This place is closed for business but it appears open until you get to the door and peek inside to see everything covered up. It looks like it has become someone’s storage locker. Bummer.

Decent coffee, good baked goods, terrible hours! I love their patio, and it’s walking distance to my house but the hours make it hard to get there. Can take your dogs on the patio, which I appreciate. Maybe they should extend hours just for summer?

Cute little outdoor area with easy parking. Really friendly and informative service. Everything baked fresh and the lattes were creamy and inexpensive. Be mindful it is cash only.

Just when I think, things can’t get any better, along comes the Honey Bear Cottage: a great coffee shop and bakery. I was especially impressed when I learned they do their baking in house, and as soon as I saw a the huge scones inside the glass counter I was done for. I picked tried the maple, pecan, and walnut scone and I two Americano, totally $ 5 and some change. The scone was outstanding and came topped with many crunchy pecans and a sweet vanilla striped frosting( ). I had it warmed up, so when I broke into it, steamed poured out filling the air around with the sweet scent of maple. The inside was very moist and with the random walnut, provided nice texture( ). A great scone and a great scone to enjoy with a nice cup of espresso. They use Moto blends for their espresso, so the Americano was no doubt strong in a good way. It was smooth and rich with a ever so slight bitter after taste, that added nice character to the blend. I drank the Americano in tandem with my scone. They have free Wi-Fi for customers, comfortable inside seating, and a very nice front patio with plenty of seating.( ) They also make breakfast and lunch items. The gentlemen, the owner, was friendly and proud of his establishment, with good reason too. They have been serving the community of Point and Ocean Beach for the past 25 years. Yes, 25 years, so if you did not know about this place, well you do now…

Coffee is always perfect. Their cheddar jalapeño bagels are to die for! If they have the lox and bagel I definitely recommend getting it. The owner is nice, polite, and gets your order out quickly. Ordered a bagel to go today and when he handed me the bag he told me that he included a «sample». He gave me a giant maple scone for free. Super cool!

I have LOVED everything I have tried from here! Java jolt! Mocha freeze! White hazelnut blend! Cinnamon roll! Berry muffins! Berry scones! … Oh my! :) I’ve started to order double to share with my coworkers!!! :) I already recommend this café to friends and would certainly recommend it to other Unilocalers! CASHONLY Also, I’ve read some reviews about the owner being rude. I don’t think he is rude at all. If you prefer an idiot teenager flirting with you for tips and spending more time talking to their coworkers than making you coffee, in their bikinis, you might not like this café. The owner is nice, fast and makes delicious coffee and treats. What more could you ask for???

Honey Bear Cottage SD: Point Loma/OB 1pm Tuesday 22 May 2012 Four Stars This is a super chill spot to talk and enjoy a cup of coffee. The music was bit eccentric but mellow and played at a volume that you can still have a conversation. The coffee was great. I had a $ 2.50 Delicious Single Cappuccino. There was no trace of bitterness. The foam, milk, coffee ratio was exactly the way I like it. The foam was thick but soft and he even made a little heart. Definitely coming back here!

Nope! $ 1.90 for a large coffee is the best thing goin for this spot. Well, i guess the outside front patio in the cut is pretty dope too, but the coffee was, lets say… NOT great and the service was, well… NOT friendly at all; which is kind of a surprise since there was only one other customer in and outta there the entire hour+ i was kickin it onna Saturday morning. I now know why the place always looks deserted. Damn! This spot has such potential to be a great coffee shop, but they just aint doin it right at the Honey Bear. Wish i could hold em in higher regards, but thats simply not the case.

Just moved in up the street and was told I had to check this place out. A friend told me to try the muffins, that they were awesome and packed full of goodies! So I dropped on by one morning for a cup of coffee and a muffin, and Just as I was told, the muffin was awesome!!! packed full of big worm berries and crunchy nuts. I recommend it to anyone in the neighborhood.

I love this place. If I lived a little bit closer I’d make it my daily stop. The iced chai is one of the best in San Diego, and the breakfast sandwiches/bagels are all tasty and priced right. Angelo is extremely friendly and knows most of his customers by name. This, along with the cute cottage location makes Honey Bear a must visit if you haven’t already.

I’m not sure I want to really share my favorite Saturday breakfast place, but here goes. The baked goods are great, the coffee is good, the service is friendly. Outdoor tables w/umbrellas and a covered patio area. Free WiFi. Go in a few times and Angelo will remember your usual order. Yes, you can get your Acai bowls or oatmeal if you like. Angelo’s mom makes killer berry scones and in the fall, if you’re lucky, you might score one of her pumpkin scones. My son swears by the bacon and melted cheese sandwiches on sourdough. Oh and the occasional chocolate croissant.

How can you be a café(where one intends to relax for hours drinking coffee and getting some work done via the free internet) if you don’t have a BATHROOM?! I just finally stopped in this place that i usually drive by on my way home. I needed a nice place to get some work done. I thought it would be good to skip the S-bucks and help out the locals. I was told NO bathroom. um… and i’m supposed to hang out and drink coffee? I tried. won’t be going back. I give it 2 stars because i can’t say good or bad about the food.

Okay so I have been going here since I was in high school at PLHS. The food is AWESOME the Drinks AWESOME the place is the clean and lovely however its only fall back is the owner. He seems like he hates having to work there and it sucks because the food is so awesome and Im sure he could get so much for business if they hired someone with a smile on there face and a personality waiting for the customers at the counter. Just my 2 cents oh and yes they do take credit cards and have taken them for the past 4 years! Oh and of course as everything else in OB parking is painful but he opened up the back 3 spaces for his customers.

What sets this cute little cottage out from the teems of other coffee shops in the area is the outside patio seating. They are Cash Only, so come with some folding money. Be sure to bring along your laptop if you want to take advantage of the free wi-fi. They have a large shelf by the counter filled with magazines and newspapers if you just want to spend some time sipping and reading. The drink menu is what you would expect at a coffee house. Their food menu is pretty thorough, too. Lots of sandwiches and bagels. I have not sampled their foodstuff. Cozy little place. Too bad it’s not in much of a high foot-traffic area or I would walk there all the time. As it is, I have to bike it.
