At Hillcrest Micro Endodontics, we specialized in all types Endodontic treatment including root canals, root canal retreatments, apicoectomies and the diagnosis of generalized dental pain. We utilize state of the art technology to give our patients the most accurate diagnosis and treatment possible. The doctors use surgical microscopes during their procedures to ensure that the treatments are done accurately the first time, ensuring the longevity of your tooth. We also have a 3D Cone Beam Xray machine to aid in the diagnosis and/​or treatment of difficult or unusual cases. Our office prides itself in providing our patients the highest standard of dental care in a friendly, warm, and comfortable environment. Our highly trained staff members are here and available to assist you with any questions or concerns prior to, during and after your treatment. We are always available to accommodate same-​day patients who are having pain and we are on call to help with emergencies during the weekend.

Brian Quesnell and Cameron Stout.

Business Owner

Dr. Brian Quesnell graduated with honors from the UC Davis with B.S. degrees in Biology and Physiology. Next, he attended UCLA School of Dentistry, where he received his DDS degree and was class valedictorian. He continued his education with an advanced general dentistry residency at UCLA followed by a two-​year endodontic residency at the Univ. of Illinois at Chicago, School of Dentistry.

Dr. Cameron M. Stout graduated from BYU with a B.S. degree in Biology. He then attended UCLA School of Dentistry, where he received his DDS degree followed by a two-​year endodontic residency at the University of Florida, College of Dentistry.

Both doctors actively participate in post grad courses throughout the US in order to remain on the cutting edge of the science and technology. They are members of the American Ass. of Endodontists, American Dental Ass., Cal State Ass. of Endodontists, California Dental Ass., San Diego County Dental Society and the San Diego Endodontic Study Club.

Best phone call at a dentist office. The person who answered the phone was knowledgable and very helpful. She told me to take Advil for a few days and see if the nerve could calm itself down. Regressing to see professional people who aren’t just hungry for money! I will recommend this place to anyone from just that phone call

I’m giving this place a 5 due to the staff and the dental care I received getting an emergency root canal the day before Christmas! Although it wasn’t awesome and it cost me an arm and a leg the staff was amazing, very professional, and the dentist was amazing too! No one wants to be excited about the dentist but this place is 5 stars for sure!

I have seriously never had such a great experience with my teeth before in my entire life. And it wasn’t so much that the root canal was pleasant (because let’s face it. Umm no. lol). BUT, the service that they provide at this particular place is amazing!
Long story, short. I’ve had inconsistent pain for three months. My regular dentist referred me here. Before I could make an appointment, I woke up at 2am with excruciating, «I think I’m gonna die» pain! And I’ve had two kids. I know pain! I called their office because it said they had a 24 emergency line. A lady answered, gave my info to the specialist. Dr. Stout called an hour later and asked me several questions. He the proceeded to prescribe me medication to get through the weekend since it was a Friday. He searched for a 24 hour pharmacy for me and said head over there in 15 min. I literally didn’t feel the pain until my appointment to get my root canal done two weeks later.
The root canal itself only took 45 min or so. 30 min for prep and numbing and other things. He went through my crown instead of removing it, for a less invasive procedure. To top it all off, my insurance is amazing so I paid $ 50. And that’s it. Anddddd I felt absolutely nothing after the numbness wore off. I ran three miles that same day.
Amazing!!! Makes a girl wanna get a root canal just for fun. (I was kidding Jesus. Please don’t bless me with one.)

Wonderful, professional service! They took the time to fit me in, work with me on my insurance, and the staff were professional and kind. The doctor was extremely informative, and overall my experience was great.
My only concern was that the morning of my appointment, I received a voicemail regarding my appointment, saying that other patients were in pain and were experiencing emergencies, and that if I did not contact or return their call soon, my slot would be given away.
This concerned me because my experience has been that an appointment is an appointment, it should not be given away unless the patient cancels. It also concerned me because it was my feeling that my emergency and pain were no less of a priority than other patients so it would not make sense to give my slot away without my consent. The voicemail felt unnecessary. Of course I returned their phone call and confirmed my appointment, but I did not feel this voicemail demonstrated the sensitivity and professionalism that I experienced while I was actually in the office in person.
This aside, the dentists and staff were above standard.

Dr. Quesnell and his staff are amazing! They each display unparalleled compassion, skill, and make you feel comfortable and at ease. No one wants a root canal, but I would never go to a different Endodontist as he is the best. I have called numerous times after hours and they always get back to me quickly, are patient with my constant questions, and treat me with dignity. I hope never to need another root canal, but it is good to know the best Endodontist in the city is there. By the way, I had 4 root canals done there and NEVER felt an ounce of pain. They take their time to make you good and numb and talk through the procedure and make sure you remain comfortable.

I came in here due to an emergency root canal. I was recommended by another dentist in Hillcrest. He took me in the very next day and we did an X-​ray and of course we could see a massive black spot all the way to the root. I was in so much pain and I’m pregnant that I don’t have much resources to deal with the pain. He said come back in three hours and he would stay after hours to get it done. He finished drilling it down in fourty minutes. I had one years ago and it took almost two hours. They used a plastic guard around my mouth so only the tooth was exposed. Which was wonderful because I hate when they have to suction drool out of your mouth. I’m really impressed with this place and would highly recommend getting work done here.

I was referred here by my dentist, I had spent my holiday season in excruciating pain, and expected to have to wait a while to get an appointment (it was the Monday after Christmas). This was not the case, they got me in the same day did an exam, Dr. Cameron explained everything to me, the office scheduled my root canal for first day I could get one, and called me a couple of times between my appointments to check on me. Dr. Cameron was so kind, quick, professional, and had great taste in music which helped the time in the chair go much faster.

Dr. Stout did outstanding work on my root canal. First time I’ve had one and didn’t know what to expect. He thoroughly explained everything before the procedure, addressing all my questions & concerns. Dr. Stout had me in and out within 1 hour, as promised. 24 hours later my tooth ache is gone and hardly any pain from the root canal either. Very professional staff as well! Thanks to a job well done!!!

I have had 2 root canals done by Dr. Quesnell within the last 2 weeks. Both times I was taken care of within 1 hour each visit — from check-​in to check-​out. (I have had many root canals in my lifetime and time does make a difference).
The office is inviting, the front staff is very personable & professional. Most of my paperwork was taken care of even before going in.
Once you are sitting in the chair, you have good music in the background, the doctor comes in to review what will take place, then pillow and sunglasses are given to you. After the numbing process the doctor gets right down to work. Dr. Quesnell has a very calm demeanor and he & his assistant are true specialist! They make you know you are under well informed hands.
You will also receive a follow up phone call the following day ;)
I was very comfortable throughout the entire visit and would refer «anyone» to Dr. Quesnell (from any age group). This office knows what they are doing!

For all the people in the San Diego who are scared of Dentists and need a root canal, GO TO DR STOUT!
I arrived at 630 am for my surgery, I was given medication under my tongue, covered with a blanket, and the only thing I remember was Dr Stout telling me to open my mouth for the numbing medicine.
Next thing I know it was over and my ride was picking me up!
My tooth looks great and feels great!
The office staff are very sweet as well! (The office is very upscale, clean and professional)
I am sharing this information because I am so frightened of dental work and I hope to help someone else who may be looking for the best!

I just brought my 13 yr old son here for a root canal on a tooth he broke a couple of years ago and we couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. Dr. Quesnell and his staff were very kind and funny and took steps to keep my son relaxed. The entire procedure was significantly quicker than my own root canal at another dentist 10 years ago, which is a testament to the advances in this field. (I got through 2 chapters of a book before my son was ready to go home, and I’m a fast reader.) When talking to Dr. Quesnell, you quickly realize that he is a true specialist and you can’t help but to completely trust him. Everything at Hillcrest Endodontics is top shelf; the tools they use, the gorgeous décor, the charming staff. I will definitely recommend this office to any of my friends and I will come here, myself, should I need this kind of work.

My husband had been having a front lower tooth issue for about 5 years … two dentists couldn’t figure it out because there were no symptoms and the feeling was intermittent.
In November, one of the dentists gave him two root canals once there appeared to be an infection in the gum in the area. Two root canals later, and he’s still having pain.
Fast forward to the end of last month and the pain is becoming unbearable so he goes to Hillcrest Endodontics, which was highly-​rated by Unilocal users. Dr. Quesnell said that there was an infection in the root canals of both teeth and that he’d need two apicoectomies.
On the day of the surgery, Dr. Quesnell found a golf ball-​sized infection underneath the teeth. The recovery was brutal, but my husband is now pain-​free and hoping that the bone and gum lost due to the infection will regenerate.
Lesson learned … ALWAYS GO TO AN ENDODONTIST FOR YOUR ROOT CANAL, not a regular dentist. We highly recommend Hillcrest Endodontics.

So, at the age of 45 I needed my very first major dental work; a root canal. I was referred to this office by my dentist Dr. Jason Brown of Downtown Dental Arts. I am admittedly a big baby but they assured me that the drug that they use (Halcyon — in liu of gas) would be a great compliment to the novacaine. They told me that most patients don’t even recall the procedure happening. I arrived at their gorgeous office and was welcomed warmly while the paperwork was being done and they gave me the sedative. I waited in the front room for about 15 min and started to feel it working but not enough to begin just yet. Janet walked me to my room, put a pillow under my head and gave me a blanket. She assure me that if I wasn’t feeling comfortable that they would give me another half pill. Dr (I actually don’t even remember which one) came in and explained what he was going to do. Assured me my root canal was something that they did all the time and I should have no issues. I asked if they had some headphones to negate the drill sound and they gave me a set of Bose noise canceling headphones. Then came the novacaine injections which were not fun, but not terribly painful… very quickly performed too. After I was numb, I closed my eyes, turned up my music and all I ever felt was the placing of the mouth guard. The rest is only a blur. I remember only being put in another room waiting for my husband and walking out of the office. I don’t know how I got from the car to the bed (for a 3 hour nap) …I had only mild pain from the injection site of the needles the next day.
BEST DENTAL EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Hopefully won’t need them again for a long time but top notch service, top notch staff and perfect technical abilities!

I was having serious problems. I was in so much pain I wasn’t sleepy much and my dentist couldn’t see me right away. Not only did they get me in that day, Dr. Quesnell scheduled me for a root canal that very day. The staff was very understanding and caring. Now my mouth is healing and grateful that they were able to take care of me right away. Very nice people and place. I highly recommend them!!!

A friend referred them to me. I was very impressed as they scheduled a root canal retreatment consultation the day I called them, and they lined up my root canal re-​treatment the week of.
Not having dental insurance, they let me know about their Care Credit program that I could apply for — so I was able to move forward without the stress of a big dental bill. Mind you, Care Credit is like a credit card, but for health related services only and you have to get approved. Dr Quesnell was extremely communicative, knowledgeable, gentle and caring. You can tell he is passionate about helping people and wants you to have the best experience possible under his care.
Lastly, the office is gorgeous, clean, & modern… I LIKE!

I don’t have Insurance, so I paid in full (it hurts) but I was so happy that I spend my money on a really great treatment.
