H&R Block

Never coming back here… we had an appt with Anita. but she was tied up with a hairy appt. so they shifted us to Patricia who they suggested was very good. well let me just say the entire time I had to correct the info she kept incorrectly entering on the computer. She didn’t seem thorough. and she seemed very aloof… The worst part was having to pay $ 300 for a service that I could’ve done myself on Turbo Tax for an ¹⁄₈ of the price. Oh well live and learn

Rita Waltz is the best! She always takes her time to make sure everything is correct. We enjoy her company. She makes us feel right at home!

If I could just review about Hedi J (our tax consultant who helped us with our tax return then I would give him 5 stars)! I am not a big fan of H & R block and have tried many different services such as Hewitt Jackson and I got a few grand more than with H&R. The reason why I went to H&R this year is because Hewitt the location I go to closed. To my disappointment I got back way less than what I would have. However the experience with Hedi was great! He was really kind and spent much time discussing 401k, home loans, and all financials with my husband and I and he even offered for us to bring our tax return paperwork from Hewitt to make sure we get as much $ back as possible. Hedi was very pleasant and really went above and beyond for us. I was in a hurry so just went to H&R to get my taxes out the way but most likely next year, I won’t be coming back and will likely try a different place!

Terrible service. They could not access any of my tax info from 2012 (even though I filed with them before). The woman helping me spoke very broken English and was hard to understand. They could not answer any of my specific tax questions related to tuition reimbursement. After sitting there for 45 min without even starting my filing she told me it was going to be «very expensive» and I should just file on my own. I left.

I’m surprised no one added this business yet in this area. And considering taxes are due in a few days, I’m even more surprised!
Calling ahead of time or reserving an appointment online was important in being able to sit down with someone. I am unsure if they allow walk-​ins during peak season — which is now.
I got to talk with Jacqueline about my really simple tax situation but complicated. Honestly I expected her to give me the answer within 2 minutes and I’d be out of there. But she seemed not so confident and I was getting a little frustrated that she wouldn’t give me a clear answer. Eventually I had to draw it out of her so that I could choose the simple option of «independent» or «dependent and walk away with a free consultation. It was good she told me to just finish my taxes online and save the $ 39 federal and $ 39 state fees. This seems a little steep, but I guess some people have really confusing taxes with big returns.
Anyway, I’m glad I walked out without paying a dime. For everyone: their consultation is free, and then you choose if you want to do your taxes with them! I suggest if you’re a college student or have easy taxes — just do it alone (or call TurboTax and talk to someone for free!). It’s not worth coming in unless you have really weird taxes with lots of digits to play with. Or live right next door to it, which is giving away too much information about myself.
Tip:
If you file with H&R, they do a «second glance» check for free after you file! Take advantage of that! :)
Mehs. I’m sure other tax professionals there would have been very helpful (they seemed like they’d know what they were doing), maybe next time I’ll choose someone else…
