New Optix Optometry

The eye exam was very good. There are no prices on frames. There is also no price matching on frames, I checked because the same frames at LensCrafters was $ 55 less (not a discounted price). They will only price match contact lenses. The sales staff is gentle… not pushy, so that’s good. Overall, the experience is good. The only complaint is the difference in price for the frames.

It had been a little over 3 years since my last eye exam. Decided to get one for the start of the new year. My wife also needed some glasses since she lost her last pair. I ended up booking appointments for both of us here based off of Unilocal reviews.
Staff was friendly, personable, and very welcoming on the phone and in person. This eye center is very clean, has a nice little waiting area, and even has a cool fish tank. They have a small self serve coffee bar, but if you don’t like their coffee you’re in luck… there is a Starbucks next door.
They have a large selection of frames and mirrors all around so you can see how you look. They offer a lot of designer brands such as: Calvin Klein, DKNY, Tom Ford, Coach, Gucci, Dolce and Gabana, Prada, Oakley, and many more.
The exam was straight forward. Dr. Tran is friendly and very thorough. He would explain what he would be doing in good detail, along with why, and always followed up by asking if I had any questions.
I was also impressed that he uses some of the latest and greatest equipment. My previous Optometrist didn’t have that technology in his office.
After getting the appropriate prescription lenses, we both chose frames that we liked. The young woman in the store front explained everything thoroughly regarding what was covered by our vision insurance, our out of pocket cost, and how much we saved.
I’m glad insurance covers a fair amount of the cost. Depending on which frames you select, you could walk out of this place and easily drop a few hundred dollars per pair of glasses (and that’s with vision insurance).
Only thing left is to pick up our glasses when they’re ready in a couple of weeks. Overall, I highly recommend checking this place out if you need glasses.

Dr Tran is the best!!! He is a really great Doctor he speaks to you like a person and he is very nice. He has updated technology and he is very knowledgable. They have a great eyeglass selection and the great staff will help you choose the right one for you. You can also come in and they will adjust and clean your glasses for you anytime!!!

I already had a prescription so I just came in to look at frames — so this review isn’t a reflection of the doctor.
Pros: they have a pretty good selection of frames, particularly if you’re looking for high end name brands. Also, sofas and a coffee station are nice if you’re waiting for the doc.
Cons: they weren’t very friendly or helpful. The girl at the front desk offered to look up my insurance (which I didn’t need), but never offered to help with what I actually came for. After a few minutes someone else came out to help, but when I explained what I was looking for he basically told me to keep looking at all the cases I had already looked at, then left the room again.
Also, no prices are marked on the frames. Considering no one was available to answer questions, this made shopping difficult.

I am glad I have found this place for my optometry needs! Different living area in town and a previous optometry office experience that left a sour note begged for a change in practice. Sharing the same plaza area as Yakyudori Yakitori and Starbucks, it is an easy location to find.
Walking in, this place was clean, neat, and greeted warmly by their opticians. I noticed first their cool looking aquarium, which was also maintained. A definite must to take care of the fish, an important side note.
Coffee/​water/​tea was available for customers while you wait and complete new patient registration paperwork. You can also browse for brand name frames and sunglasses.
In for just an eye exam, one of the optical staff took me into one of the exam rooms and conducted preliminary assessments and tests prior to the optometrist seeing me. I elected to do the voluntary retinal imaging, and that was done in a snap as well.
Dr. Tran had great bedside manner and did a great job explaining eye health and the findings that the previous tests exhibited. Their equipment were clean and looked like updated technology. The machine that fine tunes your prescription strength is automatic for the optometrist and was a nice surprise.
My insurance for contact lenses and/​or frames will not renew until later next year. However the fact that this business was helpful, not pushy in sales, and displayed great patient care have earned my business.
They do have out of pocket specials with their products so just ask. I still have some contact lenses left for use, but I know I will use them for refills. Keep an «eye» out for these guys. They will take care of you. You guys know they have both of mine now.

I walked into New Optix today as a new patient, but walked out a convinced patient. Dr. Tran and his team are kind, professional, and knowledgeable. Throughout my eye exam I was given an explanation of every piece of equipment and what to expect. Dr. Tran’s equipment looked like state-​of-​the-​art stuff, and you get a good sense that he is not using out-​dated equipment/​techniques.
Also, Dr. Tran made me aware of my eligibility for an insurance provision; all my previous Optometrists failed to mention this to me, when I should have been eligible for the past 3 years. Thank you very much Dr. Tran for not only knowing your expertise well, but also being very knowledgeablele regarding vision insurance matters!

I just left the New Optix office and was very happy with the level of service and courteousness of staff. I had not been to see an eye doctor for years, and it was time to get a new prescription for my eyeglasses. The office is located in a shopping center, but has a very cute and comfortable vibe inside. From the second I walked in, the front desk girls were super nice and explained all the paperwork to me. I paid out of pocket, but the costs was extremely reasonable and less than competitors.
I never had to wait long for the eye exams or to see Dr. Tran. The exams themselves were routine, easy, and painless (and I opted out of diluting my eyes this time). Dr. Tran was very pleasant, explained everything to me, and left me without any questions or concerns. His staff was also very helpful, and I was able to quickly pick out new glasses and get everything set within just a few minutes. I would highly recommend anyone to come here for a great experience!

Came in for an eye exam and new glasses. I’d have to say I was beyond pleased with my entire experience. The doctor and the staff were all so helpful and kind. And to top it off, I loved the wide selection of glasses that they had. Although that made it hard for me to pick just one. Dr Ta helped me pick one and I am absolutely in love with the one she picked! Will be back for my next exam for sure.

This has to be one of my favorite spot to go to for my yearly check up. I’ve been to several offices and it doesn’t compare to this place. Customer service is superb and down to earth. The selections are amazing and the office is clean.

Had the pleasure to work with Chi who helped me select some great frames. Not only did she give me an opinion on the frames I selected l, but she picked a few she thought would look good on me as well. She made me feel very welcomed and her personal touch made a returning customer out of me. They have a vast selection of frames and I was in and out in no time. I’m very happy with my new glasses purchase. Pricing was reasonable and understanding my insurance coverage was transparent and trustworthy.
They have an excellent selection of frames, and the employees were all super nice and friendly.

Great place with a wonderful environment. Staff was very helpful and i felt they really cared about me.
Compared to lensecrafters and other big chains they took their time and didn’t push their wares upon me but took my vague descriptions of what i wanted and turned them into reality.

Usually I don’t give 5 star if i’m not satisfied very well. This is a great place for eye glass/​contact lenses exam. I was here for my contact lenses exam and dr tran is so friendly and professional. he explains everything in detail. They even check blood pressure. The place is so clean and looks little fancy. Billy the front office guy is so helpful.
They even price match contact lenses with costco/walmart.which is an awesome deal. I had a wonderful and pleasant experience here and definitely recommend others to visit this place.

The office is clean and comfortable, a great atmosphere to wait in. I was able to make an appointment for the following week and they sent a text reminder so I wouldn’t forget. I didn’t wait long when I was there. The staff was great and helpful and took their time helping me. Everyone was really friendly and it made the experience more enjoyable. They even looked into what was the best and cheapest option with my insurance for contacts and glasses.
After my examination, they were patient with me looking through every single frame and helping me along. Because I find a lot of frames attractive, I had to ask for their opinion and they took time from their work to narrow down the frames I had in hand to my current frames now.
The selection, I believe, was great. The only complaint would be too much options that sometimes you can’t decide. All in all, I’m glad to have found an optometrist here in San Diego instead of having to wait till I go home to SF.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said? The proof is in the number of five star reviews and praises that have been previously left before my review.
New Optix has a great staff, intimate and upscale interior, and a great optometrist in Dr. Tran. I made an impromptu appointment on a Friday morning and was able to get in later that afternoon. I was greeted by Chi (sp) and another girl, I didn’t get her name. They were very friendly and helpful about letting me know what my insurance covered. During my exam for contacts and eyeglasses I felt that Dr Tran loves what he’s doing and helping people out with their vision. At the end I came out happy because New Optix exceeded my expectations. When I was ready to leave another girl, Paris, was also very kind and helpful and I was on my way. I only need to stop by and pick up my contacts and maybe check out their great selection, might get some new sunglasses.
Overall if you are looking for a new optometrist you can not go wrong, come see the staff and Dr. Tran, you won’t be disappointed.

New Optix was a lifesaver.
I came here after ordering some eyeglasses online. Come to find out, the site shipped the glasses without any prescription lenses. Doh! While the site did give me a full refund, I needed to fill the prescription locally.
I came here for an eye exam and lenses after checking Unilocal.New Optix does have their own lab in house, so this makes it easy to fill prescriptions.
Two Thoughts:
1) Dr. Tran was very nice guy. His exam was thorough, and most importantly, inexpensive!
2) The customer service here is top notch. After they made my lenses, I came back after one didn’t fit flush with the frame. New Optix made sure the lense got there one day later. They also made sure they could fix the lense when I came in, so no waiting around for my glasses.
Great place. Highly recommend.

Full Disclosure: I am an optometrist who is VERY particular about my healthcare and glasses.
Now, let me tell you what you should be looking for when you’re looking for your eye care and a quality optical.
First and foremost, I don’t care how important glasses and frames are to you, you need to find yourself a trustworthy doctor who has the skillset to diagnose, treat, and manage ocular disease. Dr. Tran does this for me. I may be an optometrist, but I need my eyes checked too, and they are the people whom I trust to rule out any infection, tumor, or blinding condition in my eyes. What I appreciate most from them is that they have the best instrumentation in office to do this. They did not overlook the need for high quality instruments and machinery. So, if there was any need, I can always rely on them.
Next, is quality of frame, lenses, and optical care. When ordering glasses, I look for someone who can provide me the frame and lenses with fast turnover, good quality, and service with a smile. I receive all of these qualities from New Optix. I once ordered a specialized Tom Ford frame from them. I was away when I found that there was a small change I needed in my lenses. After requesting the remake, I was able to ship them the frame and lenses, and they fixed it for me with no question and returned it back to me in no time!
Overall, it’s crucial that you remember that eye care, healthcare, and optical are all free-​market. You have the options to go anywhere, and as do I. I choose to get my eye care from New Optix because they meet and exceed all of my needs and have earned my trust.

I was having an extended stay in San Diego for business and I unfortunately dropped and crushed my favorite pair of glasses. I hadn’t had my eyes checked in years, so I didn’t know my prescription. I searched for the nearest optometrist and found New Optix.
I called them and they were able to have me come in that day. Dr Tran was friendly and prompt in his service. He helped me get my eyes checked and I came out a happy camper with new contacts (I can use immediately) along with a new pair of glasses that came a week later via free delivery.
What stood out to me was the huge selection of frames and very clean/​modern office. I recall they price match Costco, so the prices are at least competitive.
Best of all, they accepted my insurance without a hitch.
Next time I accidentally crush my glasses, I would definitely come back here!

What a great experience. After almost a decade of going to LensCrafters and still not feeling like my needs were being met and the lack of customer service, I decided to try a new place. I couldn’t believe I had waited so long! Dr Tran is warm, welcoming, and incredibly professional. He took his time on my exams and made me feel incredibly comfortable. To me, that’s what customer experience is all about– building relationships and establishing trust in your Optometrist. In addition to having a stand up Dr, the shop is very well put together, maintained and has a variety of gorgeous glasses to pick from. It took me a while but I settled on a pair of Guccis and am absolutely obsessed! You won’t regret your experience at New Optix!

This place is super nice, everyone is very friendly and helpful! The front office staff is great and they have a beautiful saltwater fish tank in the front of the office :-)
Overall, this place is awesome and I will definitely be coming here again!
