So far, I’ve had the carnitas tacos and they are very good. I ordered the mixed carnitas which comes with the meat everyone knows as well as some choice fat and it was delicious. I will post along as I continue to explore the menu. I look forward to my lunch trips to this place.

I love, love, love this place. Yeah its in the hood and the screen door that is used is for a house but I love the food and drinks! Cheap beers, good mariscos, and the Michaelas are the best! I just wish they could somehow control the flies in the outside patio.

FINALLY found a place that has great tacos and a very yummy michelada! My friend and I have been searching for a place like this for about 3 months! So happy! If you want some good food and a place that isn’t super overrated then come here! Sitting outside is also really nice but they do have inside seating.

I found out about this semi hidden Gem through my mom who had been coming here for years and apparently leaving me out off all the goodness this place has to offer. One day i had a killer hangover and my mom said i know what will cure it, i was curious she recommended a Tostada Loca, boy was I glad she did. Its so incredibly good. so refreshing, so juicy and if you’re a sea food lover like I am this is like a heavenly goodness. I ordered half a Tostada which is still a huge portion and they give you like five tostadas to go along with it. it comes with shrimp, scallops, clams, octopus, onion, tomatoes, cilantro, cucumbers, avocado, lemon juice, and you can top it off with your choice of hot sauce. they have a wide variety of different food they sell but everytime i come I cant resist this, but i have tried the carnitas tacos and they are so tender so delicious, its a small spot and parking is scarce but its worth the fuss. The owner is really kind and all the staff is very friendly. You wont be disappointed. If you havent yet come here. asap !!

Food was not what I expected. Ordered chicken quesadilla and some other stuff. The chicken was super dry barely any cheese in it. used a $ 10 restaurant certificate I spent 21 $ and cashier said I need to spend 25 $ to use it but in the certificate clearly says minimun $ 20. never again.

If you were wondering if this places«messes around». The answer is NO, they do NOT mess around. This place is off the chizzain good. The REAL Mexican food. The place Anthony Bourdain would be itching to get at. When you walk in you see 2 giant pots on the stove that I could crawl in and take a bubble bath. It’s like a claw foot tub size pot to cook the gloriously delicious carnitas in. And there’s 2 of those puppies! The menu… oh the menu. So good. So great. Don’t even get me started on the Micheladas(see picture) which are bigger than they look in photos. But anyway, I had Carne Asada tacos, and tacos de buche. So yum. Buche: if you don’t know what it is look it up. It may or may not scare you. But I love it. The rest of the party had«the best carnitas ever» according to them. And my mama had some comforting menudo which soothed her teeny tiny hangover(represent Mom!). O as for the food and drinks, amazing. But then to add the chocolate dipped cherry on top, the lady at the register was so so nice and welcoming. But not just that, the CHEF came out to ask if we liked the food. He was the sweetest man ever. He really cared how we felt about the food. Rave reviews. Bravo, Las morelianas. Bravo!

The food was excellent, extremely affordable and the salsa bar was nicely stocked. The only suggestion I have is air-conditioning. In this heat it is no fun to walk in a place serving hot food that is just as muggy indoors. My hair was straight when I entered and had quite the frizzy curl once I left. However, this isn’t a salon so I won’t rate on that. Great food.

We were feeling adventurous and wanted to try something new, but the Colombian place was closed so my friend said let’s give this place a try. We walked across the street and Mexican music was on. It was full blast. So I was thinking… alright authentic Mexican food. I love Mexican food. Can’t go wrong. I’m about to dig in. We sat outside because it was a little warm inside the restaurant. Ordered 5 tacos and carne asada fries. Our waiter came with the complimentary chip and salsa. Well… the salsa was nothing like I’m used to. It has some kick to it, but no taste. All habanero and no personality to the salsa… but I didn’t lose hope and check out their salsa bar. Guess what… very disappointi ng. Not a lot of options. That habanero salsa and green sauce. Not the business. We’re off to a bad start. How can you have a loud Mexican music and bad salsa? Still… I’m giving them the benefit of a doubt that my tacos and carne asada fries will be good. So the tacos came about 10 – 15 minutes after the chips and ‘salsa’. Well, the tacos just came with meat and tortilla. Am I missing something here? Where’s the sauce and cilantro that I’m used to here? Is this the norm? So… I took a bite with the green sauce. It was ok. Meat was a little dry. At this point, I was already confused if I was actually in a Mexican restaurant or not. I haven’t gotten to the bet part yet. I still have my carne asada fries that I read that people liked here. Sigh… you guys lied to me. It tasted like cardboard. I took a couple bite and I was done. I boxed it and threw it away across the street. Only a one star from. Very disappointed. Not coming back.

I wanted to try the Salvadorian restaurant across the street but it was close so decided to give this place a try. The food was very lacking, especially given the previous reviews but I can’t complain about the service. Our waitress was fast and friendly but the food was dry and had no flavor. We ordered asada fries and chicken tacos, none of which tickled my fancy. The salsa bar didn’t have anything besides green sauce and habanero sauce, nothing of which would help our food taste any better. Very disappointing especially as the reviews were great and the place looked very authentic. I wouldn’t go back there.

Treasure chest of Mexican favorites. Try the trio of mix carnitas, camaron y adobada tacos con hecha a mano tortillas and find yourself in a happy place bursting with awesome flavors. The kicker? Michelada con Modelo to accompany the tacos. Domingo Gigante!

Being new in town. I started a search trying to find a place that served a michelada up to my standard of perfectness because I love a great michelada ! Tried wave house for one & it was horrible. Great mixed drinks, but they can’t make a michelada ! I Unilocaled it & found this little restaurant & it did not let down ! One of the best micheladas I’ve had in a while !!! I also ordered some shrimp tacos which were exquisite!!! Yumm!

The Best Carnitas in San Diego! I came here after a couple of friends. They raved about the micheladas and carnitas. They were both delicious. Next time I’m going to ask them to add some more of the chile powder into the michelada. Carnitas were fresh and juicy. Not dry, I had the«Surtido taco» which is all mixes of the pig, and boy was it scrumptious. You have to have it! I also had the Ceviche, which was really tasty as well.

Absolute perfection. Cheap beer and the most delicious mariscos around. Can’t get enough of this place. Any time I see a large glass case of chicharones when I walk in, I know I’ve hit the jackpot. Roll in to your average looking Mexican place for this neighborhood and decided I needed to take advantage of the patio. Awesome waitress takes drink order immediately. Everything is screaming off the menu at me but I decided to go with the green aguachile. She warned me about spice, so this is the first time I was cautionary and went with medium. Beer and chips hit the table. The chips are outstanding. They fold them over before they make them so you get a double wide chip that holds that grease perfectly. More SD joints gotta catch on to this culinary genius. Salsas were impressive as well. Out comes the most beautiful large bowl of aguachile. A nice bowl of tostadas done perfectly and some crackers to sop up this delicious sauce. Couldn’t get enough. Sauce is next level. I was pissed at first the heat wasn’t there, but it’s a slow heat that definitely kicks in at the end. The citrus tartness in this mind blowing. Everything is amazing about this place. This is the perfect summer patio Mexican place I can think of.

After searching on Unilocal for good Mexican seafood, I came across this page. I took one look at the picture of the michelada and decided I needed to go just for the michelada. So I finally got the chance to come try this place out, I had a michelada and a small shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail was pretty small but they packed so much shrimp in it! I was pretty surprised to see how many shrimps fit in the tiny glass. Now the michelada, was to die for. It was so good, it was tangy, sweet, and a little spicy. It was an awesome combination, and the presentation of it alone was great. This is a great place with awesome service. I love it, I will be back!

Hand down the best carnitas in town! There’s a bonus here too… La Bahia(best tostada loca and campemchana in town!) is connected to the shop… they literally share a roof! It’s great! Enjoy a couple of carnitas tacos while you enjoy a campenchana and michelada! Yum!

Some pinche guero punk rockero kept telling me about this place. He kept going on and on about the ceviche and carnitas. «Dude, it’s like the best ceviche ever» he said. Or something like that, Im not sure, he’s usually drunk when I see him. After living in the Bay Area for a couple of years my expectations for mariscos have been lowered somewhat. I’ve gotten used to paying for overpriced mediocre mariscos. Sad, I know. Well Las Morelianas is neither of those things. The campechana coctel has an abundance of scallops and shrimp. Most scallops I have seen in a campechana this far. They also use octopus, oysters and your usual onions and avocado in a clamato mix. I ordered the spicy version and was pleasantly surprised. It went perfect with a Modelo. I’ve also ordered the aguachile here and honestly that was about 6 months ago and I just remember it being quite large for the price. I had a hard time finishing it by myself. Definitely had me thinking I need to come back to explore the menu. Overall I’d say pinche guero punk rockero was on to something. The people running Las Morelianas used to operate a section of the old San Diego Farmers Market on Imperial. If you remember the awesome carnitas tacos you could get there, well that was these guys. Oh and if you’re a fancy pants person worried about the neighborhood or just in a hurry in general call ahead and get an order to go. You won’t be disappointed 8)

You ever wonder about the little things that are actually big things? When you get actually snail mail from a friend. When your pops said he was proud of you. Those stupid butterflies in your stomach: when you think of someone who tosses rocks in your head. When a child comes running up to you with a smile bigger than the Cheshire cat, screaming your name; because they are just happy to see you. When a complete stranger smiles and compliments you. When you find twenty bucks in one of your old jackets and you go down to Las Moralenis and order the ceviche loca. There are others but the ceviche loca at Las Morelianas is one of those little things that makes your day and life better.
