History

Established in 2002.

Long story short… My wife and I used to walk by this old liquor store everyday on our way to coffee at Santos. One day I heard it was for sale. I thought «why wouldn’t I do that.» so I pitched my ideas to a friend with 40 years of store experieince, now my mentor. His intentions were to talk me out of it, but after hereing my ideas, he decided to help me open it. I quit my job as a teacher and with the help of my incredible architect wife, my mentor, my community, my home equity, and one solid month of unbeleavable cleaning and setting up, I opened up Grant’s Marketplace. I started as just a store. I then quickly added the coffee and then the deli about a year later. The business is constantly evolving thanks to great suggestions from my community. So who knows what great new items, foods, or services we’ll offer in the future. But one things for sure, we will always be evolving!

Business Owner

I am a born and raised San Diegan. I am big on locally owned businesses. I’m down for my community, but love other communities flavors, especially found at it’s locally owned businesses. Though i do have a very public face with the store, i do consider myself a private person. My focus is my wife, but a i do also enjoy spanish classical guitar, hardscaping with cobble stones, bricks, etc… and i love my business.
