We were pleasantly surprised by the tasty food at this restaurant. The food, pricing and service were all good. We will definitely return!

I think this is the third time I’ve eaten here, and the first time I’ve seen it packed! Very happy to see that, hopefully they’ll stay open for a long time. As always the staff was smiling, helpful, and friendly. The absolute only reason I didn’t give them a 5 was because the main courses were served so far in advance of the rice. A big thumbs up from my family and I. Thanks! Dana K.

Food is super good and flavorful here, we’ve ordered to go and have eaten here several times. Portions are huge! Two can easily eat from two plates, but we always order way more than just two plates, food is just that good here, plenty of left overs for the following meal. I highly recommend the egg drop soup, and golden house chow mein, it’s yummy. My husband really likes the salt and pepper wings here.

Their lunch special is the best. A full meal for less than $ 7. The lunch menu includes various items, soup, rice, and fried wonton crisps for appetizers. Service is quick and friendly. The owner is really nice and recognizes your face if youre a regular.

What can I say… I love this place! Five stars for service Five stars for the food Five stars for the price Five stars for the location Five stars for the atmosphere There you have it; the staff are always friendly and helpful no matter how busy they are. The only place that I can know that you get acknowledge in second and stayed in minutes(no matter how busy they are). The food is delicious, we have not liked anything we has ordered. The price is very reasonable. The location is easy to get to. Of course you will have to travel down South Bay almost to Mexico but the freeway is nearby. In and out in minutes. This place is great for the family, very cool. There you have it!

After a long day of shopping at the outlet stores near the border, my friend and I were looking for a spot to grab some food. Most of the nearby places were rated very poorly or were a very casual order at the counter /take out kind of spot. We were looking for a place we could sit down and relax a little bit, chat, and eat before heading home and we were starving. Being so close to the border we initially were thinking Mexican, but when I fired up the Unilocal app and put in a few of our parameters this spot kept coming up. I have been generally disappointed with the Chinese food in the San Diego apart from a few exceptions so when I saw how well rated this spot was I was intrigued. I pitched the idea to my friend and she was game so we took the short drive from the outlets to Golden House. The restaurant is in a shopping center situated behind a gas station, but it was pretty easy to find and when we got there it was pretty busy. We were greeted and seated quickly. We took a little while to peruse the menu and decide, but the staff was patient with us and kept checking in. While we were there we noticed a few local police and EMT stop by and get food or takeout and it seemed like some of their other takeout business and in house dining patrons were regulars there. All good signs! This is what we had: fried pork wontons — these were ok. We were both picturing something else in our heads. Something with more meat in the wonton, and that is not what this dish has, but the taste of meat inside was good. Next time we will probably try the potstickers. The BBQ Pork slices — good. The meat was pretty flavorful and moist. I would order it again. The Chow Mein(lomein) with beef — also good. I would get this again. We also ordered a Chicken dish that was good but I forget which one it was so its not much help. My friends last experience with San Diego Chinese food had been horrific so she was a little weary. We were both happily surprised. I would suggest coming back here if I am nearby… Perhaps next time we are at the outlets.

The manager is always there — very friendly and makes everyone feel welcome. Im hooked on the salt & pepper chicken wings because they are truly the best and the chicken with garlic sauce is always a crowd favorite. You gotta try them … you won’t be disappointed !

Came here with my friend and her parents after being in Mexico most of the day. I have to say their salt n pepper chicken wings are better than National City. Yup, I said it. I actually like Golden Chopsticks more than Royal Mandarin, but this place tops the other two places. Pork fried rice, can’t go wrong with that, they do it good here. The fish with black bean sauce is very good, the wor won ton soup is awesome too. If you’re in the South Bay, try this place out.

Been coming here for years and have yet to be disappointed. Everyone knows about the salt and pepper chicken wings they’re the best around. Great portions and you can always take the leftovers home. The owners are very friendly and always go table to table greeting customers. Great food, great service you can’t go wrong!

This is seriously the best Chinese food I have ever had in my life, and I have seriously explore all San Diego, it was freshly made the portions are so large and it’s at a great price! I’ve never had Kung Pao Chicken, Shrimp, and Beef all in one plate!!! The service is amazingly fast! We got our plates right away! It was the best I will be coming back here soon for sure!!!

I can see why people«rave» or highly recommend this place. Despite the food isn’t really Chinese, it offers more options than places like P.F. Chiang’s or Panda Express. You’d think the prices are so low that your food portions will end up coming out to be small. Nope. It’s huge. I made the mistake of ordering individual portions. You should really bring friends and families to this place, if you’re really hungry and in the mood for decent quality Chinese food. The service here is quite attentive and they’re on top of things. They do not participate in much of a conversation. They’re all about business — a business that they want to be efficient in. I love drinking tea, but their tea is like the traditional medicinal Chinese herbal tea, which smells kind of bad and earthy & the taste — well… just get water with lemon. I’ve been here twice and I came to a conclusion that I can see why people go after their pepper chicken, honey walnut shrimp, pineapple chicken, & fried rice. These are the few items I’ve actually liked that gets bonus stars on both flavor and texture. For me, I don’t judge the food with my eyes. I judge them by my tongue. By the way, yes, lunch specials are stupidly awesome. Extremely inexpensive and beats Panda Express(in my opinion).

Disappointing! I noticed my lunch order of Chicken Noodles with Fried rice had 4 small slices of Chicken, so when I asked the server about it, he goes into the kitchen then returns to tell me the lunch specially includes 4 pieces of chicken. So I decided to order more chicken, «$ 1.00 extra» and I told him to throw in $ 1.00 extra in BBQ Pork. what they brought me was an insult. I will never return!

Let me start this review by saying that Golden House is over 30 minutes from my house without traffic. That makes for a long ride for Chinese Food but let me tell you, it’s worth it. And to think I would have never even known that this place existed until a friend(retired cop) told me about it. She told me about these Salt and Pepper Wings that were so damn good. My first thought was, how good can Salt and Pepper Wings be? I soon found out when I took my first trip there. I ordered the Wings and OMG, they were like nothing I had ever eaten. The perfect blend of crispy and juicy, salty and spicy, so hot and yummy. My husband who doesn’t eat wings even felt compelled to try one when he saw me eating and raving about them. He agreed with me and said they were pretty damn good. Here’s the other great part about Golden House… don’t just come for the Salt and Pepper Wings. I have had the BBQ Pork which is delicious. The BBQ Pork Chow Mein is probably one of the best Chow Meins I’ve eaten in San Diego. I have had the Sweet and Sour Shrimp and Chicken, Won Tons, Potstickers, Hot and Sour Soup, Garlic Shrimp, Fried Rice, and Pineapple Chicken. All good and not all on the same trip. :) That’s how many times I’ve made the trek down for awesome Chinese Food. Wish it was closer to my house but then again it probably wouldn’t be a good idea if you know what I mean. Service is mostly good but can be a little spotty when they are really busy but they try. Lots of take out orders going on here which I’m envious of. Restaurant seems pretty clean for the most part. Oh and the lunch specials are $ 5.80 and they come with soup, rice, and the many choices of Beef, Pork, Chicken, and Shrimp dishes. What a deal! Can’t beat those prices anywhere. Overall, a great Chinese Restaurant that is definitely worth the drive.

After my nephew’s high school graduation my family & I met here for dinner. The staff was very accommodating & gathered several tables for us to sit together. The place is not big but was very inviting, clean & cozy. We ordered several dishes for all to share & most of the dishes were available with Tofu which was great since 5 out of 10 in our party are Vegetarian. The Kung Pao chicken and Honey Walnut Shrimp were a hit. The Orange Chicken & Salt & Pepper Chicken Strips were good except they were coated in very thick batter. The tofu dishes were excellent, it’s great that this option is available. I will definitely dine here again, overall the food is very good & the prices are great.

This place is so delicious and the food quality is great. The orange chicken is what I get all the time. The chicken pieces are lean chicken pieces and very delicious you can taste the good quality.

Went here for a late lunch. Had Mongolian Beef with egg drop soup. Delicious every time we are here. Service was quick by the ladies here. We will be back. Owner & waitresses already know us. I highly recommend this place for lunch. Lunch specials are between 11 am to 3 pm.
