Our goal is to serve our patients by helping them with their vision and personal eye health by providing them with professional and state-​of-​the-​art eyecare in a relaxed professional atmosphere. We specialize in full-​scope eyecare including routine eye examinations, fitting for glasses and contact lenses of all kinds, treatment and management of eye infections and eye disease, screenings for glaucoma and cataracts, as well as co-​management for LASIK refractive surgery and cataract surgery. We are a family-​owned optometry practice that prides itself on the quality eyecare and the individual attention we provide all of our patients. We welcome patients of all ages, and we are providers for Medicare, Tricare, most vision insurances (such as VSP, MES, Eyemed, Davis, Spectera, Optum Health), and most PPO medical insurances.

History

Established in 2002.

Archie Ackroyd, O.D. and Patrick Van Hoose, O.D. have practiced in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego since 1972 and 1994 respectively. After a fire destroyed Archie’s office in 2001, Patrick offered his office to Archie as a place where he could see patients while repairs were being completed. Because they got along so well, they decided to merge their two practices after repairs were completed, and thereby formed the partnership of Ackroyd & Van Hoose Optometry in 2002. Marc Van Hoose, O.D., who is Patrick’s son, joined the practice in 2004 as a junior partner and has since taken over as managing partner.

Business Owner

Born: Long Beach, CA. Raised in Carlsbad, CA where he still lives.

Education: BA in Biology and English from the University of Southern California 2000, Graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Southern California College of Optometry in 2004, Completed Pre-​Doctorate Rotations at Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital, Veterans Hospital Downtown Los Angeles, Native American Hospital Lawton, Oklahoma, and Fullerton Eye Care Center.

Practice: Joined Ackroyd and Van Hoose Optometry in 2004.

Family: Married to his wife, Kyri, since 2001. They have a daughter, Caitlyn, who was born in 2008, and a son, Griffin, who was born in 2012.
