Hands down the best place to go for running shoes! I met Mick from the PB store at a ½ marathon training run. He gave me sound advice about what shoe to wear for my problem with pronation control. I’ve been running all my life, but this stores hands-​on approach to fitting me into the proper shoe really stands out. They have a great crew that walked me through a shoe I could wear to help with getting the most out of my custom orthotics as well as another pair I could evolve into when trying to run without orthotic support. I must’ve tried on 10 pairs of shoes before deciding on a pair of Nike’s and Brooks. Waited for a month to wear the shoes before writing this post and the shoes have been my best pairs in years. Thanks Movin Shoes for getting me dialed in and I’ll see you again in 3 months.

I’m a regular customer here and will continue to be a customer as long as I’m in san diego. The staff are professional and very helpful, they dont push the products on you. I’m impressed by thier knowledge of the shoes and what type you need just by watching your feet as you jog outside. I tried on multiple pairs and was worried that they would be annoyed by my pickiness, but they werent. They cared that you are 100% happy with the fit! They were even on point on the type of shoes i needed. The merchandise are few but great quality, a little pricey but that is the same elsewhere if you were to go to road runner sports. They do offer military discounts. And they also have an evening run you can join during the week. This is my regular stop to stock up on my gu’s, socks and other running necessities. Definitely a must go for people of all levels whether you are just waking/​jogging or you are an experienced runner for many years.

This is my home! I love this place! I’d move in if they’d let me, but I think that’d get a little creepy for everyone.
First up — the staff is extremely friendly. They’ll greet you with a smile, and impart plenty of shoe wisdom on you.
Now, if you’re a rookie, fear not; this is a very welcoming location. And trust me, if you’re getting into running, a good shoe store is as important to you as a good fish monger is to a cook. You’re going to be here a lot over the course of your running «career». You won’t be made to feel inferior. You’ll find a group of people that truly wants you to succeed. They’ll let you try as many shoes as you feel you need to in order to make sure you’ve got the right shoe, with the right fit, for your feet and stride.
If you’re a veteran, you’ll find a staff that is also a veteran. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve asked about how things feel on a long run, and received a reply of, «Well, on my 3 mile runs…» Not quite what I needed. I can ask questions here, research products, and trust the advice I receive here.
I don’t live in San Diego any more, but every time I’m back I always visit Movin Shoes, because I can always use a new pair of runners.

I purchased a gift certificate a while back but unfortunately misplaced it. I called them with the dilemma and within 15 min.(after explaining approximate purchase time frame and amount of gift certificate. etc…) They sent an email with the gift certificate number!!!
They honored the purchase by reissuing the gift certificate! I am so impressed and grateful!!!

Little sports shop where we had our race packet pickup. I don’t see a lot of sports merchandise inside but the staff who were in charge of the pickup were nice and jolly LoL. Store is located within a shopping strip with lots of walking people so be careful when backing up since they don’t care hahahaha it took me like five minutes to finally get out of my parking spot and some cars speed up like as if they’re on the main road… ridiculous but anyways i got what i came for. :-)

Very nice people! I’ve had such bad experiences buying shoes at that huge running store that I refuse to go back. I’m glad I found this little gem of a store in my neighborhood! The man & girl that helped me knew a lot about each shoe & had me walk so they could watch they way my foot landed as I walked. They even have a frequent buyer plan that gives you discounts. Save yourself the headache of going to that giant running store & go here… you will feel really taken care of.

This place is awesome. I purchased a pair of shoes from them a couple months ago and just decided they really weren’t what I needed and they didn’t fit me quite right. I brought them in and they exchanged them, no problem. They listened to my concerns and helped me pick out a more appropriate pair. I could tell they really cared my experience there. They all seemed very knowledgable and helpful. The fact that they stand behind their product is huge for me. Overall, a VERY good experience.

The service at this place is amazing! They might not have the largest selection but the staff here will give you an honest and reliable opinion over trying to make sales, which is something that will keep you going back to them. My husband went here and found a couple great pairs of running shoes that he probably wouldn’tve been introduced to elsewhere.

The ONLY reason why I am not giving this place 5 stars is because they do not carry small size shoes. Otherwise, this place is AMAZING and puts the other larger, more corporate, running store to shame.
Let me tell you about my day in trying to find a pair of running shoes…
I went to Movin Shoes to donate some shoes, and wanted to get a new pair of shoes. I have been feeling a little pain in my shoes so I think my shoes might be getting too old. Unfortunately, they did not have any shoes in my size, so I left and went to another running store that I was sure would have shoes in my size. When I walked into said running shoe store, it was an absolute zoo. I got fitted for shoes, tried on a billion pairs, and bought a pair of shoes that I wasn’t sure absolutely happy with. They didn’t have the shoe I really wanted in stock, but they said they could order them for me. My husband said, «Well, if Movin Shoes can order them for you too, shouldn’t we go there?» We like to support local business.
So off to Movin Shoes I went… again…
I asked them to order the shoes for me, and hopefully they will work out when I get to try it out! While I was perusing the wall, I asked to if they had a specific pair of shoes in wide. They didn’t have that particular shoe in wide, but one of the workers told me there was another pair of shoes in wide. He had me put them on (they were a little big) and had me go out and run in them. I ran in the parking lot, and he explained to me that the shoes were pretty good for my running form, etc. and that I was a «mid-​foot» striker, and he wanted me to try other shoes that he thought might be good for me. Unfortunately, they didn’t have them in my size.
While I was running in the parking lot, we were able to convince my husband to take a look at new running shoes because he didn’t like his particular pair of shoes he has and has always had issues with different shoes. The person helping him asked what his running issues were, and his size. He also asked what kind of shoes he had used in the past and what he liked. He immediately went and brought out five different types of shoes that have different features that would be good for his type of feet. My husband went and ran in the parking lot as well, and the sales associate watched him, critiquing how the shoe was affecting his feet while he was running. The whole process took about 25 minutes, and my husband walked out with brand new shoes that he can’t wait to try!
Compared to my experience at the other running store where I got zero customer service, my husband loved his experience at Movin Shoes, and so did I. I wish that they had shoes in my size so that I could have gone through the same process. I can’t wait to get my special order shoes and have them analyze my running in them as well!

Small selection with great customer service. The employees are very attentive and guide you to what type of shoe you should be wearing. Let will let you sample their shoes and run on the parking lot to see how they feel.

So i went in today to get my race bib. This old bearded white guy (he was wearing gray asics shirt) he wasnt as helpful at all! I dont think he can relate to younger generation of athletes/​buyer/​customer. At first he asked me if i have a question about anything
(while I was focused in getting a pair of running shoes) then he just blubbered (hi toned) «if you want i’ll write it down and post it on the wall so everyone can see» and i was like ??? it’s ridiculous to approach a buyer/​customer with that greetings/​sidecomments (i think). its was just wrong so i ignored him. Then after that he was just asking non-​sense/​rubbish stuff that if i even know anything about running shoes? I was just dumbfounded by him. Pls kick him out of there before he ruins your reputation. ~Concerned Customer

I recently went in to find a pair of running shoes after a long break of not running due to ankle surgery. I was definitely the princess and the pea with shoes. But I’m so grateful that Omar took his time to help me find the perfect fit. Everyone there was very welcoming, professional, and easy to talk to. Thanks Omar for not letting me leave in a shoe that I wouldn’t be completely happy with. I’m now running again (baby steps), and am looking forward to maybe being able to join their running club on Mondays :)

I went to the store to get fitted for a pair of marathon running shoes. Omar helped me find the pair, and he was very helpful and knowledgable. He let me try on three different pairs and run in them in order to make sure I found the perfect pair for me. Great service overall, and highly recommended.

There is no shortage of GREAT running stores in San Diego and Movin Shoes is among the best. I had the wonderful privilege of coming in to this store and meet Mike Jackson and Omar, the store manager. So helpful about everything from shoes (duh) to clothes and even bras.
Great selection of high and medium impact sports bras. I selected a New Balance Psyche bra in purple and Omar assured me that if it didn’t fit, I could take it back!
They are also very knowledgeable about shoes and injuries and assured me that if I was ever ready to get out of my Hokas, they would have an option for me!

If you are a runner/​were a runner/​want to become a runner and you need some advice on what shoes to purchase, you should stop by here! I decided to check this place out because I needed new running shoes and I was deciding to go with a different shoe than what i have always stuck with (mizuno waive rider). As soon as I walked in I was helped which was awesome because i have been to road runner sports and when i walk in sales reps would walk past me and it would take FOREVER to get any assistance.
Anyways, my running shoe experience was great. I tried on 5 different pairs of shoes that complemented my running gait and found a winner. I left mizuno for some brooks and my feet have been happy with me when i go on my runs. Everyone here was awesome and this will be my go to place when i need to replace my running shoes!

I first came to the store a few years ago and was fitted for a pair of running shoes, which have recently been discontinued. I went in a couple of weeks ago, and experience finding a replacement was top notch to say the least.
I not only tried on multiple pairs and ran in them under supervision, but when the pair I purchased didn’t feel right after a week of owning them, I returned them and went through the same process to find the right fit.

Awesome place! The bf and I came by to find running shoes for him. He is not a runner, so we had no idea what we were looking for. The guys that work there were really helpful. They had the bf try on several pairs of shoes and run across the parking lot with them so they could see where his foot needed the most support. We found a great running shoe and they invited us to join one of their weekly runs, which we politely declined. Not quite ready for that! haha
Also, it should be noted, that we checked the prices online for the same shoe and it was the same price. Great service and product — no markup on the price.

I hate spending money so I ran in the same shoes for way too long. Waaaaayyyy too long. For my birthday I decided to give myself my first pair of new shoes in years.
I walked in a said «I need new shoes» and the guys sprang into action. They noted how I stand, walk, and run then picked out a pair they thought would be good. The very first pair they picked out felt amazing and I would have stopped right there but I tried on all the other ones and took each pair for a spin. Great customer service. I left my old shoes to be donated and walked out in the new pair.
The staff is so nice and they really know their stuff. I love my new shoes!

Mizuno Wave Rider 16s my new love. Had them special ordered which took awhile.
After waiting a few weeks, and not running for nearly a week. I needed some motivation. Pick up new shoes and break them in?! OKAY!
I don’t like running on the treadmill so I like that they let us run around the parking lot. No one is judging the soles of your shoes.
They have running clinics and weekly work outs as well!
