Navy Medical Center San Diego Point Loma

The facility is nice but the pharmacy is terrible, and the process is horribly confusing. I’ve had orders screwed up multiple times, and pharmacist redirect me to phone numbers that don’t work or to other facilities. Personally I think they need some process engineers to come in and redesign the whole thing, and possibly replace some of the management.

The staff is nice and polite but the way they run house is extremely unorganized. I went in for a routine procedure that took 20 minutes and spend 3 hours waiting around for no reason because they failed to explain that before I could get my medication given at immuniZations I had to get it picked up at the pharmacy so I spent half an hour waiting in immunizations to be seen only for the nurses to tell me I had to pick up my medication at the pharmacy. This would have been really nice to know so I could plan accordingly and have my meds picked up at another time or spend the 30 minutes in immunizations at the pharmacy because that can take up to 2 hours considering the amount of people they serve. All in all there was a lot of miscommunication which would have been completely avoided had they been more organized.

I have never actually been seen in the clinic itself so this review is strictly for the pharmacy. Dealing with the pharmacy at Balboa for over a year now for my son’s prescriptions has been nothing short of a nightmare. It takes FOREVER. I decided to try the Pharmacy here at NTC since it is close to my home. There were only about three other people waiting for prescriptions to be filled. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. I will DEFINITELY be back before I ever step foot in the Balboa pharmacy again.

I like that this place is out of the way and not have to go to the full hospital that sometimes is packed. But I can spend less then an hour here and I’m in and out with no problem

This is the Navy medical center, located in Point Loma. It is a nice facility. This is where you go to get your eyes checked to get surgery. The actual surgery is held at Balboa, but you come here before and after the surgery for check ups and appointments.
I like all of the workers and doctors there. Very helpful and friendly.
The location is far away from the freeway, so make sure to leave where you are coming from earlier so you don’t miss your appointment time.
