Established in 1992.

The Manchester Grand Hyatt was first built in 1992 with one tower, 40 stories high. The second tower was built in 2004, reaching 33 stories high. Executive Chef Suttichai «Sutti» Sripolpa:

Chef Sripolpa has been with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts for over 20 years and has served as the Executive Chef at the Grand Hyatt Dallas Fort Worth and most recently, the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort in Austin. Previous Culinary experience includes positions in Las Vegas, La Jolla and Torrey Pines. Amongst other prestigious recognitions, Suttichai was named Chef of the Year for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts worldwide in 2006. Chef Sripolpa grew up working in the ins-​and-​outs of his family’s restaurant in Thailand. After moving to the states in 1985, Sutti reestablished his passion for cooking; exploring advanced culinary concepts and leadership roles. Although Sripolpa’s cooking background stems from Asian influences, his culinary strength and focus is truly global cuisine with local ingredients.

I spent four nights at this fabulous hotel during a recent business trip to San Diego, and would recommend it highly to anyone planning a visit to America’s Finest City. This waterfront property, conveniently located next to the trendy Seaport Village and a short walk from the Convention Center and Gaslamp District, is one of the tallest buildings in the city, and as impressive inside as it is out.
From the extravagant lobby and spacious meeting spaces to the clean, comfortable guest rooms, everything about this hotel is first class. There are dozens of shops and restaurants within a five-​minute walk, and a fantastic multi-​use trail just outside the hotel continues for more than 3 miles along the Bay. The airport is a short taxi or Über ride away, and a light rail stop across the street provides convenient access to Old Town and the beaches.
While not as close to the ocean as anything on Coronado Island, the majestic Grand Hyatt is THE place to stay if you’re visiting San Diego for business, pleasure, or a little of both.

This is a special review that I want many to read and many to take advantage of. First off let me say THANK YOU to every single person that works at this hotel. From the concierge, valet, front desk, customer care, receptionist, house keeping, bell men, cashiers, managers, etc. it was an experience my family and I will never forget.
It was my daughter Mary Jane Gonzalez’s 1st bday. Very special day. I decided to book a room here and not just any room. The Kings corner suites in the higher floors with the ocean view. Amazing amazing room by the way. On the drive to San Diego I was emailed by Max and we were going back and forth on how it was my daughters 1st Bday and that if they can have balloons etc set up before we arrived. Max said no problem:) It was a surprise for mom and daughter:) they both had no clue where we were going. Mom kept asking where are we staying. I said Motel 6. She didn’t look too happy about that. Lol. I won’t even write what she said. Lol anyways so I tricked her and when we arrived she and I both were at ahhhhh!!! They greeted us checked in and went to the 28th floor and when we opened up the room it was like a dream. Very very I mean very nice. Not a bad way to spend our daughters 1st Bday. They had it all done up with balloons, cards, bears, cupcakes, balls, crayons, coloring books, it was amazing and one heck of a surprise for mommy and baby MJ:)
Mom brought the cake and we added the finishing touches to have our little birthday party there for our daughters 1st Bday.

We had such an amazing weekend here. We practically did everything except gym oops big no no lol. Next time. The jacuzzi and pool were great. The food, the coffee, the service outstanding. We got here Friday and that was MJ’s Bday Jan 22nd 2016. After we sang happy bday in the room. We went to have dinner downstairs at the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate MJ’s bday there as well. We sang to her and she got a sundae with a candle and made a wish with mommy’s help. I’m very happy with Grand Hyatt SD. They made this weekend for MJ’s 1st Bday even more super I mean super special. Thank you everyone.

This is by far one of my favorite hotels. I stayed here for a week due to a business meeting and conference I attended. The name says it all because the hotel is definitely grand! I visit San Diego occasionally so this will now be my go-​to hotel.

This was home for a week long convention meeting went well DO Not stay in rooms near elevators. The room shook from roar of elevators going strong most of night especially going to and from the Too of Hyatt Bar. Otherwise staff friendly, Bar pricy Go to Richard Walkers for breakfast. Awesome coffee

Had wonderful experience at our last stay at Grand Hyatt! I originally booked corner view specific with high floor they said it would be 25 floor or higher. When I arrived they gave me 10 floor. Being upset that they mislead me and I would have just stayed at hard rock.
Jonny Jackson helped me out and gave me better accommodation by upgrading me to signature suite for a small upgrade fee. This was very nice of him as actually we loved the corner room, but thought to give it a try and appreciated the offer and gesture to go above to make a loyal long time Hyatt rewards member.

Great experience. Clean and modern room. We had a great partial bay view. Friendly staff. We drank the bottled water in the room (gasp!) and the guy at checkout said that he wouldn’t charge us :) BEAUTIFUL views of SD, Coronado… Nice pool with a great view and modern fitness center. I will absolutely return and would prefer to stay here over any other hotel in SD. Parking — $ 35 with in and out privileges — I hate paying for parking but there was really no other option — a cheaper lot ($ 25) was several blocks away and it was cold and raining when we arrived. We also did not want to lug a bunch of stuff. Parking is a problem anywhere in the downtown area.

Great location. Stayed in room 1730 Saturday night. Beautiful views but dirty windows. Nicely refurbished bathroom but they could be cleaner. Comfortable mattresses but off and on air-​conditioner blows across your face and comes on and goes off every 2 – 3 minutes, valet or self parking but valet gets the first two floors and the daily charge is $ 32, nice size flat screen but the bracket is broken and the it hangs at an angle. I’ve stayed here 2 – 3 times and I stay here for the price and I get just what I pay for…

I stayed at the Manchester Grand Hyatt this past weekend for my friends bachelorette party.
This Hyatt property is centrally located in Seaport Village and is close by many restaurants and bars, and a short über/​taxi to/​from the airport. It’s also close to the Gaslamp District so it was perfect for all of our plans for the bachelorette. The hotel itself is beautiful and lives up to its name — it’s definitely grand! I wasn’t expecting the hotel to be so huge, it reminded me of a hotel in Las Vegas. Definitely visit the Top of The Hyatt Sky Lounge for beautiful views of San Diego and cocktails.
Our rooms were all on the same floor which was extremely convenient. The beds were so comfortable, the rooms were clean, and there was plenty of room for four girls to share. The view from our room was absolutely beautiful and a dream to wake up to. The only complaint I have about the room was that a couple of the lights went out which made it difficult to get ready and that the hotel only provides coolers, not refrigerators, in the rooms. Thankfully when we requested a fridge, it was complimentary, but they should really make it clear what they are providing in the rooms, as we had leftovers and brought snacks for the weekend.
The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Check-​in was a breeze and on the day we checked out they held our luggage no problem. Our rooms were cleaned in the afternoon and any requests we had were attended to quickly.
I would definitely recommend staying here and will keep the Hyatt in mind on my next trip to San Diego.

I recently stayed at the Hyatt for my anniversary.
I have to give them 5 stars because they came through in every way possible during my stay
From the time that I drove up the valet/​bell men and check in host were very professional and polite. The bellman even remembered my name after I came down from my room and walk past him.
They gave me a room with a view which I had requested for my anniversary five stars is the only rating that I could give them thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

The room was nice and clean. Great views. Room service good, housekeeping good. Our heater was blowing cold air. Repair guy came but basically we were stuck with it. He said to keep fan on low so it doesn’t gets as cold?! Nice. The water in the bathroom pipes would always gurgle and it sounded like someone was knocking or banging the wall or door. It was irritating as it wasn’t just our room. Outdoor Hot tub had warm water, second tub was shut down.

I love staying here. I’ve stayed at different Hyatt’s in Hawaii and Malibu and never had anything bad to say about their service.
They clean daily and ask politely before starting. Although there is a fridge, ours dos not seem to refridgerate our drinks.
Parking is $ 30.00 a day. No other parking nearby unless you are lucky.

I’ve been here a few times and they have it all here. This place is mammoth and kept up and run so well for the volume of people they take care of. The location is perfect with one hell of a view. The rooms are über clean and maintained well. The pool area is very nice and I like to come to their bar on the side and play pool. The only downside is the price of parking. This is one of the great places to stay in San Diego.

Have stayed here several times over the past eight years. Have left five star reviews in the past however this review reflects our stay September 23rd 2014 Our Honeymoon.)
After arriving a day early we were not advised that the spa was closed for renovation. My wife was made aware of this when she called to book the two of us. We were also not advised that one of the two pools were also closed for construction thus making it necessary to used the pool in the other building. On night three we were greeted in the Jacuzzi by eight drunken Latinos with beer bottles and beer cans all over the surrounding area. Their foul language and rowdy behavior needless to say caused not only my wife and I but another couple to leave.
I notified hotel security and from our room we could see that they did not arrive for twenty five minutes. The maintenance worker picked up they debris while still present. Security finally arrived but to hour surprise these guys were allowed to stay in the Jacuzzi.
We were contacted via landline after our stay and offered an upgrade upon our next stay.
My wife and I were planning to return for three days in February of 2016 and I was told Kyle would be returning my phone call to assist in booking and an upgrade. Unfortunately Kyle
felt an email instead of a phone call telling us that our dates were booked was adequate.
Big disappointment. We made other arrangements for our stay in San Diego. Luckily, my wife was born and raised in Pacific Beach and has the contacts who helped us find lodging.
Needless to say we will no longer be staying here again.

The upper level staff reached out to me about my concerns with their club lounge. They were sincere and addressed each of my concerns in a professional manner. Omitting those previously mentioned issues means this is for sure a four star hotel. I will return in anticipation for the best this hotel has to offer.

We had our Marine Corps Ball at the Grand Manchester Hyatt and would definitely do it again here.
Our Standard Suite had a spectacular view of the San Diego Bay and the pool below.
Our room was well appointed, but lacked attention to detail in cleaning in and around the restroom skink and shower glass.
The service from the front desk, the bell hops, and the banquet servers were exceptional and personal.
We enjoyed our delightfully hot and delicious banquet food. We have attended three Marine Corps balls this year and the food from the previous two were generally room temperature and bland. The morning buffet is simply awesome and the omelette of the day, the Chorizo Omelette, was so good!
We were enjoying our hotel stay so much we utilized the late check-​in so we can take advantage of other amenities of the hotel and relish the experience.

I would almost give Manchester Grand Hyatt five stars, but there was a screw up the night I was here.
The screw up was related to an item that was supposed to be delivered as a part of wedding weekend welcome bag the first night, that was never sent out. I will give them props for how it was nice to see it on the online check out as a reminder on the third day though. I then had to call and ask them to drop it off before leaving the hotel.
This hotel is pretty expensive, but maybe worth the high price. I stayed here Labor Day Weekend and enjoyed it. The views are spectacular (harbor tower and seaport tower) and the amenities offered here are plentiful! The hotel venue is very nice for parties with the ballrooms and the food served at the at their Coronado Ballroom was delicious.
I would definitely come back again when wanting to splurge as it was such a beautiful hotel inside and out.

My friend who lives in San Diego is going away for a few years and wanted to have a weekend staycation before leaving the country. We chose this place mainly because of where it is located. The rest was icing on the proverbial cake.
The only bummer was that we only stayed for one night.
My mission when staying at an «urban» hotel is to not leave the premises. Of course that would mean that there has to be enough activities and such to keep me entertained so I don’t have to look elsewhere for entertainment.
Our suite wasn’t ready when we checked in despite them sending an sms that it would be. So we left our luggage at the bellhop and went to the sports bar for drinks. We ended up having an awesome time. Our server Gerard was pure perfection. He managed to put up with 5 unruly drunk girls swimmingly.
By the time our room was ready we didn’t want to leave the bar, but the fun transferred upstairs. Our suite was fantastic. If it had a full kitchen I would legit live there. The view was great. We got to watch people swim in the pool on the left and the sunset on the right.
A few minutes after we got to our room, the concierge (didn’t get his name but he was very nice) dropped off a bottle of champagne as a welcome gift. He also came back with strawberries and chocolate. I was instantly won over.
The rest of our stay was smooth sailing. We spent some time downstairs at the bar while a musician was doing a set. Regretfully, I didn’t get his name. I was too busy drinking to walk up and buy a cd.
*if someone from the Hyatt reads this, please find out who it was and let me know. He played Saturday (10⁄10) night*
We realized well after we left that we accidentally left something important so I called to see if housecleaning found it. Unfortunately, there was no sighting of it, but the people I dealt with over the phone were so professional and genuinely nice. They were the perfect example of how people in customer service should be when dealing with someone needing help. Every member of the staff we bumped into were highly professional and helpful. Special s/​o to Bryant and the rest of the front desk folks for everything.
P. S. We left once. At 3am and only because everything else in the hotel was close and we found a hookah bar just half a mile away that was still open.
I love this place and can’t wait to come back.

We had a great stay at the Hyatt over Labor Day, 2015. We got a killer deal through travelocity and were shocked at how nice our room and view were. Clear shot over the bay, Sea Port Village and all the air craft carriers. Our room was decorated modern and had all the luxuries I would expect from a single King room, (except for a bathroom fan?). We slept awesome each night, the bed was extremely comfortable and the pillows were so soft and fluffy.
The lobby was impressive too, very long and lots of nice finishes. We never ate in the bars or spent much time anywhere except our room or the pool, too much to see in San Diego! Two pools both can get extremely busy. The only reason I don’t give more stars is that I would expect a bigger pool for the size of this Hotel and there was no complimentary breakfast, juice, cereal… Nothing. The adult pool was a great retreat, but one day there were a ton of drunk people and it felt more like Cancun or something. The other pool was busy as hell and finding a chair during prime time was no easy task. Unfortunate there 40th floor bar/​lounge area was closed, I would have loved to see the bay from that vantage point.
If you can get a good deal you really can’t go wrong with this location, it’s perfect for getting around everywhere in San Diego!

Great venue for a big corporate conferences. My company always have their annual national sales conference here and this year was my first year. They rented out the whole second floor and the exhibit hall.
2nd floor: conference rooms– very big and clean. Rooms were properly equipped with everything, and the rooms were set up right.
Exhibit hall: it was set up with booths and breakfast/​lunch. For some reason the whole exhibit hall smells like sewage. The breakfast was good and so was dinner. Drinks were awesome and flowing.
Hotel bar: very expensive but that’s the Hyatt for you. They do have a daily beer deal.
Restaurant: I’m thinking it’s the same food they served for our reception ball. I also had another meeting reception and they served salad with chicken with a bunch of interesting ingredients. They had mandarin, macadamia nut, papaya, strawberries over a lime vinaigrette. It was superb. Then the reception dinner we had a quarter of a salad wedge, Brie cheese and peaches. It was one of the best salads I had. For the entrees it was a surf and turf. The steak was a filet and cooked perfectly. The fish on the other side was a bit dry. They dressed it with mangos and some salsa. It also had a potato cake. The dessert came in 3 mini desserts. All very rich chocolate and decadent.
Food for this hotel was good, very comparable to a good restaurant.

My husband and i decided to stay at this hotel because we had the experienced with the Hyatt in Palm springs before and it was great .
From the moment i called the hotel to ask my thousand questions the girl on the phone was really nice and she was trying to help me out about our view and for the highest floor and she even gave us free internet for the 1 night we stayed here .
When we arrived at the hotel, when we checked in the people at the front greeted us and were very friendly they told us what was around there to eat as well .
I cant remember the whole story to be honest with you cuz we stayed only 1 time and this was the last year but all i could say its the it was worth it and on our next visit to San diego we are hoping we could stay here again :)

This last time we went to SD May 17 2015 we stayed at the Hyatt cuz they were having an special for cash advanced so it was very cheap comparing to the regular price only bad thing is theres no cancelation when that special its on.
Everything is walking distance from here and once again the staff was amazing big Thank you to Miriam the receptionist cuz she was very helpfull and sent us to Top of the Hyatt which it was amazing !!! We had an amazing time in SD :)

Wir haben an einer Messe in diesem Hotel teilgenommen und auch direkt hier übernachtet. Die Organisation der Messe, welche von Hotelseite ausgeführt wurde war leider mangelhaft, aber ich versuche mal nur das Hotel als Übernachtungsgast zu beurteilen.
Das Hotel ist sehr groß, da es oft für Messen, Veranstaltungen und Kongresse genutzt wird. Dennoch ist auch der «Urlaubsfaktor» recht hoch. Der Sport, Spa und Poolbereich ist entsprechend groß und das Hotel liegt fast direkt am Wasser (allerdings kein Strand). Es gibt diverse Ausflugsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe, oder können zumindest vom Hotel aus gebucht werden.
Das Personal ist durchweg freundlich gewesen. Das Hotel ist trotz seiner Größe sehr sauber und gepflegt. Die Zimmer ebenfalls. Zudem sind die Zimmer recht groß, so dass man auch mal Besuch empfangen kann und Platz hat sich für eine Woche oder länger einzurichten.
Leider habe ich das Hotel inkl. dem gesamten Drumherum als sehr teuer empfunden. Das Frühstücksbuffet liegt in seiner günstigsten Version bei 25.99 $.
Alles in allem ist mein Fazit gut, jedoch ist der Preis sehr hoch.
