LNY Optometry

It had been awhile since my last eye exam so I called LNY to schedule an appointment. When I got there, Dr. Linh greeted me and had me fill out the usual paperwork. Once I was done, Dr. Yonemasu came and did the preliminary tests and then the exam. He was very professional and explained everything he was doing, along with his findings. He took the time to talk and answer any questions I had, and never did I feel rushed. After the exam, Dr. Linh helped me pick out some new frames. I couldn’t decide between two, so Dr. Yonemasu helped and gave his opinion on the frames too. Once I picked out a frame, Dr. Linh explained what was covered by my insurance. I love how they can ship your glasses to you if you don’t want to pick them up at the office.
I had a great experience and I highly recommend LNY to others. The office is clean and beautifully decorated, Dr. Linh and Dr. Yonemasu are wonderful, and they have an excellent selection of frames.

I need a contact lens exam very last minutes. I called the office and Dr Phan was able to schedule the same day appointment for me. Surprisingly. there was no waiting time after I arrived. Dr Phan explained their practice philosophy that both Dr Phan and Dr Yonemasu want their patients to have full attention, one on one doctor-​patient time.
Dr Yonemasu did a very thorough exam. He took his time to explain and answer my questions. The office is full with high tech equipments with utilized during the exam. I was able to try on the contact lens that Dr Yonemasu recommended after the exam. As I walked out, Dr Linh was happy to help me pick out a frame.
I highly recommend this optometrist office, I have never experience this thorough and friendly services in others offices before. And most of the places I went, I always had to wait for a long time.
Bonus point: the office is in the big business area so plenty of parkings. Release the stress level!!!

I had a great experience here at LNY Optometry. Dr. Yonemasu did a thorough exam and took his time to explain things that I that I had questions on. Dr Pham assisted me on picking the perfect frame and made sure the frame fit properly, the prescription is excellent and left me with very clear vision. The Doctors are very friendly and service is great. The check up was great. Will be back for the next check up. A++!!

My husband and I live in Mission Valley and downtown before that, however we would drive the distant just to seek eye care services from Dr. Yonemasu, which should speaks volume regarding how much we appreciate and trust the service that LNY provides. With something as delicate as your eye and important as sight, we couldn’t just go to any optometry. We wanted to make sure whoever was treating us was professional, gentle, attentive, and informative; we received all that and more with LNY. As for their environment, they have plenty of parking, office is immaculately clean, and receptionist is very responsive (and hot according to my husband). Appointments are HIGHLY recommended as they are booked solid.

For the quality of service, I got an excellent deal considering the «best bang for the buck» mentality. I received a thorough examination with multiple methods of diagnosing the health of my eyes. I’m impressed with the check up since these methods are new to me compared to the other optometrists I went to in the past.
They are more tech savvy than most places since I got my receipts (correctly itemized for FSA) emailed and the eye checkup faxed to my NVision (annual requirement) office in Irvine. There was no wait, although I made an appointment. Quality and service are important to me, I’d recommend this Office to anyone.
Will definitely come back!

This review is long overdue. I’ve been going to LNY optometry for 5 years now. Dr. Yonemasu is incredibly knowledgeable. I’ve been a contact wearer since the age of 12 and his exams are thorough and detailed. Dr. Yonemasu makes great suggestions on the best contacts to deal with my astigmatism. I just had a recent appointment and got a thank you card for being a long term patient. Dr. Pham has a great sense of style and helped me pick out my new glasses. They email me reminders when it’s time for my annual check up and email me my invoice for contacts which I appreciate. Best optometrists in SD.

We have been going to LNY for a few years now. Husband is military and my family is in San Diego so when it’s time for eye exams I make sure to be home just so the kids and I can get our eye health checked up. Dr Pham is always so sweet when I call to make our appointments. Dr. Yonemasu has a special touch and makes the kids and I always feel welcome and is very knowledgeable. I wouldn’t go anywhere else and I recommend this office to all my friends moving to San Diego. Thank you Dr. Pham and Dr. Yonemasu for keeping our eyes healthy!

I had such a pleasant experience at LNY Optometry. I was seen right at my appointment time, and Dr. Yonemasu was excellent. My prescription was spot on and I’m so happy about my vision with the new glasses. All my concerns was addressed by Dr. Y, and I left the office feeling for knowledgeable about my eyes and vision. The office has a great selection of frames. I will definitely return next year for my annual check up.

I’ve recently relocated from Los Angeles to San Diego, and luckily stumbled across LNY Optometry since it was close to my office. I’ve been wearing glasses since a young age, and have never had the opportunity to experience an eye appointment that I actually enjoyed… until I walked into LNY Optometry!
Dr. Linh warmly greeted me as soon as I walked into the office and provided a brief breakdown of what occurs during the eye examination. Dr. Yonemasu provided detailed explanations of each procedure and tool that was utilized during my eye examination. He didn’t rush through the eye examination and was extremely thorough. After my eye examination, Dr. Linh assisted me with selecting new frames (she definitely has a sense of style), the frame fitting, and placing the order. She mentioned that once my eye glasses were ready that I could either swing by to pick it up or they would kindly have it shipped to my home. I was ecstatic to hear that they offered shipping?! The past optometrists that I’ve been to had me come return to their office to pick up my eye glasses.
I appreciate LNY Optometry for taking the time to answer all my questions and address any concerns I had, and allowing to experience an eye appointment that I enjoyed. I have been coming to LYN optometry for many years. Dr Yonemasu is passionate about his work and it shows — he is genuinely cares. Dr Yonemasu took the time to exam my eyes along with my wife & daughter and explained all the options and doesn’t stop until you are completely satisfied with your new vision! I first came into LNY when I accompanied my husband for his appointment. As I waited for him to finish, «L» offered to have my eyes examined as well.
While Dr. Yo was finishing up with my husband’s exam, «L» started me off with some preliminary tests. Afterwards, «Y» proceeded to do a thorough exam. He answered all of my questions and was the first optometrist ever to address my complaint of itchy eyes. He prescribed some eye drops and gave me a coupon since prescription eye drops can be quite pricey.
By the time I was done with my exam, «L» had helped my husband pick out some new frames and ordered them.
I highly recommend LNY to others. I love how they are able to schedule our appointments so that my husband and I can come in together, they have a great selection of frames, and they even offer to ship my husbands’s glasses to our house.

I was greeted by «L» upon entrance and promptly checked in.“Y” did the examination and was very thorough and pleasant. Might I add he’s very well dressed.

I have been going to LNY Optometry for the last 4 years. Dr. Yo (his nickname) is such a caring doctor. During the exam, he showed great concerns and well-​being of his patient by asking a lot of your health related questions. I have been to many optometrists before Dr. Yo and they hardly asked for anything. He’s also very informative when you have any concerns or questions related to your health.
The office is very clean and beautiful with varieties of frame and sunglasses selection. I love all the picture decoration on the wall. I would definitely recommend this business and Dr. Yo to anyone who needs glasses or concerns regarding their eyes.

Dr Yonemasu and Dr pham were both very profesional and thorough throughout the whole process. All issues were addressed clearly and the service was absolutely amazing. I have been to many places in the past but this one is the best and I will come back here from now on. I would strongly recommend this place for your eye exam as well as purchasing glasses and contacts. I normally go to Costco for my eye exams but I decided to try LNY Optometry because a friend had recommended them. At first I was hesitant but I decided to take the plunge. All I can say was «wow». I’ve never had such a thorough eye examination before. Dr. Yonemasu is meticulous at his craft. I can’t believe how detailed he was. Compared to other doctors that I’ve been to, it’s like getting a steak at Sizzler and then going to Ruth’s Chris. He and Dr. Pham are very knowledgeable of different types of eyewear and lenses options to meet my needs. They were super helpful when I picked out my glasses. Definitely going back for future exams.

Dr. Pham and Dr. Yonemasu are both very friendly and professional. They take the time to explain things to you, they never rush you out and aren’t pushy about sales either. They truly want to make sure they educate their patients and give them the best care possible. The office is really clean and pleasant, prices are reasonable for the quality of care/​products offered. They even have a few little toys for the little kids to play with while we get checked out. I’ve been going there since they opened almost 5 years ago and I don’t have anything negative to say! They are definitely my family optometrist and will remain so as long as we live in San Diego.

Dr. Yonemasu was very detail oriented. We went through my family history to check for underlying issues. I’m very pleased with their service at LNY optometry. After my exam was done, Dr. Pham was able to pick out the best glasses for me. I am usually pretty picky about my glasses, so that’s why I am super excited to find a comfy and fashionable one here.

Dr. Yonemasu MISPRESCRIBED ME!!! TRIED TO LIE HIS WAY OUT OF ACCEPTING FAULT, THEN REFUSED TO RE-​DO THE CONTACT EXAM, WAS DISHONEST and refused to refund the USELESS contacts his office ordered me.
On 1÷8÷2012 I went in for my appointment and had a great experience. He had told**me that sadly my vision dropped a little (from –2.50 to –2.75) and gave me sample contacts (in –2.75). Within a little over a week assuming the order matched the new prescription I went to pick up my two boxes of contacts. I continued to use/​the sample lenses for the next 3 weeks and everything was great.
Within a little over a month my boyfriend (who has ²⁰⁄₂₀ vision) noticed that I can not see too well and began to test my ability to read far away when we watched TV. He became concerned because I could not read things VERY close to me and started to test how well I could read ROAD SIGNS! (Not very well at all) I told him this can not be as I had only had and my exam a month or so ago.
I continued to brush it off until 5+ months after the appointment when I moved and discovered that the prescription on the lenses I have been using were –2.27!!! (INSTEAD OF –2.75) I had been put in a dangerous driving situation my my doctors error FOR 5+ MONTHS!
As soon as I discovered this error I went into the office on the next day they were open. ALL I ASKED FOR WAS TO BE RE-​TESTED (as they used up the 1ce a year test allowed by my insurance). The doctor refused– even though he had no other clients at the time, tried to claim that the prescription was correct (I have not been so low since high school! there is NO way my vision magically improved). FURTHERMORE HE TRIED TO BLAME ME, THE PATIENT FOR THIS ERROR.
I understand that it had been a while since the initial error but I TRUSTED MY DOCTOR that the order was correct.
He took my glasses I was wearing (a –2.50 prescription I got TWO YEARS ago) to prove that he had made no error then when he saw that my TWO YEAR OLD GLASSES were stronger than the prescription he gave me he quietly handed them back to me. Seeing that I was correct and looking very uncomfortable HE TRIED TO LIE stating «I TOLD HIM my prescription «was –2 pointing to a piece of paper you fill out while you wait (while turning to his assistant and in a hushed tone asking if it was my handwriting or his– IT WAS CLEARLY HIS. A copy of this document I now have*****).
Ok even if I had told him such a low prescription (no way would I have) I AM THE PATIENT– What DO I KNOW? IF I had been a patient of a surgeon and «told» that surgeon to amputate my left leg instead of my right would that surgen blindly amputate my healthy left leg without running medical tests?
He finally offered to re-​test me right then and there IF I PAID THE AMOUNT OF THE EXAM.
Well I still needed a correct prescription but there was NO WAY I would give this deceiving scoundrel more of my money so i scheduled an appointment with a new doctor.
So I made an appointment on 6÷12÷2013 with a new doctor (stated my case to an VSP insurance agent that helped me get a free re-​test for glasses… still paid $ 90 out of pocket for a contact exam I’m hoping to get re-​funded for as well) AND SURE ENOUGH MY VISION WAS –2.75 (and –2.50 in the other eye) But NOT-2.25 as the contacts Dr. Yonemasu ordered me!
Furthermore when my enraged father (under who’se insurance I am) called the office Dr. Yonemasu just kept stating «but… but. SHE TOLD ME* her prescription was –2.00). Can a doctor have a lamer excuse? Then DR Pham. told him that they have a «no refunds after one month policy.» BUT MY TRIAL LENSES (the correct –2.75) LASTED FOR A MONTH. IT’S THE ONES GIVEN FOR AFTER THAT 1 MONTH THAT WERE INCORRECT.
IF THE SITUATION DOES NOT CHANGE/​I RECEIVE A FULL REFUND FOR THOSE CONTACTS (once I notify the office of my intent) I WILL BE REPORTING HIM TO VSP AS WELL AS SEEKING LEGAL COUNCIL/​ACTION.
