Lightbridge Hospice & Palliative Care

Lightbridge Hospice and Palliative Care has been a blessing where we thought there were none. They came highly recommended by a friend. Such a relief. Professional, compassionate, efficient, kind, available, knowledgable. Could not ask for anything more. Thank you!

Lightbridge Hospice was recommended to us by Meridian Home Health Care (who were also amazingly exceptional). My grandmother and my family received exceptional, caring and compassionate care from Lightbridge, and I can never say thank you enough to them for being there for her and for us, and for helping her to pass as pain free as possible and with the dignity she deserved. They were there to support us the moment we initiated contact, and they got us the equipment and medication we needed immediately. I realize now just how helpful that is-​not having any sort of delay, and having support when you really need it the most. Everything happened so quickly for us, but Lightbridge helped keep things calm and allowed us the ability to just be with my grandma. When she passed, they helped us make all the necessary arrangements.

I found out about Lightbridge because I actually became a volunteer for them. Shortly after I joined my Dad became very ill. He had metastatic melanoma in its final stage. He didn’t last more than a few months after we found out he was sick. In the beginning he signed on with Lightbridge and the process was very smooth and they just made it very warm and comfortable for him. Every single one of the staff members was personable and I could tell they really cared about my Dad and all of us as well. My Dad decided to seek a clinical trial for his melanoma so he signed off of lightbridge. It was not successful and about a month and a half later he decided he would get a palliative care nurse through his insurance with Kaiser. When they saw his condition and his desire not to fight and just be comfortable they switched to hospice care. He only had kaiser hospice care for less than two days. In that time he was in a lot of pain and when we would call for a nurse to come help him we were told they didn’t provide care on weekends. So he just had to suffer through the weekend?
We realized this would not work and quickly called Lightbridge back as they were so caring and fast before. As quick as we called them over the phone they already began reopening his file and helping us to close out the file with Kaiser. Within hours they were at the house ordering everything my Dad would need to be comfortable. We all immediately felt at ease… especially my Dad. Before the day was over he had a hospital bed and all other equipment and supplies. He was given meds and was free of his pain. The nurses were all so professional, helpful, and loving.
My Dad only lasted a week after he signed back on with Lightbridge but during that week we were met by the most compassionate and knowledgeable staff I have ever experienced anywhere in the medical field. I felt some sense of comfort in knowing that they were there anytime we needed them at any hour of the day or night.
We even had a scare where my Dad fell and my Mom couldn’t get him up. The RN quickly called 911 and sent out the fire department to put him back into bed and check him out.
On September 4^th he lost his battle with cancer… but the 24 hours prior to it we were met by RN Will who stayed up with us and my Mother all night making sure that my Dad was free of pain and safe. Then we were met in the morning by RN Sarah who my Dad just loved and thought she was so wonderful when he met her. And that is the day he choose to let go. Sarah was amazing. She not only cared for my Dad but was so kind and compassionate to everyone around the house that day. She taught me about how to check his vitals and the stages of death and what was happening with him. She knew I was in school and planning to go to nursing school.
It was through my experience with Lightbridge hospice and seeing exactly how they care for people that showed me that I want to become a hospice RN when I complete nursing school. I learned that I was given a special gift to stay calm, keep my emotions in check, and that the ultimate importance is the persons comfort and care. Everyone wants to be the nurse that helps bring life into this world… not everyone wants to help ease it out. The way I see it is its a gift… a rebirth and something beautiful to help someone transition.
I know we would have never gotten this experience with anyone other than Lightbridge. I am very grateful that they cared for my Dad and I am proud to say that I am a volunteer for the company.
If I ever had a situation where hospice was needed again… I wouldn’t second guess it for a moment. I would call lightbridge.

A friend recommended Light Bridge hospice for my mom and I can never thank them enough. Light Bridge was absolutely wonderful. Though my mom was already in an assisted living environment they sent their staff in regularly to make sure my mom’s sanitation needs were taken care of, their nurses visited twice a week, (always calling me first so I could meet them there if I was available), and they were quick to keep me up to date when my mom’s condition changed. On my mom’s final night the hospice nurse stayed with me to make sure my mom’s passing was as peaceful as possible. Light Bridge was everything a hospice should be. I hope to not need their services again for quite a while but when I do they will be the only hospice I call.
