Melody is definitely a modern looking place to Karaōke. They have matching music videos and a full menu for food. It’s private karaōke so you and your friends get your own room to sing/party in. The only downside was that they didn’t have a lot of songs(compared to other karaōke places in convoy). There’s a ton of parking(which is rare in convoy haha).

This place scared me alittle, not because of the singing. The atmosphere is very dark and seemed unkempt. Upon arrival we were not greeted by the door, had to go to the bar for private room arrangements. Went on a friday night and a decent room was available. Was quickly shown in and then left to wonder how the karaōke machine worked?! It shouldve been explanatory but was not as all the buttons were in a foreign language. The machine was from the 80’s giant!!! Not something im used too, they need a major update. On the upside they had a call button that i had to use several times inorder to get instructions phew! Song selections for the most part are up to date and they have strobe lights!!! Yay! Service however was hard to get, took them over 10mins to bring waters and menus. Ended up ordering kimchi bulgolgi fries(so spicy!!!) shared it with three friends and unable to finish that monster! Again that call button was convient, but sadly the staff did not come after we ordered food. We called for refills and they never came(this was refills of water). There menu of spirited drinks were limited as well. I wanted to order a glass of wine from there 4 choices and they talked me out of it. Inconvenient to order a glass because then they have to open a bottle that will just sit.(take it off the menu and dont get my hopes up). Dont use the bathroom in this place, im short and was still hitting the stall door sitting down wtf? And so unclean… Random water and paper everywhere. This place gets a three because of decent prices and that they were friendly.

Haha this place was so fun! $ 20 an hour for a small room that can fit up to 6 – 7 people. Each room gets 2 mics. There was also a complimentary basket of popcorn. They had a decent selection of English songs. We were there for about 2 hours or so and our song list never ended. The only thing that I would complain about was that they never asked if we needed anything to drink? We were not given any water. The thirst was real!

We stopped by 2 other locations before we decided to settled in. How can you not like this place? They charge $ 20(cheapest one I’ve found around Convoy area) and they served food and drinks. Their songs selection isn’t bad and had plenty to choose from.

LOVEIT!!! Their song selection system is so easy to work with. There are so many English songs as well as Chinese songs!!! My friends and I had so much fun. Most other KTV only has good deal during happy hour, but Melody has such a good deal even at night!!! Plus their lamb skewer is the BOMB!!! it was so good that I forgot to take a pix before I ate it. Sighhhhh…

Melody Karaōke… such a new love and hopefully not just a fling. Of course calling for reservations on Saturday night for Karaōke can be difficult. I tried Karaōke 101(wanted us to pay up front to hold a spot), Chorus, Muzen, and KTV were booked solid. For those that don’t know what Korean or Asian Karaōke is… it is karaōke in a private room. You can sing your heart out to those you choose to invite in this private room. I called Melody to reserve a room at 10pm and they said they had room! I mentioned we would have 6 people, and they said it would be about $ 25/hour after tax for a small room. We came in and apparently, one of the employees had double booked so our room was not available. I was a little peeved, but they saved the day by offering us the VIP room(very large room) at $ 35(the price for a medium room), instead of $ 50(price for the VIP room) Although we technically had to pay more, they were nice enough to offer us that price so screw mad Fridays, and bring it on Fabulous Friday! The room was very large… it could easily fit 15 people. Here are some quick tidbits –A lot of good song selections, not too much Country selections –Enough classic and modern hits for 1 – 2 hours. They don’t have new songs… i. e I couldn’t find the Weeknd for example, and some classic hits like«In The End» by Linkin Park. It was random, what you would find from popular artists you swearrrr their song would be there. –Great selection of Boy Band songs –95% of the videos were real actual music videos, and not the weird old scenery or girl posing in front of a car videos against a Sam Smith song. –You can«follow» or do «original», i. e you can sing with the actual singer or just sing alone to the Melody(do I get points for using the business’ name here??). Original is great for some backup assistance if you feel like you can’t sing(me, haha). –Fruit plate comes with the VIP room –Two Mics, tambourines available outside –Sound system was superb. You can hear voices distinctly. –BYOB available with a corkage fee! They do provide glasses with the fee. Fee depends on amount of bottles. No hard liquor. We had two bottles of wine and 6 beers = $ 15. From the way it sounds, they don’t have a set price on exactly how many bottles = x amount of dollars for the corkage fee. They just wing it. –They do serve alcohol and food here if you would like to order from Melody(2nd bonus point for using their name). All in all, I really liked Melody. I think if they had more of a selection of English songs, especially most recent ones they would easily get 5 stars. Place is clean and price is lower than the other top Karaōke private room places in the vicinity. Original music videos are a plus! Go ahead, sing your heart out!

The most amazing karaōke place in San Diego! If you want to have an amazing night and make a lot of freakin noise then this is the place. If you need anything, just talk to Tony and he will hook it up! I highly recommend this fine establishment for any group looking to have an epic evening. Yeah man!

Awesome karaōke place if you’re Chinese. The selection for English songs were quite limited but the overall atmosphere was great. There’s plenty of private rooms and the quality of sound and microphones were awesome.

I really had no expectations for this place. In fact I had very low expectations. The only reason why we ended up here was because every other place in the area was booked till midnight on a Sat night. We called and they had rooms available. Located in the corner of the same plaza as Roadem BBQ this place is a Chinese karaōke place so there more emphasis on Chinese songs than Korean as most people are used to. However they do have a large selection of English songs. There is no song book here, you choose on the computer. The computer is in English but it’s not the most user friendly thing to use. It took us a while to figure out but the staff are more than happy to help. The rooms are clean, big, and I think are a bit cheaper than other places on Convoy. One of the biggest pluses here is they they sell beer! That was one of the main reasons why I loved this place. Being a bit buzzed is always plus when singing. Overall this place was a very good spot to karaōke. Who would have guessed how legit it was!

Just had a blast singing here last night for my birthday! Sure, most of the songs are just the music videos with the singers voice slightly muted, but that’s just a challenge for the karaōke singers to sing louder! My family, friends, and I have been coming to this karaōke place for quite a while and we enjoy it every time! People that complain about not knowing it’s BYOB, read other reviews, look online when you reserve a room, and there’s stores all around that area so just go to any of those and then come back with whatever! Even our first time here we knew it was bring your own stuff because we saw it online. The rooms are a good size. We had a party of 20 last night for my birthday and the room we reserved accommodated for all of us to fit! If you tell them how big your party is then they will work with you. If you don’t know how to use the system in the rooms, just ask! If you walk in and don’t say it’s your first time, they will obviously assume you’ve been there before and just take you to the room and leave. All we had to do for our first time was tell them it was our first time there. Sound systems could use a bit of a check up, though. One microphone is significantly louder than the other. The songs aren’t all on the same sound level(so some will be super loud and others will sound normal). Other than those, everything else is pretty good! Great place for groups and to just have fun!

Dismal. Booked a room at 2pm days in advance on a Sunday and they weren’t open. Called 3 times, no one answered, we could hear the phone ring from inside their place. Wasted over 30 min to see if someone would open the door. Finally someone decided to show up. Talk about tardiness. They didn’t give much explanation or compensation for their tardiness. Their sign in the front door said be back at 2pm. Really shows you the lack of care for their customers. Although they have good sound system and modern karaōke setup, I’d really advise against coming here. It was pretty empty after we left our session. Seems like others already got the memo about this place.

1. Private rooms with two mikes and equipment that is up to par, such as touch screens to select songs. 2. English song selection was somewhat scant. There was a nice selection of «new songs» with stuff that’s playing on the radio now like Miley Cyrus, Macklemore, OneRepublic, and an oddly extensive selection of Taylor Swift songs, including unreleased tracks. When searching the catalog, we struck out a few times. My Singing Companion, who prefers classic hits, only found one Simon and Garfunkel song, and it was the ACOUSTIC version of The Sound of Silence with very minimal backup. We were laughing our butts off trying to keep our place in the song. Great selection of Chinese songs, which proved to be a riot as we improvised our way through not being native speakers. 3. I do like that there was not a lot of backup in the videos, so that you could really just hear your own voice when you sing. A huge plus. 4. Customer service was basically non-existent late on a Monday night. The sole staff member checked us in but didn’t show us how to use the equipment, and we had to figure it out on our own. He seemed more concerned with rushing back to the front desk than anything. 5. No idea that this place allowed BYO, that there was free water or anything, as customer service was minimal. Would have been nice to know. Thank you Unilocalers for your reviews.

I have no idea why this place is rated so high. Going here is like looking up youtube videos at home and singing along to them– but you have to pay. They don’t have real karaōke tracks, they just have the music video with the volume of the vocals slightly lowered and the lyrics on screen. The rooms are boring and set up kind of awkwardly. One row of couches that faces the 1 tv on the other side of a rather narrow room. Everyone just sits next to each other in a long row. Really doesn’t facilitate much fun . Workers had very broken english and actually just talked to my friends in Chinese. Thank god they were with us! They gave us some free beers because it was someones birthday but they were room temp. The other beers my friends ordered were also room temp. Chorus is a way better option than here.

If you don’t give this place 5 stars, you need new friends. This place sets you up for an over the top sloppy night of laughing and regretful performances from your closest and untalented friends. Private rooms, free ice water in a pitcher, clean bathroom with even a designated place to throw up(bilingual sign), wireless microphones, touch screen song list, plenty of parking, and great customer service. BEST of all: BYO whatever, yup, roll in that bad boy cooler filled with Karaōke guts. Friends will do the rest. It’s next door to Manna Korean BBQ, which was our preparty zone, hence everyone was sporting Bulgogi cologne.

I have yet to visit the recently well-known Karaōke 101(seriously, 5 stars out of 51 reviews?!), but until then, this place will do the trick! Unlike the Korean-run karaōke joints on Convoy, which use telephone books and a hard-to-read remote to input songs, Melody has touchscreen computers to search for songs in every room. It’s really easy and straight-forward to use. They definitely have a reasonably updated database of English, Chinese, and Korean songs. I also saw a handful of Vietnamese songs in there as well. However, if they don’t have the song you want, you can request them to add it by writing down the song title and artist on the clipboard at the front desk. They allow outside food and drinks, but you can also order them from there as well. Black and green tea as well as soda are free, and milk teas cost extra(most of the ones I saw were under $ 4). I came with a group of 5 people, so at the rate of $ 20/hour + various fees, it came out to around $ 18 a person since we decided to stay for about 4.5 hours. However, rates for normal hours will vary depending on the number of people in your group, so be wary. But this place is not bad at all!
