Ehhhh, don’t understand all the hype. I’m guessing people around here don’t know really good Mexican food. Weird. Service was super quick and the interior is fun. The combo is a good deal since you get a fountain drink and 2 sides. Employees were friendly. Cilantro sauce/salsa was good. That’s all the positive I could come up with. Food was ehhh. The TJ dog was hard and old tasting… obviously had been sitting for a while. The TJ corn was not fresh tasting either… was it canned corn??? Never had canned corn but it definitely didn’t taste like fresh corn, that’s for darn sure! California burrito was dry and missing guac… never had it served without guac before but to each their own. Steak was rubbery. Not high quality ingredients, not fresh tasting at all. Either I came on a really really really bad day or this place is just trendy and a bunch of fake hype.

I came here with a friend that I haven’t seen for about 5 years. Wow did time flew by! She recommended this place, more like demand I tried this place before going home since I am never in San Diego. We got the Surfin’ California and Surf n Turf California Burrito. There was so many sauces that we got them all! Apparently certain sauces makes the burrito taste even better! haha. We didn’t come during peak hours so we basically got our food right away. We found a parking spot too, but it might be cause we came so late.

Tip: don’t wait in line, get there at 11:30a before the lunch rush. California burrito here was classically made but also didn’t make me hate myself after eating. It was full and hearty without the grease/fat feeling. Although, certainly wasn’t hungry for the rest of the day. Outdoor patio could use some work. Stools weren’t very comfy, and there wasn’t enough room out there for all the patrons. But class A food and that’s what matters.

Fantastic surfin California burrito. This is what makes this place great. The steak is tender the shrimp is big and juicy. And their secret chipotle sauce is unreal. Only downside is the messy salsa bar and the tiny location. It gets so crowded that stuff starts to get pretty grimy because of the congestion. Salsa bar is good not great. Just hope you don’t mind getting elbowed by people who are trying to get a fountain drink while you’re trying to grab some salsa because they’re literally up against each other in a very awkward way.

California surf n turf burrito was so good :3 can’t wait until I’m back in SD to try it again or something else. Super huge portions and real yummy ingredients. Got so full had to take a nap at a nearby park. YUM! Wish they had stuff like this in Irvine :(

The absolute best tacos I’ve ever had. I order both steak and chicken. The crispy cheese shell that’s layered inside your taco, and the avocado slices are what knocks these bad boys out of the world. Oh, and let’s not forget their special sauces. This places truly rocks– just don’t go hungry. It took about 30 minutes total to wait in line and receive your food. But the wait was well worth it. And great customer service!

I had the California burrito. It was pretty good, I liked that it had fries in it! The burrito was huge and the salsa bar was filled with tons of great options — I highly recommend the cilantro aioli. It wasn’t super authentic Mexican food, but I enjoyed the burrito.

This might be the best food I had during my visit to San Diego. The surf and turf burrito is good, but when you add the cilantro aioli it takes everything up a notch. Sooo good! Highly recommend it and I would definitely eat it again. Go during an off time to get the shortest line, but if you want to skip the line altogether order it to go(you can still get chips and salsas to go). I went at 2pm on a Sunday and it was about a 15 minute line, but there were lots of open tables to sit at. The décor inside is cool too. I agree with other reviews, they seriously need to label their salsa area and do a better job keeping it clean. It’s kind of a health concern right now.

wow this place is too good. my boyfriend and I decided to come for dinner and came in time before the dinner rush. the only downside to this place is how long you have to wait to order your food… if you come at a really long time the line wraps around onto the sidewalk. there’s only one person taking orders so the ordering time takes a while, but once you order and pay for your food, it comes out pretty quickly. and you get free chips while you wait! I think we stood in line for almost 30 minutes just to order and that was from the door to the register. my boyfriend and I both for the surfin California, which I highly recommend. and add the cilantro aioli and salsa(both from the salsa bar) and you’ll literally fall in love… it’s so good haha and the portion is really good too so you’ll be stuffed after. there’s a salsa bar by the soda fountain that has like 10 different types of salsa to choose from. I have no idea what each one was… I’ve worked in the food industry for years and you need to label your items for health/allergy reasons… but the cilantro aioli is really good on the burrito.(I’m pretty sure it’s that… I make the same sauce to put on my sandwiches and it tastes almost exactly the same). there’s always employees walking around cleaning tables and restocking items which I really liked so things were pretty clean. parking can be difficult since there’s a small lot on the side but space is limited so you may have to park on the street or across the street. the only downside to this location is the one register/really long wait to order and the parking, but you can’t win them all

Now I see why this place is famous. The surf n turf burrito is amazing. From the perfectly blended ingredients to soft flour tortillas with the right amount of fluff, this burrito was demolished by me within minutes. The lines are pretty long so be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes before placing an order. I highly suggest that you pick up the phone and call ahead. The staff were awesome as well. The lady who took my order was very polite, and somehow she figured it was my first time there. The place has all sorts of pictures and memorabilia on the walls to keep your mind entertained while you wait. I will def be back at this place next week when I’m back in San Diego.

My mouth is watering as I’m writing this review just thinking about the surfin california burrito. Definitely the best tasting grilled steak you’ll find at a taco shop. Quality you can taste at first bite. I recommend trying the surfin california burrito which is a combination of a surf and turf burrito and a california burrito. Other notables would be TJ hot dog, TJ corn, and the smackdown quesadilla. One of the many great things they have here is the sauces. One in particular is the cilantro-avocado(don’t know the exact name), but it’s the thick green sauce. Don’t get it. you’ll get addicted. Alright don’t say I didn’t warn you. What’s great is that they give you a side of chips for free while you wait for your order. What sets this place apart from a five star. Theirs not a designated parking lot so you have to share with the plaza next doors parking lot. If you aren’t lucky you have to park across the street and find metered parking. This place gets really busy and you’ll find the line coming out the front door and at times on the sidewalk. Not as spacious inside, prepare to get real close and friendly. Besides all of this, I still believe it’s worth it and worth a real good look!

THEBESTCILANTROSAUCEEVER! I absolutely LOVE this place that I came here twice during my 3 day stay in SD. I came here during 2am and also around 5PM another day. 2AM is definitely when all the ratchets come out and play after last call, so be prepared for that. We ordered: Surf and Turf Burrito: YUM! Their tortilla is SO good and great portions. It had steak, shrimp & avocado topped with super secret chipotle sauce & queso enchilado. Highly recommend! Drizzle the cilantro sauce and you’ll have a wild ride :) Tap Me Out Taco: Very good, portions are big also! It had grilled fajitas, jack cheese & avocado topped with poblano sauce & queso enchilado TJ Dog: Pretty good for $ 1.50! My boyfriend really loved it, it’s basically a dirty dog. Highly recommend this place and will definitely come back when I am in SD again.

The surf and turf burrito is yummy!!! :) I think it is a big portion for myself! :) One of the popular places in San Diego! It’s a «Lucha Libre» theme restaurant! The burritos were filled with fresh ingredients and I think it is a must if you are in the neighborhood! Very close to the San Diego Airport and it is on the bottom of the hill of mission hill(close to the 5 fwy).

I LOVELUCHALIBRE! Words cannot express how much this place means to me… Every San Diego trip must include Lucha, whether it be breakfast, lunch, or dinner. This place has never disappointed me! Parking: small parking lot for maybe 10 cars, street parking Service: Always friendly and helpful; Free chips :) Food: BURRITOS! I have tried their tacos, but I like their burritos better. I recommend the Surfin California Burrito & the El Jefe Burrito for breakfast. Sauces– recommend the GREENCILANTROSAUCE. That one is the . Get extra sauce cups!

I guess I’m gonna be that guy that says…“yeah it was ok but I don’t understand what the fuzz is all about” Deco: super cool. Unique and fun. That champion table is where you want to see. I was ready to fight for it but got intimidated by the three small children sitting there. Maybe next time. Sauces: a lot of them. For everyone. except for the ones that like really spicy food. And SD is known for providing that. Food: MEH… not bad but def not amazing. Portions are big yet the flavor is missing which makes you rely heavily on the sauce. While dedo and service gives it 3 stars, mediocre flavor takes 2 away. The experience was good yet this is not a spot j would stop back again. Specially how crazy busy it gets.

Features: –On our way out of San Diego, we stopped by this amazing taco shop so we could get our fix. Of course, we had to order their best, Surfin California Burrito. This burrito was huge, we shared it amongst two people. The burrito consisted of well cooked steak, fresh grilled shrimp, French fries, cheese, pico de gailo and their secret sauce. This $ 8.25 burrito was really delicious and boy, the steak was really good! –I tried the chicharron taco which came in a soft corn tortilla with crispy chicharron, avocado, and chili lime sauce. It was good, the avocado was fresh and the chicharron reminds me of the pork chips that I can get at the store. –The TJ corn was good. It was corn in a bowl with mayonnaise and chili basically. Nothing too special about this but definitely what I expected it to taste like. –Long line but fast! Lot’s of different salsas and sauces at the salsa bar. Improvement: –Due to the long line and its popularity, a lot of people were ordering and I think it can get pretty confusing. They called my name to pick up my order only to find that they were not ready. Other then that, nothing really bad that needs major improvement. Tips: –Order the Surfin California Burrito. The other popular one is the Surf and Turf Burrito but this one does not have fries. –They don’t let you sit while someone is ordering so don’t make this mistake as some people did. Just wait your turn to order and then you can sit at a table.

I love the décor here! The pink walls with the gold trim! Just my kind of place to grab a delicious taco! Parking can be a bit of a hassle in the small Parking lot next door, some stalls are marked for luche libre, some are designated for the business complex behind the taco shop. There is plenty of metered street parking across the street and they take credit cards! Sunday’s are free too! The surf and turf taco wasn’t as great as I had hoped. Quite bland. A few shrimp. The beef taquitos on the other hand were delicious. They were crispy and topped with a lot of guac and shredded lettuce and some cotija cheese. The salsa bar isn’t to be missed. Make sure to try a little bit of everything. I sure did. So many flavors. All delicious on top of my taquitos. They carry local beers on tap for cheap! $ 5 This was a fun stop and will be coming back but Ill be staying away from the surf and turf taco.

Now THIS is what you call a true California burrito joint! Lucha Libre is on fiyah! The numbers here on Unilocal don’t lie– this place is the real deal. With one evening left in San Diego and not a taco eaten, my friend decided to take me here to try one of their Surfin’ California burritos. For less than $ 8, you’re given an enormous burrito filled with the fanciest of fancies including carne asada, jumbo shrimp, and avocado. These three ingredients are enough to make anybody salivate. This burrito definitely had it going on! Oh, and how could I forget one key ingredient: FRIES. Yes, there is plenty of it, and it is going to take your burrito from zero to a hundred in seconds. After taking a few bites, I already knew I had fallen in love with their burrito. It is really good for the price and quality of food that ends up in your mouth. Eager to spice it up a bit? They have a sauce bar that features tons of different salsas that you can add to your burrito, or dip your complimentary chips into for further enjoyment. Even though I wasn’t finished with my burrito, I had already thought about ordering a second round to enjoy. Rest assured though– one burrito is going to be more than enough for one person, even if you end up inhaling it in seconds due to its deliciousness. Lucha Libre does burritos right, and I hope it continues to rock.

This place has such a cool vibe about it. I was in San Diego for a business trip and my colleague suggested we go so we did. It didn’t disappoint! First off to warn you it’s a cafeteria style place. So u wait in line to order then get ur food when they call u. We were lucky we only had to wait about 10 minutes but the line was super long after that and remained so during the time we eat our meals. My friend and I shared our meals. She ordered Surfin California(lighter version) with fries in the burrito and Undefeated seafood taco. Both were delicious and if you love seafood then u shud get one of these. Personally I didn’t care for the fries in the burrito though. I’m more of a traditional Mexican foodie so I order the Suplex quesadilla and the Queso taco w/chicken. These were my favourites for sure. The quesadilla was huge(warning). You really only need to order that or a burrito or two tacos. But not all which is kinda what we did. And it was way too much! LOL The Queso taco was very tasty as well They give u chips to try their salsa bar. The salsa were so good! Unfortunately we were so full we didn’t eat all our chips!

I LOVEEEEEEEEELUCHALIBRE!!! If you are heading to San Diego Air Port. definitely give Lucha Libre a try! Before hitting the Airport my roomies and I stopped by Lucha Libre on a friday night around 8pm and the line was not out the door like I had expected so thank god. Parking is absolutely horrible at this place. Either street parking or you can park in the tiny parking lot around the corner. What I Ordered: 1. Surfin’ California [Grilled Steak, Shrimp, Fresh French Fries, Avocado, Pico De Gallo, Cheese, & Super Secret Chipotle Sauce] –Oh em geeeeeee. Definitely hands down THEEE best burrito in San Diego that I have EVERRRRR tasted. I have had Lolitas(the birth of the carne asada fries) and Lucha Libre beat Lolitas HANDSDOWNNN. The burrito is STUFFED with meat and shrimp. But according to my roomate. they have downsized their burritos. Apparently they used to be TWICE the size that they are now… so I was slightly disappointed. But the flavor in the burrito definitely makes up for the decrease in size! –TIP: DEFINITELY get some chips. They have a HUGE variety of salsa. No. not watered down cheap flavorless salsa BUTREAL Chunky high quality salsa. My favorite salsa that they had was the mango salsa. You dont even need the chips! Heck I just started standing by the bar and refilling my container every 5 seconds and then shoving the entire thing in my mouth. It was SOOOOO delicious! The salsa does not taste cheap or watered down but instead flavorful and refreshing. Their normal tomato salsa is delicious too. Chunky and you can taste real tomato chunks. Definitely a great hit to your burrito. The mango salsa works really well with the surfin california burrito. The burrito has a chipotle taste that pairs really well with the semi sweet mango in the salsa. Overall Lucha Libre is a great taco/burrito place. Warning though. definitely not enough tables and the tables are all really small. This place is not really suited for LARGE parties over 5 people… because like I said… tables are SMALL and tables are scarce. They wont let you save tables unless you have ORDERED your meal already.

LUCHARANDEDOS A TRESCAIDASSINLIMITEDETIEMPO. ENESTAESQUINALAQUESADILLACONCARNEASADA. ENLAOTRALUCHARALASALSACHIPOTLE Y LASALSADECILANTRO The fight starts with the chipotle salsa attacking the carne asada quesadilla mercilessly. The quesadilla gets pinned, but whats this!!! A slice of avocado jumps out and attacks the chipotle sauce back. Oh the humanity. Quesadilla and Avocado are attacking the chipotle sauce. ONE! TWO!!! and the cilantro Sauce jumps in and punches the Quesadilla straight in the meat. The quesadilla stumbles and falls, the chipotle jumps to its defense but it’s useless, both salsas, and the quesadilla and avocado teams get attacked by an unknown contender. The microbrew!!! Come to have revenge on both parties, he pins them down with his hoppy goodness. ONE TWO THREE!!! DINGDINGDING You think the microbrew won didn’t you? But you’d be wrong. The only winner here is your mouthhole. Yeah you heard me. The food was so good and juicy that it would be a crime to call this a taco shop. It really is a gastro pub. Great beers, great food. Shitty parking. Thus the missing star.
