Joy Car Rental

I love this place! The customer service here at Joy Car rental is excellent! I have received the finest service from them, time after time! I worked with a woman named BRANDY! She was so professional. courteous and even funny! What a treat! And they aren’t too big to take each customer for granted, either! I tried to rent a car from them last week, but their cars were all rented! I guess the word is out that they excellent at renting cars! They are at the top of my list in San Diego !

I wish I could rate lower than 1 star — made a Unilocal account just so I could write a review of this dump. STAY AWAY!!! I made my reservation online and they originally tried to tell me it would be double the cost — eventually agreed to ‘graciously’ cut down the fees they added on after I showed them in writing the price I had made my reservation for. The whole process took over and hour. Very sketchy, seems like a major scam. Doesn’t even go under the name reserved online (EconomyRentACar) Seriously. Hitch-​hike through San Diego before coming here. I’m just waiting for some fiasco to happen before the car rental is returned

Well I didn’t have to wait long for this experience to get worse. During the check-​in process, the lady asked if I would forward my confirmation email to her. A few hours after I left, she replied to my PERSONAL email with an opening line of ‘Wow, your review really hurt my feelings’ and then went on to defend the business. THEN, a second employee (about halfway through check-​in the first lady left and passed me off to someone else) left me a huge message on Unilocal,upset about my review and defending the company (companies?).
There is one thing I was wrong about in my first review. I was passive-​aggressively made aware that she saw I’ve been ‘Yelping since 2013.’ Apparently I made an account three years ago and haven’t hardly used it besides my SO logging in on my phone once to leave a review.
I absolutely cannot believe the unprofessionalism bordering on harassment I experienced at this place. I’m honestly uncomfortable that these people have my credit card info, etc, so I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for anything weird happening there.
The guy that I dropped the car off with was friendly and professional, but overall this was the worst experience I’ve ever had with a company.

I’m highly recommending this place. They are very accommodating and egar to help. Their staff is very friendly. I needed a car in a pinch and they were the only ones not trying to nickel and dime me. For sure next time I need a car I will check with them first!

UNPROFESSIONAL, CROOKS, & UNORGANIZED, STAY AWAY!!! I’m from the area & my car broke so I needed a rental. Went here, paid for 4 days. Car got fixed faster then usual returned the car after two days use was suppose to get half my money back cause I used the car for half the time I paid for. 15 days later still no refund called them & they won’t refund me half the amount because I got a «special 4 day rate» & because I didn’t use the car for the whole 4 days the «daily rate was more». But when I dropped off I was given a receipt saying if get half my money back & told by the middle eastern employee quote «if there’s no tickets you should be getting a refund in a week». The guy on the phone said rudely «well bring in the receipt then» I’m going to look for it. They are crooks. Terrible customer service & terrible attitudes. & obviously not organized. I’d also like the add the red Chevy I rented came with 2 air freshener trying to cover up the smoke smell. It was pretty gross. The car was heavily smoked in prior

Beware: This company goes by Economy Car rental on Travelocity, and probably some other online travel sites.
I received a quote on the site and of course, the car I booked was not available, so they offered a more expensive one. When I reluctantly agreed because I was in a hurry, as I drove off their garage, I noticed plenty of small four door cars on the lot, so they obviously lied to me, in order to upsale.
The guy who worked with me was extremely slow. The entire process is nothing I’ve seen before. Annoyingly slow and unprofessional.

I needed a car for four months and i chose this place because it was much cheaper than the chain businesses. Everyone I spoke with was very friendly and helpful. The car itself was fine, nothing special but had no problems with it. They made the check in and out processes very quick and easy, as well as transportation back to the airport. I would recommend this place, especially if you’re on a budget!

I forgot to write another review for when I used this place in January 2016. Again, the customer service was amazing. They called to ask if I needed the car a few more days (which I did) and also to remind me when to return the car. I’m going back to California this June and will be using Joy Car Rental again and every time I visit California! Really recommend this place!

One of their drivers backed up into me and the company refused to give us their insurance information. I fact when I called back the owner called me an assehole. I turned the claim into my insurance company and filed a report with the San Diego District Attorneys office. They come across as totally dishonest and rent older junker cars to foreign students. I would not rent from them since they have no intergity.

We had a HORRIBLE experience with another car rental company upon arriving to San Diego, and than found Joy Car rental. They picked us up at the airport and there prices are so good we have NOTHING bad to say about this company! Thanks again everyone who helped :) We’re defiantly using your company again when we’re in town.

My experience with joy car rental is nothing short of outstanding.
Their customer service and loyalty to former customers is the kind of was you expect from the big chains, but just don’t seem to get.
An example we came to get one vehicle that was unavailable and immediately they not only accommodated me but upgraded me to the best vehicle that I could get in that class.
What I use joy car rental again, absolutely I’m not only putting this post up, I’m also posting it to my Facebook and my Twitter.

Great place to rent a car if you don’t need the requirements of the major chains. Small family type of business feel with no corporate BS. We got a live person on the phone right way. We went to cheap car rentals first and got the run around so we reach out to Joy Car rentals. The staff was very courteous and pleasant. Even the owner came to pick us up from home with the car and the transaction went very smooth.

I gotta give this place a BIG five stars. I just moved to the city and needed a basic car at a cheap rate to help me get to jobs, get around, acquaint myself with the city etc. I had originally gone to a competitor but they had nothing in my price range available for several weeks. Joy really hooked me up. They matched the rate of the competitor and gave me a better car. The manager I interacted with was super polite, friendly and helpful! Highly recommend this business.

Pretty quick and simple. Just called and went in to pick up the vehicle. All within one hour. You do have to be on your toes though, i was told that i would get one car and when i arrived i was handed the keys to a run down, empty vehicle and finally they gave a different car because they were about to close and didn’t have time to put in any gas. Other than that, just check the papers to see what they put down for the gas level.

Haven’t written a review in a long time but these guys are really bad. They will give a low quote and when you show up its several hundreds more. They play dumb and the receptionist will swear she never talked to you on the phone. Then they play the game that they’re doing you a favor. This pissed me of so bad we just went down the road to rent from a national chain. Don’t reward shady business.

I needed a vehicle to train my son how to drive a stick shift. I contacted a few companies and Joy was the one to come through. They were very reasonable and worked with me to meet my needs.
If you need a rental car (for whatever reason), make it a Joy! :)
