With almost 20 years of experience and state-​of-​the-​art technologies such as Intra-​Oral Camera, Digital X-​ray, Nitrous-​Oxide, and Cerec 3D Digital Imaging that allows our patient to have their crown made in 1 hour, New Smile Dental can offer you comprehensive dental services to meet the needs of your family. We specialize in General, Cosmetic, and Implant Dentistry.

History

Established in 1996.

After Graduating from USC in 1996, Dr. An practiced for a few years in the Bay Area before moving down to San Diego. She took over New Smile Dental in 2002 when the previous dentist moved out of state. Most of her staff have been with her for over 10 years and together have created thousands of New Smiles.

Dr. Nguyen is absolutely amazing. My children & I have been seeing her regularly for a while now & she’s very trustworthy & does great work. I tend to not trust dentists because I’ve been told many conflicting things by others before I met her but she’s very honest.
My children used to see a pediatric dentist on Adams Avenue & he was saying my 8 year old needed braces when he lost only one tooth. Ridiculous. Dr. Nguyen confirmed to me that he definitely did not need braces so early so I switched my kids over to her & I have not been happier.
She accepts Met Life (military insurance) & also, her receptionist Kyle is wonderful. I’m so glad I found Dr. Nguyen!

Dr. An is incredible! My entire childhood I dreaded going to the dentist. Dr. An and her whole staff make you feel comfortable and Dr. An does a wonderful job. She is gentle and makes sure you are ok many times through your appointment. She remembers who you are and what you talked about the last visit. They all are so personable. I have no complaints at all

I love Dr. An and her work! the best dentist I’ve been to in all my 62 years! Her fillings are so well done, they’re undistinguishable from my own teeth. beautiful! She always makes sure I’m comfortable. The staff are professional and courteous. She works with me financially and has my dental health as her primary goal.

What I appreciated most about this dental practice is that they did not try to sell me any unnecessary services and went straight to fixing a problem I had. They accommodated my schedule in the most convenient manner and fixed my chipped filling the same day I called for the appointment. The doctor has a pleasant personality and stuff is friendly. They take full responsibility for the service they provide. I would definitely recommend this place.

This is by far the best dentist I’ve ever gone to. Everyone was so nice and courteous. I’ve had a fear of dentists due to a previous experience, so I never thought I’d be writing a review praising one!!! I’m So happy I found this place! Great place to have some dental work done. I had an implant done with Dr Nguyen and she did a great job at 1⁄3 the price I was quoted at another office. The staff here is also very outgoing and knowledgable. I will be going back to have some more work done.

I put off going to the dentist for years and years because of my anxiety. After sifting through Unilocal I came across this dental office and the reviews were amazing, so i finally made an appointment. I spent the entire week dreading the appointment and wondering how awful the dentist would make me feel for my procrastination.
I had the BEST experience. Everyone was very friendly and Dr. An is so nice and informative. She didn’t make me feel bad for my cavities that got a little out of hand due to going long periods without check ups. She put together an action plan and got to work. The pricing is very fair.
Dr. An not only explained all of her work, but also showed me on the camera/​monitor and mirror before AND AFTER. She really went above and beyond. I love this office so much I’m cramming in all the work that needs to be done within a month and a half before we move out of state. I love this place.

Wow! Great customer service! For some who don’t have insurance but still need work done, anywhere else will charge you an arm&leg. Not here, they are so nice to work with you and give you affordable pricing! Everyone there is friendly. I had work done 3 years ago, came back recently and it’s still the same awesome service. I had western dental work before and Omg… terrible, cheap does not mean better! Here you get great results.
Even though it’s 20 min away from me, it’s worth it.

I moved from SD 3 years ago, so this is review is a little late as I haven’t been to Dr. An since. But I am prompted to write this review because i miss the quality of service i received from New Smile. I was recommended to Dr. An by a friend and I am doing the same to Unilocalers.
Dr. An: Very patient. with a tooth emergency on a non-​work day morning, Dr. An saved my day by answering my call for help. She opened her office and fixed my cavity immediately. Her quality of work has been tested over time. All the fillings she put in (and I’ve had several) have stayed strong.
Staff: All very nice and they treat you like a friend.

So caring! So great with Novocaine shots! So precise in her dental work. Her staff is amazing. Dr. An is amazing! She treats all her patients like family.

Before I launch into the details let me just give you the headline: New Smile Dental is the best.
As a newbie to SD, I feel extra grateful to have found New Smile Dental because Dr. An and her crew are professional, honest, friendly, and skilled. The first time I went for a cleaning I was shocked at how thorough it was. Their attention to detail really shows that they care about dental health (and not just making money).
Perhaps the thing that i love the most is that Dr. An recommends preventative action to protect my teeth. For example, she has filled many of my «deep» teeth with sealant to avoid the development of cavities. My old dentist never did any preventative work.
I also have to mention that every person I have met there is genuinely kind/​positive. CJ made me forget I was at the dentist during my last cleaning! If you’re someone who doesn’t like going to the dentist (like I used to be), this is the place for you :)
