History

Established in 2010.

Joe Can The Handyman became an official business in February of 2010. Interestingly enough it was not my plan or intent. I was on unemployed and collecting unemployment insurance from 2008 until February 2010. I had worked in construction all my life and never had a problem finding work. However during the time on unemployment the economy and especially construction was tanked. I couldn’t find a job for the life of me. After more continual closed doors I even started applying at retail stores. Nothing, as a Christian man I expressed my frustration to God. He said work for yourself. Well I put an ad on a local site and I got a call. I had $ 40 to my name and the call was 50 miles one way. I trusted God did that call and well here I am. A well established small business with a long list of customers. In a few simple words the history and origin of my business… The favor of God!

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Hi I’m Joseph,

I came to San Diego in 1986 at the age of 15. Right away I went to work with my step dad at a local plumbing company, not happily I might add! But that was the beginning of construction journey. I worked for this company all thought high school and right up until they closed. From there I went on to work as a roofers help and in that field for 6 – 7 years. I have work as an apprentice carpenter local 547, I worked in a cabinet shop for several years both in fabrication and install. I’ve work for several general contractor in San Diego. While working with them I’ve had the opportunity to learn and become skilled at most aspects of home improvement.

Interesting enough I got bored with many trades along my journey and I would stop working in one field and do something else. Those around me would say NO pick a trade and stick with it, great advice. Looking back I see now that God was allowing me the opportunity to learn the skills that I now share with you.
