Le Travel Store

Great store for travelers! They have a huge book section, an amazing bag selection which is very reasonably priced, and tons of little products to make travel easier.

Great finds in here, for those who love to travel.
They have an assortment of clothing, books, luggage and other travel related goods.

I am heading to Germany in a few days and I couldn’t find map of Munchen, Germany anywhere but Le Travel Store @ San Diego. The salespersons are very nice, The older gentleman led me to where the map was instead of telling me. The lady cashier was actually from Europe and offered few advise. The experience was a pleasant one in term of item availability and customer service. I just wish I knew about this store a tap earlier.
I would recommend this store to anyone who needs something for traveling.

Really enjoy this place, try to go in anytime I’m in the downtown area. They have travel books, gadgets, pretty much any kind of bag you could ever need. It’s in a prime location if you’re near or in downtown.
As far as service, I actually purchased a bag from them that had a minor manufacturing error and they called the company that next morning and had the part shipped to me with no hassle and very quickly done. You definitely can’t get that kind of attention from a big store, and if so not as quickly as they handled it. I was impressed, and I think Le Travel Store is a local business worth supporting.

Needed luggage for a 3 Week trip and was very overwhelmed by all the choices researched on line. Went to Le Travel store and they were incredibly knowledgable, helpful and patient. The owner showed us all the different options explaining benefits of each. No pressure whatsover. We walked out of there with luggage we love and know will be perfect for this and future trips. We also got great clothing (on sale!) as well as other necessities for our trip (guidebook, adaptor, etc.)

Stopped by Le Travel Store to purchase adapter plugs as we were traveling to Buenos Aires. I thought that was all I needed after looking at travel items until Bill told me they carried maps of Buenos Aires and Argentina. He also directed me to a book of South American Spanish. The map he sold me was superior to any street map I found in Buenos Aires. It made navigating so much easier. He had been there and gave me tips on other places in Argentina to visit. His helpfulness and knowledge were tops! Service like this deserves more than 5 stars!

Such a great store! They have a great selection of travel books and other things you might need for your trip. The people who work here are fun to talk to about your trip, and they are very knowledgeable and helpful.

So I have been in this store several times comparing backpack travel bags for my upcoming trip abroad and was ready to buy them that day. They have a nice selection of things, great books and a small but good selection of travel clothing and gear. But my issue with this store is the woman that works the floor there is scary!!! All three times I have been in she has been there and she has been weird every time and I thought of this person as I walked in today hoping she wasnt there and she was. She asked me like 5 times if I had I question (once is suffice), which was nice, but totally annoying as I said no 5 times, and if I had a question I will ask you, so stop f-​in harrassing me. I was trying on an Eagle Creek bag to see how comfy it was and after I denied her 5^th «Do I have a question» request, she proceeded to circle and circle me like a shark, a moment away from digging those teeth in. She made me feel so uncomfortable and gave me the impression she thought I was going to steal something, it was obnoxious, I had to leave and she seriously has done this everytime. WTF??? The last time I was in with my husabnd flipping through some books and she circled us like a shark again and he is not an easily frazzled man and he was like, please lets go. This lady really needs to go work for Walmart or something. Browsing in this store is not an option, this lady will stalk you until you cant take it any longer and run like hell out of there. I guess I will go spend the $ 600 dollars I was prepared to spend today on two bags up at REI, where they have good sales and nobody stalks you as you shop. But, if it werent for this woman, I would patronize this store alot more.

I just visited this store yesterday. I’d never been in before, although I’ve passed by several times. It’s a big place and they have a large selection of travel gear.
I needed a daypack big enough for my laptop, which I was lugging around in a beat-​up bag. (Long story about how I ended up dragging the poor thing along to Comic-​Con every day.) I’d been thinking about buying a laptop-​sized daypack for months and decided I might as well pick one up immediately, since I obviously needed one.
I found a beautiful bag that’s been working out perfectly. The folks working there were really friendly and helpful. The gentleman assisted me. He was really nice and he gave me some new info about travel packs, which was very informative. They had just received a new color of the bag I was considering and the gal made sure I got to examine it. I ended up buying the cool new color.
I could’ve spent a great deal of time here, as they had a good selection of gear, gadgets and books. But, I had to get back to the con.

Very nice independent travel store. I usually go to REI for my travel gear needs, but this place has such a great variety of travel books, and I do like supporting the little guys even though I get the REI dividends!!! They have a pretty good selection of gear here from brands I trust (Eagle Creek, PacSafe, etc.), which mostly sells at regular price but sometimes they have sales. I love that this place is downtown right by my work; I’ve come in here on my lunch hour just to fantasize about my next trip. I have never tried the travel booking service here so I can’t comment on that, but the floor staff has been friendly and helpful on each visit.

We needed a gift, waited until the last minute, and planned to go to the Travel Sore on our way to the birthday party. We got there half hour after it closed (we didn’t know they closed at 6pm), but the two women working there still let us in and helped us find the perfect thing. It’s a great store for those who love to travel… tons of great gadgets, clothes, bags, books… they really have everything.
They helped us even though it was well past closing and they had every rights to keep the doors closed. We ended up spending about $ 200 so I guess it was worth it for them. They were very nice, super helpful, and let us take our time.
I highly recommend a visit to Le Travel Store!

I live 3 blocks away from this place and was really hoping to be able to give it 5 stars but the customer service today was terrible. The woman who was out on the floor today was rude to me and my husband. Maybe she was having a bad day.
I do love the layout of the store though and the selection is good. They also usually have pretty good deals in the sale section in the back. I will go back soon and hopefully someone else will help me.

I’ve been in search of the awesome purse made by Eagle Creek called the Bohemian and have searched near and far for it in So. Cal well my search ended here at Le Travel Store!
I called first being that my long search had led me nowhere and to my surprise the woman whom I believe was the owner said they had the purse I wanted and in every color it came in. I was excited and there we went to downtown SD!
We get there and were greeted by a young woman who was great in helping us find what I was looking for and the luggage we have been in search for as well. My husband kept her busy in the luggage section while I looked at all the purses. I actually found a different style. Its still made by Eagle Creek but it works better for me and opens a bit wider then the Bohemian.
After finding my purse, I mosie on over to the the front of the store where the luggage is kept and the store clerk was busy showing my husband the awesome features the luggage we want to purchase has and we left there knowing what we want and we will be back to get it. Its the Eagle Creek 6000cu series and its big enough to fit my kid in it… haha
Its great now I can pack all three of our stuff in one luggage and not have to worry about packing three separate bags! Woo hoo I’m so excited!

I met Bill Keller, the owner of Le Travel Store, at a community meeting, after talking he mentioned he owned a travel store on 4^th ave. I couldn’t believe I had passed this place up so many times. Bill and his family are hard core world travelers and it comes through in the feel of their store.
Bottom line: Le Travel Store is freaking awesome! They have everything from suitcases to travel gear to all the little travel gadgets you never knew you needed. The store has a pretty cool layout and makes you feel inspired to travel just by walking through. I really enjoy the STA travel in the front of the building, it’s a great place to pick up catalogs for group travel if that’s your sort of thing. Everything is priced very reasonably and they have lots of sales.
More people should know about this place, especially all you downtowners! don’t bother with getting your basic stuff at REI patron your downtown stores! :)
oh and funny little tidbit: all the pictures hung off the rafters. Bill and his family traveling around the world. how cool!

I LOVE this store! As much as I wish there was a Le Travel Store in San Francisco, I’m glad to know that it’s an independent business and one of a kind. This store is a traveler’s paradise… basically one-​stop shopping for ALL your travel needs. They sell EVERYTHING from guidebooks to luggage to mosquito repellent lined clothing to little things that you hate to think about when you travel abroad, such as universal plug adapters and voltage converters. Very cool!

I wanted my San Diego trip to be the opposite of the social clusterbomb that was « Unilocal does Las Vegas»: solitary travel, reflection, and creating my own agendas. I rented a car and drove around, occasionally randomly, through this beautiful city. And while lone wandering left me fulfilled, more experienced and without regret, I still felt somewhat lacking.
I learned that while you can visit the most magnificent of places and see the most beautiful of things, what ultimately makes life meaningful is being with the people you care most about.
Le Travel Store sells (and can help you plan for) everything you’d ever need to go anywhere you can dream. Just be prepared for the realization that where you’d really like to go may not be very far at all.

I would highly reccomend this place to anyone who is going out of the country. They have travel agents on hand to make reservations or set up packages for you, and their map/​travel book selection is elite status. Stay away from most of the accessories though (you don’t need a «Travel Towel» or «Travel Underwear,» you just need a towel and some underwear.)

Very cool travel store. They have a plethora of travel books and all kinds of travel luggage and gear to help you on your next adventure. The owners are very friendly and are unbelievably well-​traveled. They are always more than happy to give advice to help plan your next trip. I know the owner’s son (who happens to be on an extended trip in India at the moment), and after talking to them for a moment you’ll realize they are a wealth of information — so I highly recommend these guys. You can also book travel arrangements right in the store.
