guy still charged me the $ 45. I asked him if he could charge me less, but he refused. The reason why I’m so unhappy is because he could have told me that he couldn’t do the alignment in the first place and not charge me. Or he could have let me know that there was a possibility that he wouldn’t be able to do it, but I would have to pay regardless of whether he does it or not. Having dealt with many different people, I totally felt like it was one of those cases where you shouldn’t charge your customer.
The fact is that I didn’t get any value for my money. Not only I wasted money and my time, but the guy also totally spoiled my mood for the whole day. My car runs perfectly fine, my tires were decent and I’m not even sure what he told me was correct. Obviously, I will never go there again and I encourage everyone to look for a better place. I don’t even know why I’m giving them 2 stars…

I went in on a coupon from the Reader. Really great service and a great price. I was in and out.

Honest and reasonable.

I have been using this guys for my car oil and oil filter change every 3 month for last 4 years. I always bring my own oil and a filter, so they do labor only and charge fair price for it — $ 12.50.
Service is usually fast and reliable, however sometimes they can forget to call and inform you that everything is done.
