Margie Newman and Intesa have quickly established themselves as all-​star corporate citizens in the San Diego region. My organization, the San Diego Council on Literacy, had the great fortune of connecting with Margie and Intesa to work on a very special event… that would only succeed with strong marketing support. Jumping in two feet first, Intesa was the media force behind our Leap for Literacy event, which featured a board member who was celebrating her 25^th anniversary in literacy by making her first jump out of an airplane. The jump took place on September 8, 2013, International Literacy Day. Over $ 4,000 was raised for literacy. Most importantly, plenty of media attention was secured for the leap, including coverage by KGTV, UT-​TV, U-​T San Diego, and other media. While services were provided pro-​bono (in-​kind), our event and our personnel were treated like first-​class paying clients. Very important to us was the enthusiasm, responsive, attention to detail, presence, passion, and overall… super-​humane and super-​human attention approach that Margie and Intesa brought to our work in human services. We will forever be grateful to Intesa and Margie for making our one-​time event the hit that it was. If we had more partners like Intesa, we’d make tons more ground in decreasing the rate of illiteracy in our community.
