Dr. Jennings has no tact and is very unprofessional. She is very bold, abrasive, and insulting. I do not recommend this doctor.

Why did I not read the reviews before going to her?! Over the summer, I did not have insurance but needed a check-​up in order to continue my birth control. She then suggested further testing. I was told it would be $ 200 for the testing. I paid for the testing and thought the visit was over. Then, they called with testing results and wanted me back. I couldn’t afford to go back in. Fast forward to April, I get a call from collections saying I haven’t paid some company called Pacific Rim. Come to find out, that’s who Mary sends tests to. I explained to Mary’s receptionist and Pacific Rim that I had received no statements in the mail, and no phone calls regarding this charge. I then explained I had PAID the $ 200 they were asking. Come to find out, Pacific Rim charges the uninsured ANOTHER $ 200 and had my address wrong for my bills. Neither office would reduce the charges and after a whole month of trying to have one of them help me and understand my situation, I ended up paying the $ 200. I will never use Mary Jennings or Pacific Rim Pathology again. They made 1 visit to their office a nightmare for the whole month of April, half a year later and take no responsibility. It’s not worth the risk to go there. There are much better options in a city like San Diego.

A friend recommended her to me and it was down hill from there. Wish I would have read the reviews years ago! WORST EXPERIENCE at the gyno EVER, and this beats the time a gyno opened the door on me when I was changing to chuck a prescription at me.
Not only did Dr. Jennings keep requiring me to go back for treatment on abnormal cells, even though it never seemed to get better, she kept dinging me with massive bills. Massive because she never sent them to my address, but rather straight to collections! By the time the collections notices came it was too late to get my insurance to reimburse them. It’s been almost two years since I last saw her, and when I left her office that day I specifically asked «do I owe anything else, will there be any bills coming?» because my last bill had gone to collections, only to receive a collections notice today! So I can kiss $ 100 goodbye in late fees, and who knows what it has done to my credit score, along with paying for treatment that didn’t help.
I should have known someone that uses pen and paper to keep appointments organized was missing something.
How is this lady still in practice? Especially with Planned Parenthood next door?
I learned my lesson, just because insurance covers it and it’s close to home, doesn’t mean it is going to be good.

I did not have a long wait time and at first she was friendly, but I felt she was very rude and she made a very snide comment regarding my husband. She also completely cold-​shouldered me and didn’t respond to my question after we left the room – i thought she was writing me a prescription as she had not told me that I needed to pick up the paper from her office the following week. Very negative experience for many reasons. She treated me like an idiot

I’ve reviewed before but wanted to follow up with some new information. Since I left Dr. Jennings, I have been 100% happier with my OBGYN experience. When I transferred files, the new OBGYN was shocked at the procedure Dr. Jennings had used on me when she said she needed to remove «abnormal cells» on my pap smear. It turns out– when they sent out the colposcopy, all of the cells turned out to be normal!!! Dr. Jennings performed the procedure anyways which my new doctor said was unnecessary. Furthermore, the procedure she used has not been «best practice» for awhile, according to my new doctor. Thank god I didn’t continue seeing her.
STAY AWAY!

I read the Unilocal reviews before I came but needed an appt ASAP so just dismissed them thinking «Who cares, if it’s in and out.»
Should not have ignored. Planned Parenthood is next door. GO THERE INSTEAD if you can.
I must second other reviews I read: horrible bedside manner in that every question was met with a snarky comment and a look like «are you an effing idiot?!» Ex: I asked if different birth control would be better for my situation and she responded «Why would that work/​make a difference?» I DONT KNOW, YOU’RE THE DOCTOR, EXPLAIN WHY. Which leads me to my next point, her answers were vague. Basically just, «Don’t question my authority, just go without the answer or you’ll get more snark.»
She does push the Gardisil on you. Even after her nurse asked «Would you like to discuss Gardisil» and I said «No.» I think the comment for an unrelated issue about my long-​term extremely serious boyfriend meant to her that THAT was the reason I was holding off on getting it so she said «Despite that, at the rate things are going these days that won’t last.» My brush off despite her persistence might have been what lead to the snark seen above.
She ended the appointment with an «Alright…» No «Nice to meet you,» no «have a good one,» no «I hope that works out» or «you’re free to leave,» no «the lady at the front will help you…» Socially retarded.
I’m not saying she’s not smart, I’m just saying she’s just not for someone who has ANY questions or has not received Gardisil. If you need birth control refill, I’m sure she’s a quick in and out. Seeing as how, yes the waiting room was empty, because she scares all her patients away.
You know that feeling you get after an argument with someone? All the things you’d wish you’d said? You should not leave a doctor’s office feeling that feeling.

I was referred to Dr Jennings by a friend, and I’m glad I did. I used to go to IGO in La Jolla and they suck!
It’s easy to call and book an appointment right away with Dr Jennings, arrive on time, get seen on time. I literally wait less than 15 minutes to be seen when I arrive for my appointments. She’s able to answer all my questions with my concerns about my health.
And the nurse is super nice.
I do wish her office was a bit closer to where I live, but it’s worth driving to her office since my last experience with previous PCM’s weren’t that great.

I read all of these one star ratings and had to think… these women have to be very young or insecure. Dr. Jennings is a very good and very smart doctor. In the 5 or so years I’ve seen her there was never a question whether about medicine or not that went unanswered. Her mind is going non-​stop thinking about her patients. I’ve seen her very serious. I’ve seen her smile. Yes, I’ve even seen her laugh. What she is not is a baby-​sitter or a mind-​reader. Someone thought she was cold because THEY didn’t know what to do with a urine sample? What a child. What she is is a good doctor who genuinely cares about the women she sees. I live in Escondido and her office is in Pacific Beach… not even convenient. But I go there because I know her abilities as doctor and I know she cares. You want a kinder person try being a kinder person. If you want someone to help you… tell them what you need. You have a problem… you need too learn how to handle the situation. Stop sobbing and learn to communicate with people or you will always be in the same situation… you will never like anyone!

Billing department = horrible. Sends past due bills after you already paid! and then proceeds to somehow charge your account repeatedly after that!
Basically they DO NOT have their S*** together. RUDE, UNHELPFUL.

I used to live in the PB area, so I picked this office and Dr Jennings– it was convenient. I also wanted a female OBGYN, so I thought this would work out great. I had no other doctors to compare her to, so I just figured this is how all OBGYN’s were. That was wrong.
I stayed with this office for 3 years. I dreaded going for my check-​up every year. And whenever it was time to refill my prescription, it was such a hassle! At least 3 times, I couldn’t get them to refill it in time, and it caused a lot of problems. Not once did the office apologize or sound the least bit remorseful.
The office staff is not friendly, I do not feel welcome in there, and the doctor could care less if I was her patient. She does not ask me questions, and when I ask her something, it’s always a one-​word answer and in a tone that sounds as if she’s talking to a child. I get the impression that she does not enjoy her profession and is ready to retire.
One day I was in the office waiting to see the doctor, and the assistant was cursing and yelling at someone on the phone. Then hung up and continued to curse and yell at the woman she was working with. It was more than unprofessional– it was uncomfortable.
I finally decided that I couldn’t go back there anymore. I took my chances starting all over with a new doctor in La Jolla. I am so glad I did! Dr. M Buchi is a wonderful doctor. I would recommend her to anyone!

She only gets a star because I have to give one and I thought that the technician was nice. They needed a urine sample when I went and I got really sketched out because I came out of the bathroom and no one was around for me to give it to and I was given no instructions for what to do with it. While standing in the hallway like an idiot, Jennings is in her office reading a newspaper and sees me and doesn’t say a word. Finally a technician came around and told me to put my sample on the counter on a aper towel that was there. I asked if there was a marker for me to put my name on it because someone else’s sample was already there and was told I didn’t need one. The technicians are only human, what if the samples had gotten mixed up? Did not like Jennings or that place AT ALL.

I wish I’d checked Unilocal before going to Dr. Jennings. I chose her because she was close to my home, and I didn’t think it really mattered much. I was so wrong. She really is cold, and I felt she was condescending. My husband is a physician, and I was so surprised by her conduct.
I had to come back for a repeat because the first sample was not good. No problem, these things happen. But I wanted to be sure everything was okay. On my way out, I overheard her talking about me to her nurse. Very unprofessional.
Later, I tried calling the get my Rx info, and the receptionist hung up on me. I really can’t believe this sort of service. I would not and did not go back.
The one plus: I didn’t have to wait long for the appointment or in the waiting room. In hindsight, that should have told me something…

I would never return to her again.
I visited Dr. Jennings because she was the closest provider to where I lived when I first moved to SD.
Throughout the duration of the appointment she PUSHED a specific birth control pill on me when I had stated several times I was not sexually active at the time and did not want to be on hormonal birth control. She also pushed me to get the HPV vaccine– when I told her I was going to go home and look into it and most likely return to get it, she spent a long time trying to convince me to say yes on the spot.
I went to her with a list of uncomfortable symptoms I’d been having for a few months (I suspected ovarian cysts) and ended up just getting an annual and some other tests done– without even being CLEAR on what she had actually done at the appointment other than the annual…
I know you’re supposed to speak up to doctors & voice your concerns but she literally left me speechless afterward with the way she went about the appointment.
I was literally so busy repeating to her «no, I don’t want to be on the pill for now» and «okay, I will look into getting the vaccine» and then listening to her ARGUE with me on both of those points that I couldn’t even think straight, let-​alone remember why I’d gone there in the first place. It was a really awful experience to feel like that, especially with my legs in stirrups. I really hope this helps some ladies… definitely choose a different doctor if you can.

I visited Dr. Jennings once and only once. Her bedside manner left me cold. Between barging in the room without knocking (um, hello… I could still be changing), changing my birth control when I told her I liked to one I had previously been on, and belittling me for choosing not to a treatment she suggested, I wouldn’t go back if you paid me.

I’ve been to Dr. Jennings twice now, and both times I DID feel like she didn’t care about me or my questions at all. She vaguely answered questions, and when I mentioned that I had some questions about other forms of birth control, she said we could discuss it later, and then left the room and never came back. I honestly did not even know the appointment was over and was waiting for her for a few minutes before I decided to peek my head out and check with the receptionist.
Getting a 1 month refill on birth control was a nightmare, i had to set up an appt, which was fine, but then they screwed it up and i had to repeatedly call the pharmacy and Dr. Jennings office to get it all taken care of. At this point, I was ready to look for another Dr, but out of lazyness (she’s close to my house, and she is able to make fairly quick appointments), I kept my appt with her. On the day of my appointment I forgot (this was my fault) about my appointment, BUT, i didn’t get a reminder call before like i do with EVERY other Dr, and even for hair appointments. Today I got a bill in the mail for $ 35 for a missed appointment. I understand that when people miss it’s inconvenient, but I never dreamed that I wouldn’t get a reminder call. I called and they did cancel the bill (a «one time courtesy» for forgetting appointments), and said that they only give reminder calls if you request it. My question: How would I know that??? No one ever said I needed to request a reminder call for appt’s. I went to Planned Parenthood instead and was way happier than I was with Dr. Jennings. They answered my questions and were very helpful.

I just went to Dr. Jennings recently and it was a horrible experience. They are so unorganized and unprofessional. I have been there only a few times, but this was my last.
The doctor is always late, and usually you are there for almost an hour, for a 5 minute appointment!
She is so quick to get in and out that you don’t even have time to ask her any questions.
I do not recommend her at all.

I live in San Francisco and still sometimes wonder if it wouldn’t be worth my while to come back and visit San Diego so I can still see Dr. Jennings instead of my doctor here.
It’s not that my doctor in San Francisco isn’t skilled, she’s fantastic, but when getting a checkup on something as personal as your lady parts, the last thing you want is to feel like a Ford on the assembly line.
That’s where Dr. Jennings really stands out. I was a student when she was my doctor, and when I visited her office, she was a teacher, a therapist, a mother, and a friend. I never felt like a number to her and most of the time, I could get a same day — or at the very least same week — appointment. The longest I ever waited to see her was 15 minutes. I think we all know what kind of saving grace that can be (especially when you have to get back to work or class!).
I wish there were more doctors like her.
