Here it is Friday night, and its party central downstairs from me. Some of us need to work at 5 am and will not get enough sleep before the 16 hour day ahead. The price is good, but I have lived here for several years and cannot take anymore of the booming music and shouting from neighbors who do not answer their doors.

I’ve lived at Melrose Canyon for about 3 years now with my husband and dog, and it’s been great! The apartment is very spacious for the price, we have a great view, and for the most part everyone in the complex is friendly. It is close to everything; restaurants, bars, shopping, grocery stores, anything you can really think of is walking distance, which for me is a huge plus. The complex is quiet pretty much all the time, although on the summer weekends it can get a little rowdy with the pool being in the middle of the complex. I’ve found that if I shut my door I can hardly hear the noise though. The manager Karen is nice and helpful when you have an issue, and is always very polite when she needs to contact us. We had a problem with some noisy neighbors recently, I notified her, she sent them a letter and they have quieted down since then. The maintenence guy Martin is always quick to respond to your requests, and is very knowledgeable and fast with repairs. The parking situation is not ideal, but in Hillcrest that’s not much of a surprise. We do get one gated, assigned parking spot, but we share the street with two other complexes and a medical building, so street parking can sometimes be a challenge, especially if you have visitors coming on the weekend evenings. Yes the complex is old, and there are definitely some characters living here, but for the price you can’t really beat the location and size of the apartments. Overall this is a great place to live!

Update: Maria F., the only other reviewer(with a glowing review of both the complex and the manager, I might add), sent me a very nasty private message. It’s pretty obvious that she’s the manager of this place, as no one else in their right mind would give this complex 5 stars. That shady, dishonest, and incredibly rude behavior(don’t try to pretend you’re not associated with a business, or in this case, apartment complex, when you are) is only another supporting point for my 1-star review. Look, lady. If you don’t like poor reviews, FIXTHEPROBLEM.
